3 Welcome Note Dear Friends, Warm greetings from Les Clefs d Or India! When we were awarded e tittle of e 42nd Independent section of UICH in Toronto in 2011, ere was a feeling of achieving our goal. However we always wanted to host one of e international event of our Parent body. Hosting e 10 Asian Congress in Mumbai in e mon of September, 2017will not only give us sense of achievement, it will also give us a platform to do more bigger events for Les Clefs d Or International In India. Our members are from e hotel lobby Concierges wearing e golden keys. They not only promote eir hotels but also promote eir cities, State and Country. As ambassadors of eir city, ey promote tourism, shopping, restaurants, cultural activities to name a few. Today when we host our 1st International event in India we look for e support and guidance from our friends from across e country. Around 300 concierges from 35 countries from Asia and around e world are expected to visit Mumbai for is prestigious event. We are trying our best to put is magnificent event togeer so at our guests not only experience our hospitality, culture and traditions. After e event when ey go back ey will be our country s ambassadors in eir own countries and promoting India as traveling destination for all eir guests. These crossed gold keys are more an just e symbol of e organization ey are e symbol of guaranteed, quality service. Concierge Clefs d'or will accommodate every guest request so long as it is morally, legally, and humanly possible. Their services run e gamut from e mundane to e extraordinary, yet each request is fulfilled wi vigor to e guest's full satisfaction. Concierge Clefs d'or handle all duties wi zeal: mail and messages, recommendations and reservations, travel and meeting planning, personal s h o p p i n g a n d p r o f e s s i o n a l communications. They are also supreme social advisors, business expediters, and personal confidantes. On ose rare occasions when guests' requests cannot be fulfilled singlehandedly, Les Clefs d'or Concierges have e necessary back-up: a neverending network of acquaintances, friends, and colleagues from around e world to see to it at guests' demands are met. Les Clefs d'or members have dedicated many years of hard work and training to e concierge profession. They are pleasant and welcoming in appearance, t h e y r e m a i n c a l m i n a h e c t i c environment, and ey always display integrity. Indeed, discretion is e hallmark of a Concierge Clefs d'or. Les Clefs d'or Concierges have eir fingers on e pulses of eir cities, able to advise guests on restaurants, night life, sporting and eater events, sightseeing tours, shopping, etc. They can direct guests to any location, to any product, at any time of day or night. Les Clefs d'or Concierges are motivated by a genuine desire to serve. They are prudent, patient, kind toward guests and staff alike, self-confident, tenacious, persistent, adaptable, ingenious, disciplined, and flexible. The global environment of today's business world demands at concierges be able to converse wi all travelers, from Albania to Zaire. Many Clefs d'or members are multilingual and most are well-versed in many cultures. Les Clefs d'or Concierges have worked hard to obtain eir keys. Wheer requesting someing simple or complex, you can be sure ey are trusted resources to business travelers and vacationers alike, always keeping guests' safety, enjoyment, and satisfaction in mind.

5 Introduction to Les Clefs d'or International Les Clefs d'or is an international network of men and women wi common interests and goals. They have eir own mystique, a combination of eir expertise sources of inside i n f o r m a t i o n, i n t e l l i g e n c e a n d communication. The Association is non-political, non-religious and definitely not a trade union of any sort but is based on friendship between members to assist international travellers and tourist. Les Clefs d'or is a not-for-profit Association made up of professional hotel Concierge. The Concierge members of is Association are principally dedicated to e promotion and facilitation of travel and tourism. Les Clefs d'or members are continuously seeking out innovations and advancements in e travel and tourism industry focusing particularly on e area of hotel Concierge services, while always respecting e history and traditions of e hotel Concierge profession. Les Clefs d'or (pronounced lay clay door ) is French and literally translates as e keys of gold. The crossed gold keys are e international symbol of e organization. Displayed on a concierge's uniform lapels, e crossed-key symbol assures travelers ey are dealing wi a seasoned professional, one who is dedicated to serving eir every need. Les Clefs d'or concierges will attend to any request so long as it is moral, legal, and kind. Les Clefs d'or is e only national association of professional hotel concierges in e world to have established Les Clefs d'or associations. The keys on a Clefs d'or concierge's u n i f o r m w e r e d e s i g n e d a n d manufactured by Bucherer Jewelers (Switzerland). The design is internationally trademarked. Individual countries may trademark eir own national versions of ese crossed keys on an individualized background. Les Clefs d'or concierges are community conscious. Working wiin eir local areas, many host extravagant fundraising events at have helped to raise hundreds of ousands of dollars for local charities as well as for Les Clefs d'or Foundation of e Americas (a foundation at was established to assist concierges and/or eir family members who are no longer able to work due to catastrophic illness). Part Merlin, part Houdini, Les Clefs d'or concierges make e impossible possible. The conciergerie, wi its roots in France, was (and still is, at least in Europe) a largely male-dominated field. Les Clefs d'or International boasts a 45-country membership roster and almost 3,800 members worldwide: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Czech Republic, Dubai, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Macau, Norway, New Zealand, Philippines, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, UAE and e USA. Officially registered as U.I.C.H(Union Internationale des Concierge d'hotel), Les Clefs d'or is an international network of men and women wi common interests and goals. 