2 MAY 27, 2018 THE MOST HOLY TRINITY Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity It s the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity, and once again time to reflect on the Power of Three. I learned recently that the triangle is the most powerful geometric shape in the world. Any added force is evenly spread through all three sides. Bridges and buildings that must carry a lot of weight have structural elements built on triangles. Doesn t that remind you of the Trinity? The love of the Father, the grace and peace of the Son, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit are all strong in equal measure. Imagine living with only two of those, and not the third. We need every side of the Trinity to strengthen us every day. Fiction writers know that the strongest stories involve three main characters to give an uneven, offkilter tension. Gone with the Wind needs Scarlet, Rhett, and Ashley Wilkes to give it its Greek tragedy contour. What would Harry Potter be without Harry, Hermione, and Ron traveling together through Hogwarts? And then there are music groups. Let s see. There s the Andrews Sisters, the Hansons, the Kingston Trio and the Supremes. I ll bet you can think of many more. (I think we talked about the Three Tenors last year.) The Olympics give medals in gold, silver and bronze. When we think of the future we say we are optimistic, pessimistic, or average. Our pain levels are high, medium, or low. The three primary colors are red, yellow and blue. The most basic harmony in music involves the third note in the scale. The concept of the Holy Trinity speaks to us because it s in our DNA (another three) here on planet earth, which is, of course, the third rock from the sun. With what Person of the Trinity do you most identify? Lo que El Viento se Llevo utilizó a Scarlet, Rhett, y Ashley Wilkes para lograr un contorno de tragedia griega. Qué sería de Harry Potter sin Harry, Hermione, and Ron viajando juntos por Hogwarts? That song is not just a way of passing time; It s our prayer, our praise to God. God inhabits the praises of his people, we read in Psalm 22. So, let s raise a song of praise at church and let God be there with us. Lectura del Evangelio El ultimo mandamiento de Jesús antes de su Ascensión es bautizar a las naciones, "en el nombre del Padre, del Hijo, y del Espíritu Santo." Cómo ves que la Iglesia sigue este mandamiento? VIVIR LA LITURGIA ~ El amor que existe entre las Personas de la Santísima Trinidad es intenso e intimo. Lo hermoso de esta enseñanza es que demuestra cómo el lenguaje humano palidece al intentar capturar la esencia de Dios. El Padre nos lleva a la parte de creativa y poderosa de Dios que en una forma tienda y meticulosa ha hecho tanto las montañas también a sus hijos. Mas aun, l Padre es mas que solo esto. El Hijo nos demuestra el amor incondicional de Dios, lleno de misericordia infinita y compasión, entiende el camino de los marginalizados y de los pobres, y no necesita los poderes creados o las estructuras que alienan o hieren a la gente. Y todavía, l Hijo es mas que esto. El Espíritu Santo es el aliento de Dios, es quien enseña sabiduría y nos trae comprensión, quien gobierna esta temporada y discierne los pensamientos de los corazones de los hombres. Sin embargo, el Espíritu Santo es mas que eso. Adoramos a un Dios que es mas allá y mas vinculado íntimamente a todo lo que ha hecho; sin el cual nada se puede sostener no existir. Alabemos a la Santísima Trinidad.
