OtherareaswheretheexistingConstitutionis provingverydemandingincludeformationof theexecutivecommittee(e.g.currently,there mustbe11executiveofficers averylarge numberforagroupsuchasours);holding executivemeetings(e.g.6ofthe11needtobe presentforquorum itisnotalwayseasyfor6 tobeavailableatthesametime);orholdingthe annualgeneralmeeting(e.g.currently,30 membersoftheassociationarerequiredfor thequorum_thispastjuly,25members attendedtheagmwiththeresultthatit becameaninformationmeetingandnotone thatcouldtakedecisionssuchaselectinganew executive).limitationssuchasthesesuggest thatmaintainingahealthy,functioning Associationcouldbecomeincreasinglydifficult ifnotimpossible. FALL2013 ) Fortunately,thedraftersofthe1993 Constitutionhadtheforesighttoincludea formulabywhichthedocumentcanbe amendedifagreedtobyatleast7officersofthe executivecommittee.thepreviousexecutive committeehavingremainedinplaceasnonew committeeofficerscouldbeelectedinjuly,they agreedtoreviewthedocumentandtopropose changesthatwouldmakeiteasierforthe executivetofunctionandtocontinuetorunthe organizationonbehalfofthemembershipat large.mycolleaguestaskedmeasimmediate pastpresidenttoproposechangesthatwould giveusamoreflexibledocumentthatbetter reflectsourcurrentrealities.overthesummer, Imadeanumberofproposalsincludinga smallerexecutivecommittee(7insteadof11); asmallerquorumforexecutivemeetings(4 insteadof6);andasmallerquorumforthe AGM(25membersinsteadof30).OnOctober 27,8officersofthecurrentexecutivemetand approvedtheproposedamendments.thenew documentwillbepostedsoononourwebsite. Thisyear,wesawdoublelastyear sparticipation.29boats with99fishersparticipated,amongthem21childrenofage12 andunder,4teenagers,42adultassociationmembersand32 adultguests. Thecompetitionwasdividedinto2categories,children12 andunderandadults.allfishhadtobepresentedtothe weigh_instationalivebeforetheendofthederby. Duetostrongwinds,theweigh_in,whichisusuallyonapontoonanchorednearSeagullIsland,hadtobe movedtoadockinbaieduchemindelapéninsule.trophieswereawardedforthe3largestfishineach category. Overhecourseofthesummer,15newmembersnotregisteredin2012 joinedtheassociation,makingusdreamofthepossibilityofreachingour goal. UnfortunatelyMotherNaturechangedtheresults.Thebadweatherof springandthenumerousgloomyweekendsinjuneandjulymeantthat manyownersdidnotcomeveryoftentotheircottagesornevercame; consequently,manyownersdidnotrenewtheirmembershipdespite numerousremindersandsolicitationsonourpart.result:33members registeredin2012didnotrenewtheirregistration.therearethus officially168registeredmembersin2013. Theeveningendedwithparticipantsgatheredaroundahugebonfire.
