2 Dispensing of liquid media made easy DURAN laboratory glassware ensures that work in the laboratory is carried out safely, precisely and smoothly. A system concept is of prime importance where the further development of products is concerned. This is true of the new, high-quality, DURAN Group dispensers, which now make the dispensing of liquids directly from DURAN laboratory glass bottles even easier and safer. They provide high accuracy, conform to DIN EN ISO 8655 and ensure optimum reproducibility. Precise dosing in the twinkling of an eye The DURAN Group dispenser can be screwed directly onto the bottle thread. The required volume is set on the dispenser and then dosed by depressing the precisely engineered plunger. The smoothly moving cylinder can be operated with one hand making serial dosing convenient. Thanks to their simple and precise volume adjustment, DURAN Group dispensers can be used in a wide variety of applications, with the metered quantity being quickly matched to the application in question.

3 Reliably leak-tight permanently resistant The thread of the DURAN Group dispenser is matched to the GL 45 thread of the DURAN laboratory glass bottle. This ensures optimum sealing and reduces any loss of media. Additionally, safe storage of the contents and protection against escaping vapour is ensured. The discharging tube can also be tightly closed with a cap. As the threads of the DURAN laboratory glass bottles and the DURAN Group dispensers are compatible with each other, we recommend their use as a complete system. By using the supplied adapters (GL 28, GL 32, GL 38, S 40) these dispensers can also be used for other thread sizes. Alongside borosilicate 3.3 glass, only high quality plastics such as PTFE, ETFE, PFA, FEP and a platinum-iridium alloy come into contact with the media. Hence the DURAN Group dispensers are resistant against most acids, bases and solvents, nearly wear-free and therefore have a very wide range of application. A PFA sealing lip adjacent to the cylinder wall prevents crystal formation when used with media which crystallise easily so that sticking of the piston is prevented.

It is, therefore, particularly suitable for use with lightsensitive media and for the long-term storage of substances. With its external plastic coating, it offers effective protection in daily laboratory work. 17 THE SPACE SAVER: DURAN GL 45 SQUARE BOTTLE The DURAN square bottle sits, thanks to its square shape, particularly well and securely in the hand. Moreover, it saves space and is more economical whether in autoclaves, in drying cabinets, in ovens, in storage or in washers. For example, seventy two 100 ml square bottles can be placed on a given surface rather than fifty 100 ml standard bottles and processed for the same costs. 22 14 THE COMPLETE: DURAN GL 45 HPLC LABORATORY GLASS BOTTLE The DURAN HPLC laboratory glass bottle represents a finished system: it comprises the pressure-resistant DURAN pressure plus laboratory glass bottle and a screw cap with four ports. This permits simultaneous feeding of three stations from one container. At the same time, a membrane filter can be optionally applied to the fourth outlet to permit sterile pressure equalization. It can be used with tube diameters of 1.6 mm (1/16 inch) and 3.2 mm (1/8 inch). Unused ports can be closed with a silicone seal. Its high temperature resistance makes it the perfect partner to the DURAN Premium bottle. The DURAN laboratory glass bottle and Premium cap form a system that is precisely tailored to sterilisation processes such as hot-air or dry sterilisation as well as depyrogenation. 27 SIMULTANEOUSLY POROUS AND SEALING: MEMBRANE CAP FOR DURAN LABORATORY GLASS BOTTLES 19 The membrane screw cap enables pressure equalization through a PTFE membrane, while the bottle remains tightly closed. This makes the cap ideal for autoclaving processes, because the contamination risk is dramatically lowered. Liquids, solids, and dirt particles cannot enter: the bottle contents remain sterile, even during storage. The membrane cap is also suitable for storing gas generating media. 28 20 SECURITY AT A GLANCE: TAMPER-EVIDENT CAP FOR DURAN LABORATORY GLASS BOTTLES The tamper-evident cap ensures the bottle content is securely stored, particularly when transporting valuable or critical media. When first closed, the plastic ring sits firmly over the bottle throat. If the cap is opened, the perforation tears and the plastic ring is retained around the throat. It is immediately and visibly apparent if the contents have retained their integrity. 30 22 DISTINGUISHABLE: COLOUR SCREW CAPS FOR DURAN LABORATORY GLASS BOTTLES The standard PP screw cap is available in blue, green, yellow and grey with matching pouring rings. In addition to clear labelling of laboratory glass bottles, the colour caps contribute to unambiguous marking. Different media can be distinguished at a glance and hence easily kept separate, even when the bottles are open. The clear marking helps prevent interchanging of caps and with it the carry over of substances. 33 25 How it works: flexible working with system The basis of the connection system for DURAN laboratory bottles are screw caps with GL 45 threads and two or three outlets or ports. Liquid media can be added to or removed from bottles using the tube connections. Using a universal GL 14 tube adapter and different inserts, four different tube diameters can be used. An additional membrane filter with 0.2 μm pore size permits sterile pressure equalization via one of the outlets. This flexible, modular system provides the option of combining various components according to need and application. The components are compatible with each other and are used in conjunction with original DURAN GL 45 laboratory glass bottles. To increase safety in the laboratory, use of the pressure-resistant DURAN pressure plus laboratory glass bottle is to be recommended. Due to its modified geometry, a pressure-resistance of -1 bar to +1.5 bar is assured, as confirmed by TÜV. THE FLEXIBLE MULTI-PORT SYSTEM FOR DURAN GLS 80 WIDE NECK GLASS BOTTLES The multi-port system consists of a GLS 80 screw cap with four ports. The tubes are fed through these ports and secured with inserts and screw connections. There is a choice of 5 inserts, each with different internal diameter depending on the application. Unused ports can be fitted with a blanking cap, if necessary.
