3 ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT PA 8296 Setup Instructions for ALL Jobs The equipment, materials, and supplies below are needed to complete this assessment. Participants need a workstation including the following: Word Processing program Spreadsheet program Presentation program CD burning capability and/or flash drive accessibility Access to working printers with plenty of paper Equipment and Supplies Pens (optional) Pencils Paper clips and/or stapler for keeping printed materials together Calculator or 10-key business calculator Scrap paper 2-column general journal paper or 5-column journal paper with special columns Blank CDs or flash drives, one for each participant (NOTE: if CDs are used, ensure computers have CD burning capability) Permanent felt tip marker or pen JOB 1: IDENTIFICATION OF ACCOUNT BALANCES (5 minutes) JOB 2: JOURNAL ENTRIES (30 minutes) JOB 3: SPREADSHEET (1 hour and 15 minutes) JOB 4: BANKING (15 minutes) JOB 5: TABLE CREATION (30 minutes) JOB 6: PRESENTATION (20 minutes) 2
4 AGRICULTURAL MECHANIZATION PA 8350 JOB 1: FLAT BUTT WELD - SMAW (30 minutes) All necessary protective clothing and safety equipment Four (4) pieces of mild steel plate (per participant), 1/4 inch by 2 inch by 3 inch AC-DC, AC, or DC welding machine Welder's helmet Chipping hammer Wire brush Four (4) E6011 electrodes (per participant), 1/8-inch diameter Optional Electrode Amperage Chart JOB 2: OXYACETYLENE CUTTING (30 minutes) All necessary protective clothing and safety equipment One piece of mild steel plate (per participant) 1/4-inch by 5-inch square Provide an oxyacetylene cutting rig with the proper tip for this job Soapstone/metal marker Steel ruler (12 inch) Square Compass Center punch Ball peen hammer Straight edge (Example: angle iron as a cut guide) Oxyacetylene Cutting Tip Chart JOB 3: ENGINE PARTS EVALUATION (30 minutes) All necessary protective clothing and safety equipment Disassembled engine providing access to the piston, piston rings, crankshaft, and cylinder Service manual Workbench Pencils 0- to 1-inch micrometer 1- to 2-inch micrometer 2- to 3-inch micrometer Dial caliper Telescoping gauge, 2-1/8 to 3-9/16 inches Feeler gauge, flat and wire Shop rags JOB 4: WOOD FRAME CONSTRUCTION (45 minutes) All necessary protective clothing and safety equipment Structural lumber, two pieces, each of 2-inch by 4-inch by 8-foot long Sixteen (16) common nails,16d minimum (per participant) Workbench (or table) Hammer Circular saw Tape measure Framing square or speed square Hand saw Pencils 3
5 AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTIONS OPERATIONS PA 8395 JOB 1: IDENTIFY AND CLASSIFY FEEDSTUFFS (30 minutes) Provide the feedstuffs below and place in one-quart resealable bags (as picked up from the feed store): 1. (shelled) corn 2. oats 3. soybeans 4. barley 5. wheat 6. salt 7. (liquid) molasses 8. beet pulp 9. alfalfa hay 10. grass hay 10 sticker labels 10 one-quart resealable bags permanent markers pencils Create labels 1 through 10 as shown above and place them on the corresponding resealable bags (e.g., place label number 10 on the grass hay sample). Place bags on the table for students to identify and classify. JOB 2: ADMINISTER AN INJECTION (30 minutes) Medicine bottle filled with injectable saline (or other non hazardous liquid) 3 syringes (3cc, 6cc, 12cc) 3 needles of three different sizes (needles must have the gauge and length located on the cap): 18 gauge 1-inch (pea green cover) 20 gauge 1-1/2 inch (pink cover) 1/2-inch long needle of any gauge Sharps container Alcohol swabs Injection subject (See Note below) Pencil Scrap paper Non-programmable calculator Note: The use of live animals as injection subjects is NOT encouraged! We recommend using a stuffed animal (cow or steer), but an orange or other appropriate subject may be used. 4
6 AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTIONS OPERATIONS PA 8395 (continued) JOB 3: VEHICLE MAINTENANCE (30 minutes) Vehicle with water-cooled engine (your choice) with Make and Model Number visible Prior to test: Deflate the same amount of air from the all of the tires on the vehicle Adjust engine oil so it will read low Establish coolant level for a cool engine reading Insert information in the Evaluator Answer Key below NOTE: If there are 10 or more participants, participants can measure any one of the four tires. Tire pressure gauge Waste rags or cloths Pencils Page from vehicle manual for tire pressure if tire inflation is not indicated on tire. Evaluator Answer Key VEHICLE MAINTENANCE WORKSHEET Vehicle Make: Model: Is oil needed? yes no Fuel Gauge Reading: Recommended Tire Inflation: psi Tire Inflation: psi Is engine coolant needed? yes no JOB 4: TAKE A SOIL SAMPLE AND COMPLETE FORM (35 minutes) Two buckets, one plastic and one metal Hand trowel, auger, collection tool or similar tool Outdoor area for soil sampling (at least 12 by 12 feet) at least 6 inches deep o NOTE: If weather prohibits sampling outdoors, an indoor soil sampling area can be set up prior to the start of performance assessment. Students need to acquire three soil samples. Prepare three 5-gallon plastic buckets with soil for sampling. Newspaper for drying soil Trash can for debris "Homemade" soil test kit -- one per participant o manila envelope for mailer o quart size zipper bag for soil sample o Soil Sample form to complete provided in Participant Booklet -OR- Pennsylvania State University soil sample kits can be used, with form removed (replaced with form in Participant Booklet) - one per participant 5

