3 OPERATING MANUAL & PARTS LIST FOR SETUP INSTRUCTIONS This is the safety alert symbol used for the SETUP INSTRUCTIONS section of this manual to alert you to potential personal injury hazards. Obey all instructions to avoid possible injury or death. PLEASE REFER TO THE EXPLODED VIEW DRAWING IN THIS MANUAL IN ORDER TO IDENTIFY PARTS. 1. Attach fingers (#3) to saddle angles (#2) using bolts (#4), flat washers (#5) and nuts (#6). 2. Attach saddle angles (#2) to saddle (#1) using bolts (#7), washers (#8) and nuts (#9). 3. Attach and secure hook standoff (#11) to finger (#3) with washer (#5) and nut (#6) as shown in the exploded view drawing on page 4. Insert adjustment hook (#12) through hook standoff (#11) and secure with washer (#5) and wing nut (#10). 4. Secure one end link of chain (#13) to another finger (#3) with the bolt (#4), washer (#5) and nut (#6). Attach any other link of chain (#13) to the adjustment hook (#12). 5. Remove service jack saddle and raise jack s lift arm to maximum height. Insert the stud at the bottom of the angle adjustment stand (#20) into the jack s saddle base and secure with the screw (#26), washers (#25), washer (#24) provided. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS This is the safety alert symbol used for the OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS section of this manual to alert you to potential personal injury hazards. Obey all instructions to avoid possible injury or death. 1. Lift the vehicle to the desired work height, and support the vehicle in accordance with the lift manufacturer's recommended lifting and support procedures. 2. Position the jack directly under the transmission. Pump the handle, and the adapter will start to rise. Raise the adapter to a height very close to the center of balance point of the transmission, but do not touch the transmission. 3. Loosen the bolts that secure the saddle angles to the saddle and the bolts that secure the fingers to the saddle angles. The saddle angles and fingers can be adjusted in and out to help position the transmission on the saddle. Now gently raise the adapter so it supports the transmission. Make a final adjustment of the angles and fingers and tighten all hardware. Fore and aft saddle tilt adjustment may be necessary to properly fit the angle of the transmission on the adapter. 4. The chain should be pulled over the center of balance portion of the transmission and secured on the chain hook. Rotate the wing nut to take up the slack in the chain and secure the transmission to the saddle. 5. Remove the transmission from the engine according to instructions in the vehicle service manual. 6. Once the transmission has been disconnected from the engine, very slowly turn the jack's release knob in a counterclockwise direction to make sure the jack's saddle and transmission do not hang up on any under vehicle components, wiring, fuel lines, etc. Continue to lower the jack all the way down. 7. Remember to secure the transmission to the adapter before installing, and follow the vehicle manufacturer's installation instructions. PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE This is the safety alert symbol used for the PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE section of this manual to alert you to potential personal injury hazards. Obey all instructions to avoid possible injury or death. 1. Always store the adapter in a well protected area where it will not be exposed to inclement weather, corrosive vapors, abrasive dust, or any other harmful elements. The adapter must be cleaned of water, snow, sand or grit before using. 2. The adapter must be lubricated periodically in order to prevent premature wearing of parts. A general purpose grease must be applied to fore and aft tilt screw and tilt pivot pins. 3. Every adapter owner is responsible for keeping the adapter labels clean and readable. Use a mild soap solution to wash external surfaces of the adapter. Contact NAPA for a replacement label if your adapter's label is unreadable. 