4 Domingo 1 de Diciembre de º Domingo de Adviento, Ciclo A Isaías 2,1-5: El Señor reúne a todas las naciones en la paz eterna del Reino de Dios Salmo 121: Qué alegría cuando me dijeron: Vamos a la casa del Señor! Romanos 13,11-14: Nuestra salvación está cerca Mateo 24,37-44: Estén en vela, para estar preparados! Hoy iniciamos el período del adviento. Y el adviento es, ante todo, un tiempo de espera y de esperanza. No es la misma cosa, aunque exista entre ellos un gran parentesco. Se puede esperar algo o a alguien, y no necesariamente tener la virtud de la esperanza cristiana. Ésta nace de una fe en Dios muy intensa, profunda y verdadera, que nos lleva a confiar ciegamente en su gracia, en su poder, y a esperar con certeza plena en el cumplimiento de todas sus promesas. Cuáles promesas? Las que nos ha revelado en la Sagrada Escritura y a través de nuestra santa madre, la Iglesia. Es decir, aquellas verdades que confesamos en nuestra fe y que se hallan contenidas en el credo. Pero, además, todo aquello que nuestro Señor Jesucristo nos prometió en el santo Evangelio y en lo que Dios nos transmitió por boca de sus profetas. Entre ellos, Isaías es el gran cantor de la esperanza, el profeta de la esperanza mesiánica por antonomasia. Y, aunque Isaías profetizó varios siglos antes de la llegada del Mesías, sus promesas son siempre actuales y perennes, pues llevan el sello de la eternidad de Dios. Hoy la Iglesia nos ofrece estas maravillosas palabras: En días futuros, el monte de la casa del Señor será elevado en la cima de los montes, encumbrado sobre las montañas y hacia él confluirán todas las naciones. Acudirán pueblos numerosos, que dirán: Venid, subamos al monte del Señor, a la casa del Dios de Jacob, para que Él nos instruya en sus caminos y podamos marchar por sus sendas. Porque de Sión saldrá la ley; de Jerusalén, la palabra del Señor... Él será el árbitro de las naciones y el juez de pueblos numerosos. De las espadas forjarán arados y de las lanzas, podaderas; ya no alzará la espada pueblo contra pueblo, ya no se adiestrarán para la guerra. Venid, marchemos, caminemos a la luz del Señor!. Son palabras que se refieren a la llegada del Mesías. Pero, al mismo tiempo, promesas que están siempre en espera de un cumplimiento definitivo. Con el nacimiento de Jesús en Belén, Dios cumplió su promesa. Pero aún no hemos llegado a esa bendita edad de oro anunciada por el profeta. Es la paz que anhela profundamente nuestro corazón y por la que suspira todo nuestro ser. Es la paz que poseeremos plenamente en la vida futura, en donde ya no habrá hambre, ni sed, ni caerá sobre ellos el sol ni calor alguno porque el Cordero, que está en medio del trono, los apacentará y los guiará hasta las fuentes de las aguas de la vida, y Dios enjugará toda lágrima de sus ojos (Apocalipsis 7, 16-17). FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT A esa paz llegaremos al final de los tiempos, cuando Dios cree unos cielos nuevos y una tierra nueva, y ya no se recuerde lo pasado.... Entonces nos gozaremos en un gozo y alegría eternas ante lo que Dios va a crear para nosotros Pero, para llegar a esa paz y a esa dicha bienaventurada, tenemos que preparar ya desde ahora nuestro corazón y tratar de vivir con el corazón en el cielo. Y con los pies sobre la tierra. Nuestro Redentor está para llegar esta Navidad, y necesitamos preparar nuestra alma para su próxima venida. Hemos de disponer nuestros corazones con la oración y la vigilancia como nos recomienda hoy el Señor en el Evangelio para poder vivir dignamente, en estado de gracia y en amistad con Él. Fue éste mismo el consejo que nos dejó antes de su Pasión: Vigilad y orad para que no caigáis en tentación, pues el espíritu está pronto, pero la carne es flaca (Mateo 26, 41). Si vivimos así, nuestra esperanza no será un idealismo utópico, sino una actitud existencial realista y un comportamiento cristiano personal y exigente. Así podremos prepararnos dignamente para la doble venida del Señor: en el tiempo y en la eternidad.
