The heat transferred through the test specimen is measured and used to calculate a tolerance time to 2nd degree burn. The levels of exposure are extreme in the TPP test scenario and are not representative of most real world scenarios. The test is intended to show relative protective values of the X Series suits in relation to each other. Sizing: X10, X20, X30, and X40 suits come standard in Small, Medium, Large, and X-Large sizes. 2XL and custom sizes are available for an upcharge. Optional features like an aramid palm, leather palm or double palm can be used to enhance heat, abrasion, or cut resistance. ZetexPlus 200 Series Additional heat and abrasion resistance ZetexPlus gloves and mitts feature a proprietary coating that dissipates heat across the surface of the fabric, to support continuous operating temperatures up to 1500 F / 815 C and intermittent temperatures up to 2000 F / 1095 C. The ZetexPlus coating also improves abrasion resistance. The 200 Series is available with an aramid palm, double palm, or as a specialized investment caster mitt with additional insulation. Z-Flex Aluminized 300 Series Radiant heat and molten metal splash protection Z-Flex Aluminization protects from extreme temperatures, molten metal splash, and sparks while reflecting up to 95% of radiant heat. These gloves and mitts can be purchased with a Zetex or ZetexPlus palm and thumb for better resistance to direct contact with hot objects or with a leather palm for superior grip and dexterity. Core Spun Aramid 400 Series Abrasion and puncture resistance Blended to combine the abrasion and cut resistance of aramid with the exceptional heat resistance of Zetex. Core spun aramid withstands temperatures up to 750 F / 400 C. These gloves and mitts are also available with a ZetexPlus coating for even more heat protection and abrasion resistance.

4 INNOVATION. PERFORMANCE. PROTECTION. Hand Protection Accessories In addition to our standard line of gloves and mitts, we also manufacture high temperature overmitts and finger cots. Overmitts are worn on top of another pair of high temperature mitts to provide extra protection and to extend the life of the more expensive mitts worn underneath. Zetex finger cots provide protection to just the fingers. They are commonly used in laboratories and other environments in which the wearer must handle small or delicate hot objects, like test tubes. Size & Length Most gloves and mitts are available in 11, 14, or 23 lengths (28, 36, or 58 cm). The 14 length provides coverage just past the wrist, while the 23 length protects to the elbow. Select styles are also available in an 18 length (46 cm). All hand protection comes in a One Size Fits All style. It is designed to fit loosely so that the user can remove it quickly and easily. Custom lengths and constructions are available upon request with minimum order quantity requirements. We recommend gloves for applications that require dexterity, and we recommend mitts for applications in which additional heat protection, added comfort, and longer wear are important. Mitts are reversible, as either mitt can be worn on the left or right hand. If the palm of a mitt gets damaged, the wearer can flip the mitt and wear it on the opposite hand to extend the life of the product. Our performance materials have excellent fabrication and handling properties, support temperatures up to 2300 F (1260 C), and minimize heat transfer while resisting moisture, chemicals, stress, and abrasion. The fabric is treated with a proprietary inorganic coating that improves abrasion resistance and remains with the fabric even at high temperatures. Lighter weight fabrics (below 30 osy/1,000 gsm) are thinner and more conformable, providing a sensible choice for basic insulation needs, lagging, removable insulation systems, and stress relieving. Heavier weight (greater than 30 osy/1,000 gsm) provide superior insulation and durability, making them well suited for heavy insulation systems, fire curtains, heat shields, welding products, and fabric expansion joints. Roll Specifications Newtex Performance Materials are sold in full rolls only. A standard roll is 50 yards (45.72 m) in length and 40 or 60 wide (102 or 152 cm). 7 PERFORMANCE MATERIALS Z-FLEX MULTILAYER ALUMINIZED FABRICS The Z-Flex Multilayer Aluminization (MLA) process uses the latest aerospace thin film deposition technology to apply fine, highly reflective aluminum particles to both sides of a high temperature polymer film barrier. The resulting Z-Flex film is then chemically and mechanically bonded to a premium substrate fabric using a proprietary adhesive that is activated with both heat and pressure. The result is a finished fabric with superior bonding which will not delaminate under the most demanding flexing conditions. Z-Flex fabrics provide the highest achievable level of radiant reflectivity, chemical and moisture resistance, and thermal protection. 11 PERFORMANCE MATERIALS Z-BLOCK FIRE & SMOKE Z-Block fabrics are high temperature polymer coated materials treated with a proprietary formulation of fire retardants. Z-Block offers exceptional resistance to fire, smoke, and weather conditions and can withstand temperatures up to 1800 F (980 C). The Z-Block coating is available on a range of base fabrics, including texturized fiberglass, filament fiberglass, and wire reinforced fiberglass. Both the coating and base fabrics are formulated with inorganic materials and will not produce hazardous outgassing. Z-Shield Salmon Flexible protective fabric, good for draping Z-Shield Salmon has superior flexibility and can be easily draped over equipment or hung from a support to prevent sparks from starting a fire near a hot works operation. It is also commonly used for light welding and grinding. The acrylic coating is abrasion resistant for good reusability, and the filament fiber base fabric is flexible enough to roll up, carry, and