4. Inspect the adapter before each use. Observe todas las instrucciones para evitar lesiones o peligros de muerte. CONSULTE POR FAVOR EL DIBUJO DE VISTA EN DETALLE EN ESTE MANUAL PARA IDENTIFICAR LAS PARTES. 1. Sujete los dedos (#3) a los ángulos de la silla (#2) usando los pernos (#4), arandelas planas (#5) y tuercas (#6). 2. Sujete los ángulos de la silla (#2) a la silla (#1) usando los pernos (#7), arandelas (#8) y tuercas (#9). 3. Sujete y asegura el gancho espaciador (#11) al dedo (#3) con la arandela (#5) y tuerca (#6) según se ilustra en el dibujo de vista ampliada en la página 4. Inserte el ajuste del gancho (#12) por el gancho espaciador (#11) y sujete con la arandela (#5) y la tuerca mariposa (#10). 4. Sujete un eslabón de extremo de la cadena (#13) a otro dedeo (#3) con el perno (#4), arandela (#5) y tuerca (#6). Sujete cualquier eslabón de la cadena (#13) al gancho de ajuste (#12). 5. Extraiga la silla del gato de servicio y eleve el brazo de elevación del gato hasta su máxima altura. Inserte el broche en la parte inferior de la base de ajuste de ángulo (#20) en la base de la silla del gato y sujételo con el tornillo (#26), arandelas (#25), y arandela (#24) provistos. INSTRUCCIONES DE USO Este símbolo indica una alerta de seguridad y se utiliza en la parte de este manual que versa sobre las INSTRUCCIONES DE USO, con el fin de advertir sobre los peligros de accidentes personales. Levante el vehículo hasta la altura deseada de trabajo y soporte el vehículo de acuerdo con los procedimientos de levantamiento y soporte recomendados por parte del fabricante. 2. Coloque el gato directamente debajo de la transmisión. Bombee el mango y luego el adaptador comenzará a elevarse. Eleve el adaptador a una altura muy cercana al centro del punto de equilibrio de la transmisión pero no toque la transmisión. 3. Afloje los pernos los que sujetan los ángulos de la silla a la silla y los pernos los que sujetan los dedos a los ángulos de las sillas. Los ángulos y dedos de la silla pueden ajustarse hacia adentro y hacia afuera para asistir en la colocación de la transmisión en la silla. Ahora levante el adaptador suavemente para que éste soporte la transmisión. Realice un ajuste final de los ángulos y los dedos y apriete toda la ferretería. Puede ser necesario el ajuste de la inclinación de la silla en los dos extremos para así encajar adecuadamente el ángulo de la transmisión en el adaptador. 4. La cadena debe jalarse sobre el centro de la parte de equilibrio de la transmisión y debe ser sujetada en el gancho de la cadena. Gire el tornillo mariposa para eliminar la holgura de la cadena y para sujetar la transmisión a la silla. 5. Extraiga la transmisión del motor, según las instrucciones en el manual de servicio del vehículo. 6. Una vez que la transmisión se haya desconectado del motor, gire muy lentamente la perilla de liberación del gato en el sentido de las agujas del reloj para asegurar que la silla del gato y la transmisión no se enganchen con ningún componente, alambre ni línea de combustible por debajo del vehículo. Siga a bajar el gato completamente. 7. Acuérdese de sujetar la transmisión al adaptador antes de instalar y de seguir las instrucciones de instalación del fabricante del vehículo. 10 MANUEL DE FONCTIONNEMENT ET LISTE DE PIÈCES POUR DIRECTIVES INSTALLATION Voici le symbole utilisé dans la section DIRECTIVES INSTALLATION du présent manuel pour avertir du risque de blessure. Suivre toutes les directives pour éviter des blessures pouvant être graves ou mortelles. VEUILLEZ VOUS RÉFÉRER AUX SCHÉMAS DE CE MANUEL POUR IDENTIFIER LES PIÈCES 1. Attachez les doigts (#3) aux angles de selle (#2) en utilisant les boulons (#4), les rondelles plates (#5) et les écrous (#6). 2. Attachez les angles de selle (#2) à la selle (#1) en utilisant les boulons (#7), les rondelles (#8) et les écrous (#9). 