3 MTB ZONE PAMPOROVO-MECHI CHAL The biggest MTB zone on the Balkans Velo Park Pamporovo was officially opened in July Ever since, the park does not stop evolving and attracts every summer all and sundry with its mountain biking trails and routes, growing in number and variety. The park offers different difficulty level trails, suitable for children and adults, pro and amateur bikers and cyclists with different skills. In 2016 a new area near Chepelare and Mechi Chal was added and its development is now in progress. At the moment Velo Park Pamporovo has over 21 miles of marked separate trails with different difficulty level. 3 of them are special downhill race trails, there are also the unique for Bulgaria professional four cross trail, flow line and many family routes, enduro paths and skill mastering tracks.

5 MONDAY: Offroad Safari Chairski Ezera (Lakes Chaira) One-day tour. Departure from Pamporovo resort to Trigradsko Zhdrelo and Goevren village. The Chaira lakes are reached through off-road SUVs. Arrival back: 4.00 PM. Price: 58 BGN per person

6 TUESDAY: With Lifeboats in Golubovitsa Cave The Golubovitsa cave is one of the local caves that has not been thoroughly explored yet. It consists of 4 chambers, you could explore together with professional speleologist guides, inflatable lifeboats and special equipment (Wellingtons, life-jackets). 7 WEDNESDAY: A Rock Climbing Adventure A one-day adventure at the park near the Neviastata eco path trek. The park consists of: climbing wall, rope garden, a small alpine trolley, Via ferrata, rock climbing and a large alpine trolley, 460ft long, at 40m height. 10 SATURDAY: Bike Adventure The trekking route depends on the group size, level and preferences, as well as the weather conditions. We provide experienced guides and bike instructors, who assist with the ride and share pro tips about it. Price includes bike rental and safety gear. 18 ACTIVITIES HORSE RIDING IN PAMPOROVO The horse ranch is situated within the Pamporovo resort, in the Yazovira region. 19 ACTIVITIES SPORT CENTER IN PERELIK HOTEL 5* The semi-olympic (25m) pool of Perelik hotel is often host of swimming training camps and classes. 20 ACTIVITIES NEVYASTATA ECO PATH TRAIL The Bride eco trail is a real adventure: the route will challenge you with a climbing wall, rope garden with 3 bridges and a small alpine trolley. A larger alpine trolley, 460ft long, more rock climbing and Via Ferratta are also part of the route. From Tourist Center: 7 km ROPE GARDEN ORPHEUS HOTEL A rope garden with 14 elements, different in difficulty and accessibility and 100ft long alpine trolley are among the features. Each mission challenges the balance, skills, coordination and the strategic approach of the gamers, without requiring too much efforts. From Tourist Center: 10 min BLACK HORSE ROPE GARDEN The rope park is situated in the Studenets area. Consists of 2 rope bridges, each 65ft long and a 100ft long trolley. Unique drop system, holding the body in horizontal position, recreates the feeling of free-flying in the air. From Tourist Center: 20 min or 10 min ALPINE TROLLEY CHEPELARE ZipLine Chepelare is an alpine trolley, situated at the exit/ entrance of Chepelare, on the road to Plovdiv. 22 NATURE Snezhanka Tower The Snezhanka Tower is one of the symbols of Pamporovo and the Rhodopes. Tower s height is 511ft and it offers a majestic 360⁰ view from its panoramic terrace. 100 National Tourist From Tourist Center: 25 min 84а Sites of Bulgaria Three Mountains Panoramic View Stand Built in 2017, the panoramic view platform, just 1300ft away from Snezhanka Tower, quickly gained popularity with the visitors and now is a must-see attraction on every list of places to see in Pamporovo. The wooden construction overlooks the three mountain massifs of Pirin, The Rhodopes and Rila. From Tourist Center: 40 min Orpheus Rocks and Perelik Panoramic View Stand The emblematic tourist attraction The Rocks of Orpheus, the Thracian king s son, is close to Pamporovo resort and Snezhanka Tower. A marked trail leads to the rock formation, where an incredible view towards the Rhodopes Mountain can be seen. On the way to the rocks, one can visit the newly-built panoramic platform. 