11 EN EN History Published in 2004 after 16 years of development Replaces the DIN 4112 Fliegende Bauten Published and developed by CEN with 28 European member states. Every country can have its National Deviations on the standard.

12 Revision of EN :2004 EN Start Revision : informal preparation From 2009 to Sept 2011 as private initiative of EAASI / IAAPA Prepare update for revision of the current EN :2004 Voluntary group of experts in 8 different workgroups Structure and Mechanism Platforms, Stairs and ramps Guest Behaviour and Risk Assessment Use and Maintenance Acceleration and Restraints Electrical and Control Systems Manufacture and Supply Editing Committee

15 EN Current Status today Revision of EN : January 2016 Published Draft pren for final review and comments (before April 2016) Draft pren13814 January Safety of Amusement Rides and Devices : Part 1 : Design and Manufacture Many Comments Section for Manufacturing Quality is taken out of part 1 and put in Technical Report Members could not agree on application EN1090 TR easier to maintain and change than the text in the standard Part 2 : Operation, Maintenance and Use Part 3 : Requirements for Inspection Discussed comments during meetings May-July in Gardaland, Paris and virtual Technical Report still to be done Future plan : Formal vote early 2017 Publish end of 2017 Few Comments

Russia initiates ISO and is convener of the TC London 2011 : 3 working groups WG Meetings : WG 2 (Design&Mnf) ~~ EN (CEN WG1) Many discussions in WG1 about content and acceleration graphs (harmonizing with EN/ASTM)

21 ISO ISO/TC 254: History ISO Biomechanical Effects on Amusement Rides First instance New acceleration graphs developed in Russia Discussions in WG to use EN/ASTM harmonized graphs 2013 : EN/ASTM-G force limits included besides other limits Changed to Technical Specification at IAAPA show 2013: Attended by ASTM G-force task-group members Several parts deleted and agreed that ISO will use the EN/ASTM harmonized graphs only 2014 : New work group (WG4) established Work item on measuring g forces: Finally agreed with help of ASTM to refer to ASTM F2137 like EN does

22 ISO/TC 254: Current Status ISO WG2 WG3 ISO Part1 : Design and Manufacturing ISO Part2 : Operation and Use ISO Part3 : Inspection Because publishing the workgroups could be disbanded. However, WG 2 Design and Manufacturing continues because there are still a lot of comments. Sept 16 : no activities since wait for EN? WG1 WG4 ISO/TS Biomechanical Effects on amusement ride passengers : as Technical Specification Was a proposal for a standard for measuring G forces WG 4 Withdrawn because could be convinced to refer to ASTM F2137 New work item proposal : impact accelerations
