1 Overview This NOS is about working on the runway where aircraft may be present. This NOS consists of two elements: 1 Work on the runway 2 Inspect the runway Who this NOS is for This NOS is for people who work in airside operations, working on the runway and aerodrome manoeuvring area. 1

2 Performance criteria Work on the runway You must be able to: P1 P2 P3 P4 P5 P6 P7 work safely on the runway in all conditions maintain records required by your organisation when working on the runway obtain and maintain a driving permit according to local rules in line with the relevant Civil Aviation Publication deal with incidents on the aerodrome runway in line with local procedures deal with the removal of a disabled aircraft escort third parties onto the runway as applicable in line with local procedures handover the runway on re-opening Inspect the runway You must be able to: P8 inspect the following on the runway: P8.1 surface P8.2 lights P8.3 signage P8.4 markings P8.5 wildlife management P8.6 safeguarded surfaces P8.7 NAVaids and critical areas P9 inspect and report the runway condition following an emergency situation P10 inspect and report the runway condition in adverse weather conditions including snow P11 ensure the critical runway surfaces are protected (TOCs, transitional slopes) P12 use radiotelephony equipment P13 report and monitor inspection findings 2