3. Attachez solidement le séparateur crochet (#11) au doigt (#3) avec la rondelle (#5) et l écrou (#6), tel qu illustré dans le dessin avec vue explosée sur la page 4. Insérez le crochet de réglage (#12) à travers le séparateur crochet (#11) et fixez solidement avec la rondelle (#5) et l écrou à oreilles (#10). 4. Fixez solidement une extrémité du maillon (#13) à l autre doigt (#3) avec le boulon (#4), la rondelle (#5) et l écrou (#6). Attachez tout autre maillon (#13) au crochet de réglage (#12). 5. Retirez la selle du cric de service et levez le bras de levage du cric à la hauteur maximale. Insérez la tige au bas du pied de réglage angulaire (#20) dans la base de la selle du cric et fixez solidement avec la vis (#26), la rondelle (#24) et les rondelles (#25) fournies. DIRECTIVES D'UTILISATION Voici le symbole utilisé dans la section DIRECTIVES D UTILISATION du présent manuel pour avertir du risque de blessure. Suivre toutes les directives pour éviter des blessures pouvant être graves ou mortelles. 1. Soulevez le véhicule à la hauteur de travail désirée et soutenez le véhicule selon les procédures de levage et de support recommandées par le fabricant du vérin. 2. Placer le cric directement sous la transmission. Pomper pour déployer le cric et pour faire lever l adaptateur tout juste sous la transmission et vis-à-vis de son centre de gravité, sans toutefois qu il touche à la transmission. 3. Desserrer les boulons qui maintiennent les équerres sur la selle et ceux qui maintiennent les doigts sur les équerres. Déplacer les équerres et les doigts vers l intérieur ou l extérieur pour bien positionner la selle sous la transmission. Faire lever lentement la selle de sorte qu elle soutienne la transmission. Faire les ajustements finaux et serrer solidement tous les boulons. Il peut être nécessaire de régler l inclinaison latérale, avant et arrière pour que la selle soit correctement positionnée par rapport à la transmission. 4. Passer la chaîne par-dessus la transmission et vis-à-vis du centre de gravité et fixer le crochet. Serrer l écrou à oreilles pour prendre le mou de la chaîne et pour retenir solidement la transmission à la selle. 5. Retirer la transmission du moteur conformément aux instructions du manuel de réparation du véhicule. 6. Une fois la transmission désaccouplée du moteur, tourner très lentement le bouton de la soupape de relâchement dans le sens antihoraire pour s assurer que la selle et la transmission ne sont pas retenues par des composants situés sous le moteur, du câblage, des canalisations de carburant, etc. Puis continuer et faire descendre le cric au complet. 7. Avant la pose d une transmission, s assurer de bien la fixer à l adaptateur. Suivre les directives d installation du fabricant du véhicule. ENTRETIEN PRÉVENTIF Voici le symbole utilisé pour dans la section ENTRETIEN PRÉVENTIF du présent manuel pour avertir du risque de blessure. Suivre toutes les directives pour éviter des blessures pouvant être graves ou mortelles. 1. Toujours entreposer l adaptateur dans un endroit où il sera protégé des intempéries, des vapeurs corrosives, de la poussière abrasive et des autres éléments nocifs. L adaptateur doit être exempt d eau, de neige, de sable et de saleté avant l utilisation. 2. Lubrifier régulièrement l adaptateur pour prévenir l usure prématurée des pièces. Une graisse à usage général doit être appliquée sur les pivots et la vis servant au réglage de l inclinaison. 3. Le propriétaire de l adaptateur doit s assurer que les étiquettes apposées sur le produit demeurent propres et lisibles. Utiliser une solution savonneuse douce pour nettoyer les surfaces externes du produit. Si une étiquette apposée sur le produit devient illisible, communiquer avec NAPA pour obtenir une étiquette de rechange. 4. Inspecter le produit avant chaque utilisation. Ne pas utiliser le produit si un de ses composants est craqué, brisé, déformé ou semble endommagé. Ne pas utiliser un produit qui a été modifié ou si des composants sont lâches ou manquants. Apporter les corrections ou les réparations nécessaires avant d utiliser de nouveau le produit.
