WARNING Failure to read and follow the safety warnings and instructions in this document and in the operator s manual could result in death, serious injury, and/or property damage. The warnings and instructions must be read, understood, and followed when setting-up, operating, servicing, transporting, or storing the unit. WARNING Amputation or Laceration Hazard DO NOT make adjustments or repairs while the engine is running or the blades are rotating. DO NOT place hands or feet near rotating parts or under the mower deck. Keep clear of the discharge opening at all times. Mower blades are sharp wear heavy gloves when handling them. On multi-bladed mowers, rotating one blade could cause the other(s) to also rotate. WARNING Thrown Objects Hazard Safety Alert Symbol and Signal Words The safety alert symbol is used to identify safety information about hazards that can result in personal injury. A signal word (DANGER, WARNING, or CAUTION) is used with the alert symbol to indicate the likelihood and potential severity of injury. In addition, a hazard symbol may be used to represent the type of hazard. DANGER indicates a hazard which, if not avoided, will result in death or serious injury. WARNING indicates a hazard which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury. CAUTION indicates a hazard which, if not avoided, could result in minor or moderate injury. NOTICE: indicates an action that could result in damage to the product. CAUTION Stored Energy Hazard Keep hands away from tension springs when removing or installing mower deck or transmission belts. DO NOT operate the mower deck or the tractor unless the discharge deflector or the complete grass catcher assembly (if equipped) is properly installed. Frequently check the condition of the discharge deflector and grass catcher assembly (if equipped) for damage or wear and repair/replace with manufacturer s recommended parts as necessary. Deck Safety Decal If any safety or instructional decals become worn or damaged, and cannot be read, order replacement decals from your dealer. Safety Interlock System Tests The tractor is equipped with a Safety Interlock System. This system is present for your safety: do not attempt to bypass or tamper with the switches and devices. Check the system using the Safety Interlock System Tests listed in the Operator s Manual. Anytime the deck is removed and reinstalled, you must perform this test. 10

11 Preparation for Procedures 1 SIDE-TO-SIDE 3B Park tractor on a hard level surface. WARNING Before beginning any service work on the tractor or mower deck: set the parking brake, turn off the PTO, stop the engine then remove ignition key or safety key, and disconnect the spark plug wire(s). 4 Arrange the outside mower blades so they are pointing side-to-side. 5 Measure the distance between the outside tips and the ground. The difference between measurement (A and B) (should be less than 1/8 (3 mm). 6 IF AN ADJUSTMENT IS NEEDED. Tighten nuts (right or left side) as needed to adjust sideto-side leveling. Deck Installation 2 1 Lower mower deck to the LOWEST height of cut. 2 Remove the hitch from the deck. 3 Turn the wheels fully to the left. 4 Slide mower deck under right side of tractor. 5 Turn wheels straight ahead. 6 Install hitch on deck. 7 Lift hitch lining up holes with hanger. 8 Insert rod and secure with retainer pin. 9 Connect the deck brackets to the tractor lift brackets. 10 Place belt on the PTO pulley. 11 Move idler arm to remove belt tension. 12 Place belt on remaining pulley as shown. Deck Leveling WARNING 3A Wear heavy gloves when handling or working around cutting blades. Blades are extremely sharp and can cause severe injury. 1 Place the mower deck to the MID-HEIGHT of cut position. 2 Turn the wheels straight ahead. 3 Set the tires to the pressures shown. FRONT-TO-BACK (42 ) 3C 7 Arrange the left side mower blade so it points front-toback. 8 Measure the distance between the outside tips as shown and the ground. The difference between measurement (C and D) (should be less than 1/8 (3 mm). 9 IF AN ADJUSTMENT TO MEASUREMENT(D) IS NEEDED. To Lower (D) - Turn locknuts counterclockwise evenly on both sides to keep deck level (Side-to-Side). To Raise (D) - Turn locknuts clockwise evenly on both sides to keep deck level (Side-to-Side). FRONT-TO-BACK (46 & 52 ) 3C 7 Arrange the left side and center mower blades so they point front-to-back. 8 Measure the distance between the outside tips as shown and the ground. The difference between measurement (C and D) (should be less than 1/8 (3 mm). IF AN ADJUSTMENT TO MEASUREMENT(D) IS NEEDED. Note: Locknuts (9 and 10) must be turned evenly on both sides to keep deck level (Side-to-Side). en 11

