3 BROKERAGE In issue 49 of Antennae, Edmiston highlighted the Company s sale and purchase results for It is noticeable how yachts priced with realism sold, whereas yachts priced on the values and aspirations of peak market conditions, struggled. Value should never be confused with price and this is something Edmiston has continuously highlighted within clients sales strategies. We all acknowledge that the difference between sales and purchase price aspirations can be considerable and it is our task to narrow these fluctuations to within negotiating distance. Better value creates increased appreciation for the yacht (and indeed for yachting) and this instils confidence. Demonstrating value is the task of the broker and it is here where Edmiston has a proven track record. If selling is about more than just price (to create value), skill, contacts and sheer hard work must be the determining factors. Edmiston, the most recognised brand in yacht marketing, gives clients an edge that makes a deal a possibility. Put simply you have to be in, to win. Is this all mere rhetoric? The results of the last six months prove otherwise. In the last year Edmiston has brokered the two largest sales (Lauren L and Alysia), the two largest Feadships (Utopia and Trident) and over 130 million worth of yachts in the last six months alone. 4 BROKERAGE BIG MAK Quick, curvaceous, contemporary, distinctive, daring, dramatic. Big Mak is a 1998, aluminium 47 metre Heesen with everything anyone could want in a mid-size yacht. The sun deck is simple: a sunbathing haven with a full-beam semicircular sunbed and oversize wicker armchairs. Swim? Not just because of her performance but also her quality. Her sleek, stabilized, aluminium hull and superstructure is honed to harness twin MTU engines to 29 knots. 44 metres, 29 knots, 8.3 metre beam, 18 metre sun deck a superbly strong set of statistics. Theextendedsundeckcreatesahugeswatheofteakdeckthatcanbeshaded by a transparent automatic awning. Apart from a helm station, there is a quadruple sunbed, sofas and dining table for 12 guests. Shaded by the sun deck roof is another large outdoor lounging area on the main deck. A straight staircase leads directly to the full-width swimming platform. Apache II has some of the most interesting space under 50 metres. Apache s minimalist style interior is impressive and innovative. With oak floorboards throughout, the main saloon and dining area has two large balconies that unfold over the sea. Sideboard cabinets conceal a 42 inch Bose home cinema system. 12 guests sleep in a full-beam main deck master and two VIP doubles and two twin cabins with Pullmans on the lower deck. The king-size master suite has double bathrooms, a surround sound entertainment system and photosensitive skylights. The high specification guest suites include mirror television screens. Apache II is counter to the theory that less is more. On this yacht, more is more fun. 6

Edmiston has the most exciting 50 metre Perini Navi ketch for sale at arguably the perfect time in her build schedule. A new owner can influence the outcome but fast action is required. 8

12 NEW CONSTRUCTION BROKERAGE MAIN SALOON MASTER ENSUITE BATHROOM ith design and performance-tuning by Ron Holland, the new Perinis have much enhanced sailing characteristics. Over 1,400 sq metres of carbon spectra North Sails are controlled by both helm station and hand held consoles. Perini s brilliance in reducing the complexity and increasing the pleasure of sailing continues to develop the performance/comfort balance is at an all time high. An extended waterline maximises the potential hull speed and a swinging keel, semi compensated rudder and genoa jib noticeably enhance sailing performance. The keel also rises from 9.7 to just 4 metres allowing shallow cruising and anchoring for a sailing yacht of this size. The interior provides spectacular amounts of space over 22 metres from main saloon through the inspiring cockpit and out onto the aft deck. The cockpit is both a dining area and outdoor cinema with custom chairs that retract under the dining table. All very ingenious. Chic minimalist design uses a colour scheme of greys, silver and black or bronze, brown, and stone on panels of wood, leather and onyx. The finest fabrics have been selected, including Loro Piana cashmere for panels and even the master suite carpet. Up to 10 guests sleep in five lower deck staterooms. The full-beam master has a full-beam ensuite that includes a double bath and walk-in shower. In a first for Perini, the cabin configurations are totally flexible. The four guest staterooms have removable 10

13 panels that allow the creation of a second full-beam VIP and two other double (or even twin) cabins, or four equal cabins, or a lower deck saloon with three cabins, or an additional study plus cabins or any other idea that suits the owner s plans. On the practical side, the yacht carries two tenders one in a teak topped foredeck locker and the other in the large garage. The transom opens onto the sea and descends 20 centimetres allowing guests to swim up and walk onto the yacht. More details are available through James Wallace in our New York office. The prestige and pleasure of owning a Perini Navi ketch is immense but here is the chance to purchase at a point where some personalisation is possible and the new owner has less than a year to wait for delivery. 25 EVENTFUL SUMMER CHARTER EVENTS Sports, entertainment, business, Edmiston has yachts suitable for making the most of every event. At the Cannes Film Festival, Moonlight II and Reborn have dedicated cinemas and Idol has HD and 3D screens. All three yachts have huge entertaining areas either for a very private party or a full-scale reception on deck. The Monaco Grand Prix fleet includes the above mentioned yachts as well as Lady Christina (large Oceanco with split level sun deck vantage points), Odessa (great deck space for viewing the race and a large saloon for the after party), Ligaya (good value and a huge willingness to please), or Anita (large sports yacht with amazing entertainment systems). There are a number of classic sailing yacht regattas where guests can either take the helm during the race, relax on a yacht that competes or just be part of the scene as a spectator. All of the regattas are enormous fun with a huge sense of camaraderie and after-race parties that involve food, alcohol and considerable good humour. The largest meeting is probably Les Voiles de St Tropez which is seen as the end of the summer season in the Mediterranean.
