The summit database is believed to be complete. If you find a summit that meets the criteria for addition, or you find a mistake in this ARM please contact the Association Manager. Activators are asked to submit details of proposed additional summits to the Association Manager. Summits cannot be counted for points until a reference number has been allocated by the Association Manager. 1.2 General information To qualify for a summit it has to meet the following requirements: The summit must be verified using topographic data. The summit must be elevated at least 150 m from its surroundings In the case of doubt the Management Team will decide whether the Summit will be added to the list The summit database can only be changed by the acceptance of the SOTA management team. Summits cannot be counted for points until a launch date and an individual reference number has been allocated by the Association Manager and approved by the SOTA Management Team. 4 1.3 Rights of way and access issues Access to the summits is generally free, although in some circumstances specific permits may be required from national authorities, or individuals who own the areas where summits are located. Please respect the nature areas and always follow marked trails to reduce the damage caused by human traffic. 1.4 Maps and navigation Uruguay maps and guide books are available from various sources, especialy from the Servicio Geográfico Militar. Information is available at the web site: Safety considerations Before hiking always check the weather, and remember the dangers of operating in thunderstorms. In general, there are no aggressive or dangerous fauna in the areas where the summits are located. The emergency telephone number is 911 effective in all the Uruguayan territory. 1.6 Foreign HAMs in CX CX is a signatory to the CITEL s International Amateur Radio Permit (IARP) Convention. Therefore, all radio amateur operators owning the IARP permit from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, El Salvador, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the United States, Trinidad and Tobago or Venezuela can operate without any other required authorization. However, all other visiting operators must obtain a reciprocal license from the Uruguayan telecom authority: Unidad Reguladora de Servicios de Comunicaciones (URSEC). Information about them and any other important data can be found at the SOTA Uruguay (CX) Association web site: Disclaimer Hiking, hill-walking and rock-climbing are potentially dangerous activities. Each participant does so at his or her own risk, and must decide, on the basis of their own ability, whether an objective is achievable.
