As Rector of America s Seminary in Rome, it is my pleasure to invite you to join me on an extraordinary pilgrimage. Living in Rome as I do and having experienced many of the holy sites around the Europe, I know firsthand how spiritually meaningful it can be to visit the antiquity of our Faith: ancient churches, sacred shrines, and even marketplaces where the saints have walked. Today, over 250 seminarians from all across the United States are studying at the Pontifical North American College and experiencing these same treasures of our Faith. This trip will begin here in the Eternal City, as we welcome you to the Diaconate Ordination of our 4th year students. The rite takes place in St. Peter s Basilica at the Altar of the Chair, and you will also join us for a grand celebration afterwards at the College. You ll meet seminarians (likely from your own diocese) and witness firsthand the future of the American priesthood. The rest of our journey together will explore sacred and ancient sites described herein. I will offer daily Mass aboard the ship and/or in special churches along the way. Several catechetical conferences will be offered with plenty of time to enjoy the sites, meet new friends, and receive the fruits of our pilgrimage journey together. 2 ITINERARY * Thursday, September 27 n Rome Attend the Diaconate Ordination in St. Peter s Basilica in the morning, followed by a reception and VIP lunch at the seminary. Evening on your own. Overnight accommodations in Rome are not included in this package. Arrangements must be made either independently or at the time of booking. Friday, September 28 n Rome to Venice, Italy This afternoon, meet your fellow travelers & Group Tour Escort at Rome-Termini Station to board the High-Speed Train, in reserved 1st class seating, for a scenic ride to Venice. Upon arriving at the Venice-Santa Lucia Railway station, board a private boat for a group transfer to the famed Hotel Danieli. Saturday, September 29 n Venice, Italy Enjoy a leisurely morning with time to explore the piazzas, magnificent architecture, and grand canals. Attend a private Mass celebrated by Fr. Peter Harman. Sunday, September 30 n Šibenik, Croatia After private morning Mass, take time to visit the area of Dalmatia. Opt for a day trip to the picturesque travertine cascades and pools of the Krka River in the Krka National Park. Visit the historic city with its preserved fortresses and impressive Cathedral. The Cathedral of St. James is on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list and recognized for the Medieval and Renaissance architecture. Return to the ship for dinner and an evening reflection. Monday, October 1 n Kotor, Montenegro After private morning Mass, explore the maze-like streets of Kotor and discover impeccable Montenegrin hospitality in the many shops, bars and restaurants. Scenic cruising around the Bay of Kotor later this afternoon. Visit the Cathedral of St. Tryphon in the medieval city, before returning to the ship for dinner and evening reflection. Tuesday, October 2 n Corfu, Greece After private morning Mass, tour the island of Corfu, with its rich history and natural beauty. Visit the ancient ruins of Greek temples and the 19th century Achilleion Palace, boasting of Platonic romanticism. Learn about the patron saint of Corfu, St. Spyridon, venerate his relics, said to be housed in the Greek Orthodox Church and visit the Catholic Church Lontziadas in the Main Square. Then, sip on sweet kumquat liqueur in Old Town or people watch over a cup of coffee in one of the charming neighborhoods. Return to the ship for dinner and an evening reflection. Wednesday, October 3 n Nydri, Lefkada, Greece Celebrate morning, private Mass. Once ashore, enjoy the scenic beaches and scents of fresh olives from the vast groves that blanket the landscape. Further afield, venture to the famous Nydri Waterfalls. Return to the ship for dinner and an evening reflection. Thursday, October 4 n Sparta, Greece After private morning Mass, venture to Gythion, where sandy beaches and interesting vistas surround this lovely town. A short drive from Gythion are interesting sites, including the Caves of Diros, the town of Areopolis and the fishing village of Gerolimenas. Return to the ship for dinner and an evening reflection. Friday, October 5 n Nafplion, Greece Celebrate morning, private Mass. Held to be one of the loveliest small towns in all the islands, Nafplion has a tradition and culture all its own. The sheltered location, below a rocky headland crowned by a Venetian fortress, is perhaps unrivaled in Greece. Visit the Church of the Transfiguration, once used as a convent for Franciscan nuns before the 1500s. Return to the ship for dinner and an evening reflection. Saturday, October 6 n Athens, Greece This morning disembark the cruise ship to either head to the airport for return flights to the USA, or extend your stay in Athens. PAYMENT TERMS: In order to meet deposit schedules with suppliers for this tour, CTS asks for prompt payment on the requested dates. Please see the reservation form for the payment schedule. CTS also accepts Visa, American Express, and MasterCard for payment. Traveler agrees