RC MMA Piquet-Gautier - COVEA CAUTION Traverse the Dolomites Surreal landscapes of the Italian Alps The Dolomites, located in the extreme North-East of Italy are named after a geologist, Mr. Déodat Dolomieu, intrigued by the strange appearance of the rocks, discovered and studied their composition in Many remains bear witness to the turbulent history of this region, notably from during WW1 : tunnels, roads carved into the rock, and via ferrata... for which the mountains are renowned. But the Dolomites also offer many hiking trails. There is no need to walk very long or on difficult paths to discover the breathtaking surroundings. PASSO DELLE ZIGOLADE - ROSENGARTEN The trek starts between pastures and forests. This stage is marked by the passage of the Passo delle Zigolade (2550m) with curiously interesting spikes and peaks. The Rosengarten massif is probably one of the most spectacular of the Dolomites. Night in a refuge at the foot of Rosengarten. 5.5 hour walk / Elevation: +790m -760m Day 2 ROSENGARTEN - ALPES DE TIRES From the refuge, head towards Passo Principe and Molignon through a universe of towers, pointy peaks and imposing rocky cliff faces. Night in Refuge Alpes de Tires. 6.5 hour walk / Elevation: +1100m -750m Day 3 ALPES DE TIRES - PASSO SELLA In a high mountain pasture atmosphere, the biggest in Europe, the balcony trail traverses the massif to reach Sasso Piato Refuge. The contrast is quite striking in this rolling green landscape of the Alpe di Siusi, compared to the first two days of the journey. Detour possible via Sassolungo. Night in a gîte at Passo Sella. 5 hour walk / Elevation: +200m -400m Day 4 HIGH SELLA PLATEAU - PASSO GARDENA New day, new mountain pass. After a short vehicle transfer, ascend the Val Lasties and Val Tita to reach the high Sella plateau. Short cabled section to reach the lake at Pisciadiu Refuge, just below the Pisciadiu summit. Descend to Passo Gardena. Night in a hotel. 6-7 hour walk / Elevation: +1060m -950m Day 5 PASSO SOMALFUCIA - VILLA STERN Climb to the Cier pass between the astonishing Pizes towers. Climb to Somalfucia Pass then to Puez Refuge. Descend via the small valleys of Cianpani, to arrive in Villa Stern. Short transfer to the village of Armentarola. Night in a comfortable gîte. 6 hour walk / Elevation: +620m -1350m Day 6 HIGH FANES PLATEAU Climb to the Forcella Pass, through pastures and rocky scree to access the High Fanes plateau, dominated by the summit Piz de Lavarella. Superb mineral plateau of lappiaz rocks dotted with grassy islands and crystal clear cold water alpine lakes. Night in a refuge. 6 hour walk / Elevation: +1100m -720m Day 7

3 FORCELA DE LECH - PASSO VALPAROLA Climb to Forcela de Lech, followed by a magnificent descent to the Scotoni Refuge. Without forgetting a little stop at the dazzling turquoise Lago Laguazuoi. 4 hour walk / Elevation: +800m -550m Endpoint at 2:30pm at Passo Costalunga. The itinerary is established according to the latest information available, the possibility of unknown factors affecting this itinerary is possible including situations beyond our control which may change the route, timings etc. Personalised tour available, contact us... LEVEL *** The trip Elevation: +/- 1000m approximately per day. Walking time: 4 to 7 hours per day. Type of trek: mountain trail with a few rocky passages (no climbing) requires a little flexibility. BAGGAGE TRANSPORT Your baggage will be transported daily between accommodation by our logistics vehicle. You are allowed 1 soft, sports type bag with all your possessions inside, no heavier than 10kg (for your own ease and comfort carrying your bag up stairs and in the dormitories, we do not advise rigid suitcases, heavy or large baggage). If you wish to prolong your holiday, we can safely hold another bag for you which you may leave with us at the departure point and it will be deposited at the end point with your other baggage.