12 To LOWER - measurement (D): 9 Loosen nuts. 10 Tighten nuts counterclockwise. 11 Check measurement (Step 7 & 8). When measurement is correct tighten nuts securely. To RAISE - measurement (D): 9 Turn nuts clockwise. 10 Tighten nuts. 11 Check measurement (Step 7 & 8). When measurement is correct tighten nuts securely. Lubrication 6 Add grease to fittings where shown. The pulleys are equipped with sealed bearings, which does not require lubrication. Blade Servicing 7 WARNING Deck Removal 4 1 Lower mower deck to the LOWEST height of cut. 2 Move idler arm to remove belt tension. 3 Remove belt from pulley. 4 Remove belt from the PTO pulley. 5 Disconnect deck brackets from the tractor lift brackets. 6 Remove retainer pin and rod. 7 Remove hitch from deck. 8 Turn the wheels fully to the left. 9 Remove deck from right side of tractor. Belt Replacement 5 REMOVE 1 Lower mower deck to the LOWEST height of cut. 2 Remove belt cover. 3 Move idler arm to remove belt tension. 4 Remove belt from pulley. 5 Remove belt from the PTO pulley. 6 Slide belt off - between pulley and belt guides (A). Loosen bolt if necessary. INSTALL Note: After installing new belt, check the belt guide (A) gap it should be approximately 1/8 (3.3 mm) away from belt. Torque the bolt as shown. Wear heavy gloves when handling or working around cutting blades. Blades are extremely sharp and can cause severe injury. For your personal safety, if blade is damaged, it must be replaced. Note: Deck must be removed to service blades. See Deck Removal. 1 To remove blade, use a block of wood to prevent blade rotation while loosening capscrew. 2 If the blade is in good condition, sharpen to an angle of 22 to 28 degrees. DO NOT sharpen beyond existing cutting edge. 3 After sharpening the blades, check to make sure they are balanced. Place the center hole of the blade on a nail lubricated with a drop of oil. A balanced blade will remain level. If necessary, correct blade balance by grinding the heavy end of the blade. 4 Reinstall the blade with the airlifts pointing up toward the mower deck as shown. WARNING For your personal safety, the blade mounting capscrews must be installed with a spring washer (A). 4 Ensure capscrews are tightened to the torque value shown. 12

ADVERTENCIA Peligro de objetos arrojados NO opere la cubierta del cortacésped ni el tractor a menos que el deflector de descarga o el conjunto completo del recogedor de césped (si está equipado) estén instalados adecuadamente. Revise frecuentemente la condición del deflector de descarga y del conjunto del recogedor de césped (si está equipado), en busca de daños o desgaste, y repare o reemplace con las piezas recomendadas por el fabricante, según sea necesario. Calcomanía de seguridad de la cubierta Si alguna calcomanía de seguridad o de instrucciones se desgasta o daña y no puede leerse, pida calcomanías de reemplazo a su distribuidor local. 14 Preparación para los procedimientos 1 Estacione el tractor en una superficie dura y nivelada. DE ADELANTE HACIA ATRÁS (46 & 52 ) 3C 7 Ordene las cuchillas izquierda y central de la cubierta del cortacésped, de modo que apunten de adelante hacia atrás. 8 Mida la distancia entre las puntas exteriores, como se muestra, y el suelo. La diferencia entre las mediciones (C y D) debería ser menor que 3 mm. SI SE NECESITA UN AJUSTE Nota: Las contratuercas (9 y 10) se deben girar uniformemente en ambos lados para mantener la cubierta nivelada (lado a lado).