not to dispute any credit card charges associated with this trip. CANCELLATION POLICY: All cancellations must be received in writing. $1,000 cancellation penalty from time of deposit to May 29, For cancellations received after May 29, 2018, there will be no refund. Penalties will be based according to the fax or postmark date. ITINERARY: The Itinerary as presented in this brochure is tentative and represents what we are planning for you, however it is subject to confirmations from many organizations. CHILDREN UNDER 18: For a minor under the age of 18 to travel out of the United States without both parents or legal guardians, a notarized affidavit from the non-travelling parent(s) or guardian(s) must be obtained and presented upon departure and return to the United States. You may request a form from our office. LUGGAGE: Baggage is at owner s risk throughout the tour. AIRFARE: No airfare is included in the cost of this package. To purchase air please inquire within. Checked Baggage: Fees are not included in this tour package price. Most airlines charge fees ranging from free to $75 per bag one way. If traveling with group air, the air carrier for your flight will be announced in your final travel documents and an online link provided to learn the exact charges of your carrier. (Note: The website iflybags.com may be helpful and gives sample fees for all carriers.) Checked baggage is limited to one bag per person. There can be no exceptions. For most airlines, the one checked bag is limited to 50 pounds and 62 inches (length + width + height). If these specifications are exceeded, excess charges may be collected by the airline at the airport. Do not lock baggage you intend to check in at the airport. Please confirm these specifications when you receive your final travel documents, as they can and do change. Carry On Luggage: You may also bring a small carry-on bag that will fit under an airline seat and on the small parcel racks of the motor coach, which average about 8 inches high by 18 inches deep. It is best if your carry-on bag is soft sided, as the parcel racks on the motor coaches are small. Currently, travelers are allowed to transport only small amounts of liquids, gels, lotions, aerosols or similar items on their person or in their carry-on luggage. Details will be in your final travel documents. HEALTH REQUIREMENTS: Travelers must be medically and physically fit for this tour. This tour requires significant walking, as motor coaches are not permitted to pick up and drop off in front of major attractions. The tour is not wheelchair accessible and is not suitable for motorized scooters, walkers, and canes. Any special medical conditions or equipment must be advised in writing, for evaluation of feasibility, at the time of making your reservation. Should any special assistance be required, traveler agrees to bring a companion capable and willing to assist traveler. STATE DEPARTMENT & OTHER AGENCIES: From time to time the State Department ( and the Center for Disease Control ( and other government agencies and departments issue travel advisories or warnings for one or more of the destinations that you may be visiting on tour. CTS cannot change the cancellation terms or conditions based on the issuance of any such warning or advisory or the occurrence of any terror, health or other incident in one or more of the places this tour is scheduled to visit. PHOTOGRAPHY: CTS may take photographs or film of its trips and trip participants, and participant grants CTS express permission to do so and for CTS to use such for promotional or commercial use without payment of any fee or royalties. UNUSED SERVICES: There is no right to a refund for any unused services. CHANGES: Changes in any of the terms and conditions can be made only in writing signed by an officer of CTS. PARTICIPATION: CTS reserves the right to decline to accept or retain any participant on any of its tours if, in its sole discretion, it deems accepting or retaining any such participant as being detrimewntal to the tour. In the event any participant is removed from a trip, CTS s only obligation is to refund to that person that portion of the payment allocable to unused services. BINDING ARBITRATION: I agree that any dispute concerning, relating or referring to this Agreement, the brochure or any other literature concerning my trip, or the trip itself, shall be resolved exclusively by binding arbitration pursuant to the Federal Arbitration Act, 9 U.S.C. 1-16, either according to the then existing Commercial Rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) or pursuant to the Comprehensive Arbitration Rules & Procedures of the Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services, Inc. (JAMS). Such proceedings will be governed by substantive (but not procedural) Michigan law and will take place in Detroit, MI. The arbitrator and not any federal, state, or local court or agency shall have exclusive authority to resolve any dispute relating to the interpretation, applicability, enforceability, conscionability, or formation of this contract, including but not limited to any claim that all or any part of this contract is void or voidable.