23 NATURE Smolyan Lakes Smolyan Lakes are situated near the town of Smolyan, near the Snezhanka peak and the Rocks of Orpheus. Once 20 in number, now they are only 9, yet, the most beautiful are still preserved. The lakes offer spectacular views and many options to relax and have fun. Smolyan Lakes are reached through hiking or via a 2-chair lift (No4). From Tourist Center: 45 min Mechi Chal Peak Mechi Chal summit (6141ft) is situated right above the city of Chepelare and 5 miles away from Pamporovo resort. The peak is easy to reach by hiking trails or via a chairlift. The place boasts with one of the longest ski trail in Bulgaria. A chapel with separate zones for fun, picnic or relax are built in the area. From Tourist Center: 8 km or 25 min (with 5 km) Smilyan Village The village of Smilyan is popular not only with its picturesque old houses, a popular photo-destination, but also with its gourmet spots, giving a taste of the Rhodopes cuisine the unique Museum of Beans gives an outlook of the most popular Bulgarian food, and in the local dairies you can try the real Bulgarian feta cheese! 24 NATURE Rozhen Meadows The beautiful meadows of Rozhen are named after the peak, they are near to Rozhen (4711ft). The meadows host traditional folklore festivals and fests. The National Observatory, also named after Rozhen (NAO Rozhen) is nearby. From Tourist Center: 8 km Kartola The Kartola site is situated near the village of Momchilovtsi, approximately 3 miles away from it and close to Momchil Yunak lodge. Naturally formed lakes and incredible panoramic view towards the Perelik-Mursalski region of the Rhodopes Mountain are among its assets. Last couple of years the area successfully develops ski sports. In summer it is suitable for biking, wall-climbing, paintball, motocross and others. From Tourist Center: 14 km The Waterfalls Canyon and Soskovcheto Reserve The eco path goes around the natural reserve Soskovcheto and i s about 4 miles long. The trail is a journey through the natural phenomena and bio-diversity of the reserve. Hiking takes about 4 hours and leads to the incredibly beautiful scenery of the canyon, 6km long. 25 NATURE Golyam Perelik Summit and The House of Bears The Golyam Perelik (Big Perelik) peak (7188ft) is the highest in the Rhodopes Mountain. It is reached for an hour, starting from Perelik Lodge. Walk will get you also to the House of Bears, hosting the annual Jazz Fest with the same name 100 National Tourist From Tourist Center: 20 km 85 Sites of Bulgaria Panoramic view stand Orlovo Oko, Yagodina village The platform is situated at 5 128ft on the top of the highest local peak Saint Elija (Sveti Iliya). Reaching the stand is through offroad SUVs. The stand is built above the Buynovsko Zhdrelo, 2 263ft. From Tourist Center: 48 km Panoramic view stand Vulchi Kamak, Goevren village The stand is located on the most popular local hilltop, called The wolf s stone. It is situated northeast of the Goevren village, 5413ft high. The stand is the highest on the Balkans and the especially build platform overlooks the majestic scenery of the Rhodopes Mountain. Vulchi Kamak stand is reachable via off-road SUVs; ride is through dirt roads, crossing beautiful meadows and forests. From Tourist Center: 48 km

26 NATURE 5. Zaburdo Eco Path Track The newly made eco track connects the beautiful village of Zaburdo with the rock phenomena The Wonderful Bridges. It offers a journey through beautiful forests and breath-taking views, small chapels and crystal Rhodopes mountain springs; great route for sightseeing! From Tourist Center: 40 km The Natural Phenomena of the Wonderful Bridges The natural arches of the Wonderful Bridges makes it a mustsee attraction, amazing rock phenomena, one of the most attractive in Bulgaria. The site is located 5 miles away from the Zaburdo village. The rock massif is right under the Goliam Persenk peak (6860ft), at 4757ft. Its formation is probably due to earthquakes, with the additional assistance of the natural process of erosion, forming the two beautiful and magnificent marble bridges From Tourist Center: 43 km 100 National Tourist 85 Sites of Bulgaria Garga Dere Canyon The route starts about a mile near the village of Koshnitsa, where the Golubovitsa cave is situated a four chamber cave of incredible beauty. 147ft alpine trolley and Via Ferrata are also among the attractions. 