Then leave behind the bikes and begin trekking for about hours up hill through Ban Mok Prai (Hmong village). Arrive at Ban Phou Luang Tai (Hmong village) where we will stay over night in a simple guesthouse. (B,L,D) ELEPHANTS, BIKING AND TREKKING 2 HIGHLIGHTS: LUANG PRABANG I KAMU I HMONG VILLAGES I ELEPHANT RIDING This 2 day adventure makes a great add-on to any Luang Prabang visit. The combination of cycling, trekking, elephant riding and boat rides makes for a unique way to soak up the lush forests surrounding the Mekong river. You will also get to meet some traditional hilltribe villages. Day 1: Luang Prabang kamu Village (Cycle 1.5hrs; Elephant Ride 1.5hrs) Start cycling out of town, through small villages along the way. You will see Ban Phanom, the cotton and silk hand-weaving village. After a 15 km ride, arrive at the Nam Khan valley for lunch. Cross the river by local boat to start our Elephant ride at the Elephant Park Project area. Enjoy a visit to Tat Sae waterfall (August to January only) before heading back to the camp with a motorboat. A short and easy trek will bring you to the small Kamu community where stay overnight in a traditional homestay (L,D) Grade: Moderate Day 2: Trekking To Kamu Village (Trek 6 Hrs) After breakfast, continue on small hiking trails to more Hmong & Kamu villages to learn more about their lives. Enjoy the trails winding into small fields and agricultural areas before you have a long downhill walk back to the Nam Khan River. Stop at a waterfall for a swim, before returning by car to Luang Prabang. (B,L) 41