15 Para DISMINUIR la medición (D): 9 Suelte las tuercas. 10 Apriete las tuercas en el sentido antihorario. 11 Revise la medición (pasos 7 y 8). Cuando la medición sea correcta, apriete las tuercas firmemente. Para AUMENTAR la medición (D): Lubricación 6 Agregue grasa en las conexiones según se indica. Las poleas restantes están equipadas con cojinetes sellados, los cuales no requieren lubricación. 9 Gire las tuercas en el sentido horario. 10 Apriete las tuercas. 11 Revise la medición (pasos 7 y 8). Retiro de la cubierta 4 1 Baje la cubierta del cortacésped a la altura de corte MÁS BAJA. 2 Mueva el brazo tensor para eliminar la tensión de la correa. 3 Retire la correa de la polea. 4 Retire la correa de la polea de toma de fuerza. 5 Desconecte los soportes de la cubierta desde los soportes de elevación del tractor. 6 Retire el pasador de retención y la varilla. 7 Retire el enganche de la cubierta. 8 Gire las ruedas completamente hacia la izquierda. 9 Retire la cubierta desde el lado derecho del tractor. Reemplazo de la correa 5 RETIRO 1 Baje la cubierta del cortacésped a la altura de corte MÁS BAJA. 2 Retire la cubierta de la correa. 3 Mueva el brazo tensor para eliminar la tensión de la correa. 4 Retire la correa de la polea. 5 Retire la correa de la polea de toma de fuerza. 6 Deslice la correa para retirarla, entre la polea y las guías de la correa (A). Suelte el perno si es necesario. INSTALACIÓN Nota: Después de instalar una nueva correa, revise la separación de la guía de la correa (A), debería estar aproximadamente a 3,3 mm de la correa. Aplique torsión al perno según se muestra. Mantenimiento de la cuchilla 7 ADVERTENCIA Use guantes gruesos de cuero cuando manipule o trabaje alrededor de las cuchillas de corte. Las cuchillas son extremadamente afiladas y pueden provocar lesiones graves. Por su seguridad personal, debe reemplazar la cuchilla si está dañada. Nota: Se debe retirar la cubierta para realizar mantenimiento en las cuchillas. Consulte Retiro de la cubierta 1 Para retirar la cuchilla, utilice un bloque de madera para evitar que la cuchilla gire mientras suelta el tornillo de cabeza. 2 Si la cuchilla está en buenas condiciones, afile a un ángulo de 22 a 28 grados. NO AFILE más allá de los bordes cortantes existentes. 3 Después de afilar las cuchillas, compruebe que están equilibradas. 17 Préparation aux procédures 1 Stationner le tracteur sur un sol en dur. TRANSVERSALEMENT 3B 4 Diriger les extrémités extérieures des lames de la tondeuse pour qu'elles pointent transversalement. 5 Mesurer la distance entre les extrémités extérieures et le sol. La différence entre les mesures (A et B) doit être inférieure à 3 mm (1/8 po). 6 SI UN RÉGLAGE S AVÈRE NÉCESSAIRE Au besoin, serrer les écrous (côté droit ou gauche) pour régler la mise à niveau transversalement. Pose du plateau 2 1 Abaisser le carter de coupe sur la position de coupe LA PLUS BASSE. 2 Retirer l attelage du plateau. 3 Tourner les roues à fond vers la gauche. 4 Glisser le carter de coupe sous le côté droit du tracteur. 5 Tourner les roues pour les remettre droites. 6 Poser l attelage sur le plateau. 7 Lever l attelage en alignant les trous avec la suspension. 8 Insérer la tige et l attacher à l aide de la goupille de retenue. 9 Attacher les supports du plateau aux bras de levage du tracteur. 10 Placer la courroie sur la poulie de PDF. 11 Déplacer le bras de tension pour relâcher la tension de la courroie. 12 Placer la courroie sur la poulie restante, comme sur l illustration. LONGITUDINALEMENT (42 ) 3C 7 Déplacer la lame de la tondeuse côté gauche pour qu'elle pointe longitudinalement. 8 Mesurer la distance entre les extrémités extérieures et le sol, comme sur l'illustration. La différence entre les mesures (C et D) doit être inférieure à 3 mm (1/8 po). 9 SI UN RÉGLAGE À LA MESURE (D) S'AVÈRE NÉCESSAIRE. Pour abaisser (D) - Tourner les écrous-freins dans le sens contraire des aiguilles d'une montre et uniformément sur les deux côtés pour maintenir à niveau le plateau (transversalement). Pour lever (D) - Tourner les écrous-freins dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre et uniformément des deux côtés pour maintenir à niveau le plateau (transversalement). LONGITUDINALEMENT (46 & 52 ) 3C Mise à niveau du plateau AVERTISSEMENT 3A Porter des gants épais pour manipuler les lames de coupe ou travailler autour. Les lames sont extrêmement aiguisées et peuvent être cause de graves blessures. 1 Placer le plateau de coupe sur la position de coupe INTERMÉDIAIRE. 2 Tourner les roues pour les remettre droites. 3 Régler la pression des pneus comme indiqué. 7 Diriger les extrémités des lames du centre et du côté gauche de la tondeuse pour qu elles pointent longitudinalement. 8 Mesurer la distance entre les extrémités extérieures et le sol, comme sur l illustration. La différence entre les mesures (C et D) doit être inférieure à 3 mm (1/8 po). SI UN RÉGLAGE S AVÈRE NÉCESSAIRE Remarque : Les écrous-freins (9 et 10) doivent être tournés uniformément des deux côtés pour maintenir à niveau le plateau (transversalement). fr 17

18 Pour ABAISSER - mesure (D) : 9 Desserrer les écrous. 10 Serrer les écrous dans le sens contraire des aiguilles d une montre. 10 Vérifier la mesure (étapes 7 et 8).