Place bags on the table for participant to identify. JOB 2: ADMINISTER AN INJECTION (30 minutes) Medicine bottle filled with injectable saline (or other liquid) 3 syringes (3cc, 6cc, 12cc) 3 needles of 3 different sizes: o 12 gauge 2 inch o 16 gauge 1/2 to 3/4 inch o 20 gauge 1-1/2 inch Sharps container Injection ''subject'' (See NOTE below - could be an orange, grapefruit, or banana) Pencil Scrap paper Non-programmable calculator NOTE: The use of live animals as injection subjects is NOT encouraged! We recommend using an orange, grapefruit, or banana, or other appropriate ''subject.'' 6
8 GENERAL AGRICULTURE PA 8300 (continued) JOB 3: IDENTIFY FLOWER PARTS (30 minutes) Alstroemeria (lily) - one per participant Plastic knife - one per participant Page in participant s Performance Booklet with the labels of flower parts JOB 4: TAKE A SOIL SAMPLE AND COMPLETE FORM (35 minutes) Two buckets, one plastic and one metal Hand trowel, auger, collection tool or similar tool Outdoor area for soil sampling (at least 12 by 12 feet) at least 6 inches deep o NOTE: If weather prohibits sampling outdoors, an indoor soil sampling area can be set up prior to the start of performance assessment. Lay the materials out on a table or workbench for participant selection. 1. Safety glasses (Z-87) 2. Flip flops 3. Ball cap 4. Tyvek suit 5. Hair net 6. Cowboy boots (or other non-work boot) 7. Nitrile gloves (or latex) 8. Sun glasses 9. Hard hat 10. Coveralls - complete suit 11. Cotton work gloves 12. Rubber boots 13. Hearing protection (OSHA approved) 14. Lined rubber gloves 15. Earbuds/Headphones (not OSHA approved) 16. White lab coat 17. Arm length plastic sleeves 18. Steel toed boots 19. Shorts 20. Unlined chemical resistant rubber gloves 7
9 SALES, DISTRIBUTION, AND MARKETING OPERATIONS PA 8156 JOB 1: COMPLETING A CASH TRANSACTION (20 minutes) SETUP INSTRUCTIONS The performance evaluator will serve as the customer for this job. Provide the equipment, materials, and supplies listed for this job on the day of testing so the evaluator can create the mock checkout counter. Multiple workstations can be created as long as there is one evaluator per station and participants are not able to observe each other as they complete the job. Provide the following: A taxable item to be purchased, clearly marked with $10.98 price tag $20 bill for customer to pay for the item (real or fake currency may be used) Cash drawer with $25.00 in coins and small bills to make change Electronic calculator Pen or pencil Shopping bag Table to serve as a mock checkout counter JOB 2: HANDLING CUSTOMER RETURNS (20 minutes) SETUP INSTRUCTIONS The performance evaluator will serve as the customer for this job. Provide the equipment, materials, and supplies listed for this job on the day of testing so the evaluator can create the workstation. Multiple workstations can be created as long as there is one evaluator per station and participants are not able to observe each other as they complete the job. Use any available item that might be given for a gift (minimum value $5.00) or those listed for use in previous jobs. Provide the following: Item of merchandise to be returned (minimum $5.00 value), with price tag attached. 8
10 SALES, DISTRIBUTION, AND MARKETING OPERATIONS PA 8156 (continued) JOB 3: PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE AND SELLING (25 minutes) SETUP INSTRUCTIONS The performance evaluator will serve as the customer for this job. Provide the tools, materials, and equipment listed for this job on the day of testing so the evaluator can create the mock checkout counter. Multiple workstations can be created as long as there is one evaluator per station and participants are not able to observe each other as they complete the job. 1. Set up the mock sales counter. 2. Determine one product and two complementary products for the participant to sell. Depending on the number of participants to be tested, a duplicate set of the product and complementary items may be provided for participants to study prior to beginning their sales presentation. This may streamline the evaluation process. Possible items: Digital camera with product tags or manufacturer box and two complementary items such as a flash drive, carry case, memory card, etc. Item of clothing such as denim slacks with tags along with two complementary items such as a belt, shoes, shirt, etc. Hair dryer with product tags or manufacturer box along with two complementary items such as a brush, hair clip, curling iron, etc. Note: Select items that provide enough information for the participant to make a successful sales presentation. 3. Determine the area of the testing room that will be appropriate for a sales presentation, ensuring that participants waiting to be evaluated cannot view each other s presentations. 4. If a duplicate set of the products and complementary items are provided, designate a location where participants can view them prior to beginning the job. Provide the following: Scrap paper Pen or pencil Products and complementary items for use during the sales presentation Mock sales counter 9
11 SALES, DISTRIBUTION, AND MARKETING OPERATIONS PA 8156 (continued) JOB 4: JOB APPLICATION AND PRE-EMPLOYMENT TEST (1 hour) SETUP INSTRUCTIONS Provide the equipment, materials, and supplies listed for this job on the day of testing so the evaluator can create the workstation. Multiple workstations can be created as long as participants are not able to observe each other s job application or pre-employment materials. Provide the following: Black or blue pen Calculator Pencil Blank job application (provided in the participant s booklet) Blank pre-employment test (provided in the participant s booklet) Scratch paper Desk and chair 10