27 NATURE Village of Gela The popular village of Gela is situated at the foot of the Rhodopes Mountain peaks of peaks Goliam Perelik, Orpheus peak and Turlata, as the village is 11 miles away from Pamporovo and 18 miles away from Smolian town. Legends say the mythical ancient Thracian singer Orpheus went down the cave Diavolsko gurlo to bring back from the dead his beloved Eyridice. Every year the village hosts the National Bagpipe Festival, bringing together hundreds of fans of Bulgarian folk music and also tourists and professionals. From Tourist Center: 18 km Orpheus Summit The Orpheus summit, also known as Shilesta Chuka is the second highest peak in the Rhodope Mountain region. From Tourist Center: 25 km Struilitsa Eco Path Trail, Devin city The eco trail starts about 1.8 miles away from the city of Devin s center. The route is about 3-4 miles long, taking over 2 hours to explore and hike. The path walks around the Kaleto castle ancient ruins, near the Lakata river and one of the highest Rhodope Mountain s waterfalls Samodivskoto Pruskalo (164ft) (The Villa s Springs). 28 CAVES Devil s Throat Cave The Dyavolskoto Gurlo (Devil s Throat) Cave is situated a mile away from Trigrad village and the popular Trigrad Gorge, a spectacular canyon of vertical marble rocks. The main chamber of the cave, open for visitors, is a large hall with the highest underground waterfall on the Balkans. 100 National Tourist From Tourist Center: 50 km 88 Sites of Bulgaria Yagodina Cave The large cave of Yagodina consists of 3 laye chamber, total of 7 miles long. Only the third layer is open for tourists and power - lighted. As most caves, Yagodina cave has a permanent temperature of 6 C and 92% humidity. 100 National Tourist From Tourist Center: 43 km 89 Sites of Bulgaria Golubovitsa Cave Located 3km south of Uhlovitsa Cave, on the right side of the Garga Dere/ Garga brook; the four-chamber Golubovitsa cave is only accessible by boat, as the first 25m or so is completely underwater. Special equipment is obligatory as well as speleologist guide. From Tourist Center: 45 km Uhlovitsa Cave Uhlovitsa cave is about 1509ft long, 1305ft of which explored and developed. 29 HISTORY Natural Architectural Reserve Shiroka Laka The village of Shiroka Laka is a natural architectural and folklore reserve as more than 90 local artifacts are important cultural assets and memorials. Most of these are authentic Rhodopa mountain houses built in a unique for the area architectural style. The most popular among them are the Zgurovska, the Uchikovska and the Grigorovska houses. The village has 2 must-see churches Sveti Nikola (St. Nickola) and Dormition of the Mother of God Uspenie Bogorodichno. 100 National Tourist From Tourist Center: 14 km 87 Sites of Bulgaria Smolyan Fortress Aetoss The Byzantine fortress, aged VI century, is located right next to the St Panteleymon Monastery, situated at the Eastern slope of the Sokolitsa peak. During the first and second Bulgarian Kingdom the fortress played an important protective role of the area, with the Ottoman occupation it was destroyed and abandoned. From Tourist Center: 7 km The Kaleto Castle near Koshnitsa village The late-antiquity castle near the village of Koshnitsa is situated on the hilltop of a cone-shaped peak of marble karst, with an opening within the massif, forming a cave. The cave is also part of a Byzantine castle and together with the Smolyan fortress are attractions along the Central Trans-Rhodopean road through the center of the mountains, you must visit as you go. 30 HISTORY The Amazing City of Smolyan The city of Smolyan is truly spectacular and a must-see in your travel list of Bulgarian cities the regional centre of culture and tourism hosts events, organizes fests, serves as an administrative center and is an attraction itself, a point of interest to see in the Western Rhodopes. The city is situated in the former basin of the Cherna river. The two sides of the river have 3 major districts Smolyan, Raykovo and Ustovo. Nowadays Smolyan is a mix of traditions and innovations, combining old-times Rhodopean architecture with modern buildings. The city is just 11 miles away from Pamporovo. The modern city center is reno- vated in a way, highlighting the best assets of both worlds old and new, urban buildings and nature in one. From Tourist Center: 15 km Perperikon (Perperek) Perperikon is an ancient archeological artifact of the Eastern Rhodopes. The ancient Thracian megalith monument, built-in the rocks is the largest on the Balkans, 15 km northeast of the present-day city of Kardzhali. The artifact consists of a large megalith sanctuary, approx old, ancient monuments and memorials and a Middle Ages fortress. The rock city stands on a cliff top at a height of 1542ft. 31 HISTORY