store. Z-Shield Salmon withstands temperatures up to 1000 F (540 C). Z-Shield Gold & Z-Shield Black Essential protection without the airborne fibers Z-Shield Gold and Z-Shield Black both feature a texturized fiberglass base and acrylic coating. These fabrics are heavier and sturdier than Z-Shield Salmon. The acrylic coating is abrasion resistant and helps reduce airborne fibers. Select from a variety of coatings and laminates to boost resistance to vapor, weathering, oil, water, chemicals, abrasion, flexural fatigue or UV radiation. Select from fabric treatments to improve handling, reduce airborne fibers, or simplify fabrication. We can also combine coatings or develop custom solutions for larger orders. Our ZetexPlus formulation features larger platelets and more coverage than competitive vermiculite coatings, allowing for better dissipation of heat. The formula s organic adhesion promoter ensures a strong bond between the fabric and coating so that the coating provides more protection over a longer product life. Z-Shield Acrylics Protection from Sparks and Slag Z-Shield acrylic coatings are ideal for fabrics used in welding and hot works applications. Z-Shield coatings are available in a variety of colors including Z-Shield Silver for radiant heat reflectivity, Z-Shield Black and Z-Shield Gold for a heavier and sturdier texture, Z-Shield Salmon for a more flexible drape, or the Z-Shield HB Hullboard Facing formulation for thermal insulation and fireproofing applications aboard ships. Z-Shield is water-based and will not produce hazardous outgassing. Z-Tuff Silicone & PTFE Increased Resistance to Weather, Chemicals, and Oil Z-Tuff Silicone and Z-Tuff PTFE are non-stick coatings used for improved resistance to abrasion, weather, water, oil, chemicals, and UV rays. Silicone is superior for applications that require water resistance while PTFE is the better choice when UV resistance is important. Silicone withstands temperatures up to 500 F (260 C), and PTFE withstands temperatures up to 600 F (315 C). At these temperatures the coating will begin to degrade. Color Dyes For Aesthetic or Identification Purposes Color-treated fabrics are used in a variety of industries for aesthetic or identification purposes. Color treatment does not significantly change the heat rating or physical properties of a fabric. Black, yellow, red, blue, green, and orange color treatments are available. Rewettable For Barriers and Encapsulation The rewettable coating is an inorganic clay-based coating that can be wetted at the application site and then dries hard to form a barrier. The coating can withstand temperatures up to 1000 F (540 C). It is commonly used in encapsulation, barriers, and asbestos abatement applications. Fabric Treatments Heat Cleaned (HC) fabrics are treated at high temperatures to remove binders, lubricants, and broken filaments from the fabric to reduce smoke generation, airborne fibers, and unraveling. Fabrication Treatment (FAB) is an acrylic coating applied to one side of the fabric. It improves weave stability and abrasion resistance and helps prevent fraying. FAB treatment is ideal for fabrics that will be die cut. Regular Treatment (RT) is a light acrylic coating applied to both sides of the fabric. It improves weave set and reduces the skin irritation sometimes associated with fiberglass fabrics. Oil & Water Repellent (OWR) is a lightweight protective coating used to prevent wicking and improve resistance to oil, water, and abrasion. Zetex tapes can be treated with our ZetexPlus vermiculite coating to increase temperature and abrasion resistance. ZetexPlus supports operating temperatures up to 1500 F (815 C) and intermittent temperatures up to 2000 F (1095 C). Zetex and ZetexPlus tapes are available in Premium and Commercial Grade weaves and are ideal for high temperature, low pressure gasketing and sealing applications. Zetex & ZetexPlus Tubing & Specialty Tapes Bolt hole tapes are woven without warp yarns in the center to support bolt insertion in applications like flange gasketing. Wire reinforced tapes are strong and stable at high temperatures. Zetex tubing can be used to insulate and protect hydraulic and electrical lines, cable or wiring. Tubing is also available with a ZetexPlus vermiculite coating for additional temperature resistance. Z-Flex Multilayer Aluminzed & Aluminum Foil Tapes Z-Flex Multilayer Aluminized (MLA) tapes are designed for insulation and lagging applications that require heat reflectivity. They are woven from highly texturized DE glass and aluminized with Z-Flex Multilayer Aluminization technology, a process that enables superior durability, flex-bond, and 95% radiant heat reflectivity with no organic flame contribution. Z-Flex Aluminum Foil (AF) tapes are an economical alternative to Z-Flex MLA tapes. Foil is not as durable or flexible as Z-Flex MLA, but it offers comparable radiant heat protection at a significantly lower cost. Though foil tape is suitable for most applications, Z-Flex Multilayer Aluminized tape may be necessary for applications where tape will be subject to stretching, twisting, vibration, or other movement. Premium Grade Commercial Grade Coatings & Finishes Made from 6 or 9 micron filaments, finer yarns, and a tighter weave to enhance strength, flexibility, abrasion resistance, and insulation while reducing bolt pull-through. Our ropes are conformable and durable, resistant to most acids and alkalis, and will not shrink, stretch, or unravel. All Newtex ropes are asbestos-free and manufactured in the United States at our Victor, New York facility. It is used in packing applications that require greater resistance to compression and mechanical wear. Square braided rope is similar in construction but is made to support square channels and grooves. Square braided rope is not a standard Newtex product, but it is available in large quantities by special order.
