3 Wallachian landscape is really various. Thanks to the hills we can enjoy many different types of winter sports. Children prefer sledging, on the other hand adults fancy skiing or cross-country skiing. 4 In winter time you can admire the gulf of Castellammare and the snowy Vesuvius, backdrop to the Vesuvian towns such as Pompei, destroyed in 79 BC. by an eruption, whose ashes were thrown by the wind on Castellammare FEBRUARY

5 Come visit the beautiful South Downs, take a walk through the stunning trees and admire the variety of colours. Hike up the chalky hills of the long man of Wilmington and admire the view of Arlington reservoir, then navigate your way down the steep slopes and trek to Beachy Head to lose yourself in the marvellous view of the sea. Have a delicious lunch at the pub and then head off to the high and over car park to look down upon the sheep and river. How could you possibly resist the amazing south downs? (Jack Crompton) MARCH

6 The 'Stemweder Berg' is a mountain which is 181 meters high. It is situated between Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia in the north of Germany. It was created about million years ago. In the surrounding areas, lots of maize and cereals are planted and there live about people.you can hike, cycle or relax in this region.in spring, the temperature is approximately 15 C. 7 The second largest lake in Lower Saxony is the Dümmer See, which is a centre of attraction for people of all ages in the summertime. For holiday guests, the Dümmer offers many possibilities to recover and to enjoy numerous activities. At the Dümmer See you can do sports like cycling, sailing, surfing and swimming.furthermore, you can go to a bar to enjoy the sunrise in the evening. The average depth of the lake is 1,10 m. That is why the Dümmer freezes in winter, so that you have the opportunity to iceskate on the lake. (Sophie, Monique) MAY

13 The town of Slavičín is surrounded by wonderful forests, especially coniferous and broad-leaved trees. Before the leaves fall off they create a fascinating scenery full of wonderful colours. This countryside provides the habitats for many kinds of animals. (Jan, Martina, Anna, Lenka) NOVEMBER

14 Diepholz (16000 inhabitants) is a town situated in the north of Germany near Bremen. There are many different landscapes. You can discover woods, moors and fields. The farmers grow different kinds of cereals, for example barley, rye, wheat, rape and oats. The most grown cereals are corn. When you drive through the villages around Diepholz, you can see it everywhere. But they don t grow in winter. Sometimes it snows in winter.