Momchilova Krepost (Momchil Fortress) The Momchil Fortress is situated near the Gradat village, 10 miles away from the city of Smolyan. The fortress is built during the Late antiquity (XIV century) as part of the fortified border system of castles and fortresses against the Bysantine barbarians and the northern tribes inviding the area. From Tourist Center: 34 km Ethnographic Areal Complex of Zlatograd The city of Zlatograd is Bulgaria s most Southern point is home of more than 100 memorials, monuments and cultural artifacts. The Ethnographic Areal Complex in the heart of the city shows the way the town looked over 100 years ago. The city was a Thracian settlement, invaded and inhibited by large variety of nations through the centuries - Persians, Greeks, Celts, Romans, Goths, Slavs, Russians, Crusaders, and Turks.The city, similar to Rome, was built around seven hills and is often referred to as The City of the Seven Hills. 32 MUSEUMS Planetarium Smolyan City The largest Planetaruim in Bulgaria opens doors in 1975 and ever since, enjoys popularity and is visited all year round by city guests, students and fascinated with the sky enthusiasts. More than 50 sessions (special programs) to see are available in different languages. From Tourist Center: 17 km 100 National Tourist 83а Sites of Bulgaria Regional Museum of History Smolyan The historical museum in Smolyan, founded in 1935 by Stoyou Nedelev Shishkov, an enthusiast and a devoted researcher of Rhodopes, now is named after its founder. There are over objects at display in several exhibitions. From Tourist Center: 6 km Bulgarian National Astronomical Observatory Rozhen The Bulgarian National Astronomical Observatory is the largest in Bulgaria and on the Balkans. The Observatory officially opened on 13 March 1981 and is an office of the Institute of Astronomy of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS). 33 RELIGION Dormition of the Mother of God in Pamporovo The Dormition of the Mother of God Uspenie Bogorodichno church in Pamporovo resort is built completely from donations, with six church bells donated from Russia. Contemporary design, combined with Orthodox traditions make the church a beautiful place to see and a temple to visit. From Tourist Center: 700 m Church of Saint Vissarion of Smolyan The Eastern Orthodox church in Smolyan, inaugurated on 2 July 2006 is the second largest church in the country (following Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia). Church s hall has an area of 382 m² and has 11 bells, each with an engraving of saint on it. The crossedarch dome has a modern twist, enhanced by non-traditional and yet wellcomplementing innovative details. From Tourist Center: 17 km The Holy Mother of God Church, Shiroka Laka village I t is believed that, with the restless work and devotion of the determined local Christians, the church was constructed for just 40 days in 1834, during the ages of the Ottoman occupation. The temple was consecrated in 1835 and is dedicated to the Dormition of the Mother of God, when a conjoined school was built as well. The church is an important cultural monument for the area and on the Balkans. From Tourist Center: 14 km

34 RELIGION Bachkovo Monastery The Bachkovo Monastery Dormition of the Holy Mother of God i s the second largest and just as important as the other very popular Bulgarian Monastery St Ivan Rilski in Rila. The monastery occupies the right banks of the Chepelare River, 6 miles away from Asenovgrad and 18.6 miles from Plovdiv also very accessible and thus one of the busiest in visitors. The complex has 2 major yards, formed by churches, dorms, refectory and other monastery buildings. Founded in 1083 by Prince Gregory Pakourianos as a Georgian Orthodox monastery, it is further developed by the construction in 1604 of the Church of Mary, well preserved and open to visitors. From Tourist Center: 55 km 100 National Tourist 47 Sites of Bulgaria Krustova gora (Holy Cross Woods) The Holy cross woods, also known as The Rhodopean Holywood is a sacred place near Krustov vruh (The Cross peak), 4635ft, and is named after it. Known as a holy place because of the Monastery complex build there, Krustova gora is one of the largest and most significant Christian places in Bulgaria, attracting many visitors all year round. Popular saying - that part of the Holy Cross of Christ was buried here - is the reason Christian pilgrims visit the place. From Tourist Center: 52 km