6 The first such association saw e light of day on 6 Oct 1929, when 11 Concierges from e grand hotels of Paris realized at ey could operate more effectively as a team an individually. If ey could join forces, ey felt, ey could make eir services more indispensable. The two oldest associations are e French and e Swedes. The Dutch chapter was founded in 1937 and oer countries associations date from about e same time. Many were e result of e depression in e late twenties and early irties. The associations were allied to help each oer on unemployment, illness and adversities. There was however, no real sign of any intentional cooperation until after WW II. On 25 April 1952, delegates from nine countries met in Cannes to hold e first congress and created L'Union Europeene des Portiers des Grands Hotel (UEPGH). Its creation was made possible by Ferdinand Gillet, e Chef Concierge en of Hotel Scribe in Paris, e industry knows him as e 'Faer of Les Clefs d'or'. The second congress was held in San Remo, Italy in Dec 1953, is saw e creation of e journal 'Revue Europeene' and e adoption of e society's insignia and badge, e Golden Keys. This congress held yearly in different member countries has become a major feature in e Concierge calendar as an avenue to renew and make new contacts and share eir experiences and ideas.15 November 1972 at e 20 Int'l Congress in Mallorca, Spain UEPGH was changed to UIPGH, Union Internationale des Portiers des Grandes Hotels, us making e Society of e Golden Keys a worldwide organization. 7 Introduction to Les Clefs d'or India Les Clefs d'or India is an association a f fi l i a t e d t o L e s C l e f s d ' O r International. This association represents Hotel Concierges who are recognizable by e crossed keys on eir lapels, sharing a common interest & goals. It is a non-political, nonreligious & not a trade union of any sort but is based on friendship between members to assist International tourists & travelers. The association has been registered wi e Registrar of Societies & has been into existence since July 2000 under Les Clefs d'or Singapore & later on accepted as an Independent chapter by UICH in April Les Clefs d'or India now has a presence all over e country, including all e metro cities. Its members have grown in numbers & major activities are organized to promote awareness of e Concierge profession. Having started out as a little fledgling wi 10 members (all Adherent members to Les Clefs d'or, Singapore) it has risen to a very substantial number of over a 100 golden key concierges and approximately 65 members waiting and learning e ropes to become Clefs d'or members.we now have a presence all over India, including all e metro cities. We have managed to achieve all our goals set in our 9 AGM in Kolkata. Under e effective leadership of UICH Zone director Asia Edwin Saldahna, Albert Amanna in West; Albert John, Arun Kumar Baidya, Rajesh Yadav in Nor; Kishen Raghuna, Sam John, Vignesh in Souand David Aaron, Amitava Sarkar in East all four sections are always bustling wi activities. In 2001 our 1st AGM was very well received and ere were very positive signs of Progress. However, on account of factors beyond our control e Association went into hibernation. The same was revived and e good work started out by e Delhi Members was taken up by e few remaining members in Mumbai, e formation of e Western Region of e CAI was established in This was e turnaround and moment of trust today's Les Clefs d'or India which has pioneered many success stories by enhancing its contribution to e world of Clefs d'or. This success of Les Clefs d'or India is dedicated to its members who have contributed immensely towards our ultimate goal, i.e. Les Clefs d'or India. Of course all is would not be possible wiout e continuous support of President Tan and Les Clefs d'or Singapore, also must not forget e role Maurice Dancer, Shujaat Khan, Virginia Casale and Michael Romie who have personally been in touch wi over e years. Today, Les Clefs d'or India has spread its wings in all major metro cities of India such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and still growing in major tourist destinations like Goa, Kerala, Mysore and more. The association now has four major regions which has been fostering grow of oer cities in e respective regions. The respective sections wiin India continueto enroll new members, educate new star hotels and members about Clefs d'or. Les Clefs d'or India now scheduled to host e 10 Asian Congress in 2017 in Mumbai city which will bring all e Asian countries togeer for grow of tourism and hospitality in Asia. It is e best time to showcase India and its tourism to e participating countries of e world. This cannot be possible wiout e support of e Government sector, e hotel industry and tourism industry as well.

9 India s Contribution to Les Clef d Or International Mr. Edwin Saldanha Past President, Les Clefs d Or India Edwin Saldahna, e visionary behind Les Clefs d'or India, Head Concierge at The Oberoi Hotel, Mumbai, is renowned for offering luxury experiences to his guests. Edwin began when at school, joining The Oberoi Hotel as a Page Boy in 1986 and has spent his life as a successful Concierge for few decades now. Striking out to make a name for himself, he became more curious to curate experiences. For over a decade, Edwin Saldanha built a dazzling career catering to his ever-loyal guests making it a point to stop by his desk and be spoilt by his luxury services. He became known for his uncanny ability to bring out e individuality of Mumbai by his elegant and precise eye for detail. Throughout his career, Edwin has played an active role in e development of Les Clefs d'or India, formerly known as Concierge Association of India, holding key positions including at of e President for two consecutive terms. He also worked wi Les Clefs d'or International closely wi its development and continues to offer his selfless contribution to e fraternity where he is popular amongst his fellow concierge colleagues - bo home and abroad - and, as a result, was nominated and elected to e Zone Director Asia UICH in Edwin has been a mentor to many young and upcoming concierge and helped many of e society's members make eir way in our industry. Most of all, Edwin has remained everyone's friend, and he is truly appreciated for being ere for everyone. He is equally admired for his genuinely sweet nature, his calm professionalism and his unwavering discretion, as is evident by his long relationships wi a roaster of celebrity guests. Edwin Saldanha has been wi Les Clefs d'or International since 2001, making a mark wi his selfless contribution. He was overjoyed to have started a new chapter in his long, exciting journey as a Zone Director Asia UICH and hopes to spend many, many years sharing his special talent of service rough friendship. Now, Edwin Saldanha brings more an two decades of knowledge, friendship and experience to India in 2017 when Les Clefs d'or India stages e biggest event in Asia and again in 2019 when friends from across e globe will visit e Incredible India to participate at e International Congress!
