3 Is there a difference between different sponges? Gram Weight sponges have different gram weights which effect absorbency, feel and overall look. Folds Sponges have an esthetic appeal as any other product. When the folds are crisp and even the product has a high quality appearance. Sponges vs. Gauze pads simple, sponges are 2 or more per package and Gauze pads are 1 per package. Non-Woven vs. Woven Non-wovens are made of a synthetic material and have a soft feel. They are easy to differentiate as the material has a very different appearance that the description illustrates. Non-wovens are used more often for covering, absorbing and staying in place for longer periods of time. Wovens are used more often for debriding and short term absorbency. Ply If you unfold the sponges you will see multiple squares, counting each one will give you the ply. Sometimes there are half squares on each side, put together they will give you one ply.

4 Gauze and Non-Woven Dressings Standard Gauze is much stronger than non-woven gauze, is good for debriding (cleaning) a wound. Non-Woven Gauze has a softer feel than standard woven gauze, and has less linting which helps to eliminate granulomas (reducing the chance of infection). Our premium sponges are the heaviest non-woven sponges on the market. Super Sponges are a washed 100% cotton, making them softer and fluffier than the standard gauze. They are typically used for heavily exuding wounds until the wound is controlled. IV and T-Drain Sponges feature a unique fenestration that allows the product to surround the inserted tube more closely, allowing moisture to wick from the site more effectively. 5 Specialty Dressings ABD Pads are highly absorbent dressings that provide padding and protection for large wounds. Pressure Dots are a unique addition to the Dukal product line, ideal for dialysis and blood banks in place of folded 4x4 sponges. Our Eye Pad has a non-woven outer facing and 100% cotton interior for superior absorbency and a softer touch for the patient. It also features an easy placement tab. Top Sponge has both Rayon and Cellulose interior layers for extra absorbency most products only have one or the other. A nonwoven outer provides a soft cushion for delicate skin. Competitive information: Non-Adherent Pads is comparable to the Kendall Telfa and J&J Release. Top Sponge is an exact match to the J&J Topper that went off of the market.

6 Bandages *It is important to note that the Cohesive Bandages and some of the Elastic Bandages do contain Latex.* Cohesive Bandages are self adherent and engineered to be torn by hand. Fluff Bandage Roll is a washed rolled gauze for a softer and more absorbent bandage. Rolled Gauze will wrap the wound and then cling to itself to securely hold dressings. Conforming Stretch is available in Sterile, Non-Sterile, and Non-Sterile Polybagged or Clean wrapped. Premium Elastic Bandages are made of a honeycomb material that functions better with the Velcro application, provides a better hook to secure and minimizes pulls on the fabric for repeat use on the same patient. Competitive Information: Cohesive Bandages are comparable to 3M s Coban. Fluff Bandage is similar to Kendall s Kerlix. Rolled Gauze is a replacement to the J&J Kling.

7 Advanced Wound Care Wound Closure Strips have reinforced fibers for supreme durability. Semi-Permeable Dressings are easy to put on and feature a patient label on every dressing to help keep track of dressing change information. Competitive Information: Wound Closure Strips are very comparable to 3M s Steri-Strips. Semi-Permeable Dressings are similar to 3M s Tegaderm.

8 Special Surgical Dressings Lap Sponges and OR towels are wrapped in CSR wrap that can be opened without contaminating the sterile field. They are banded to ensure a correct count at the end of every procedure. We have a full line of products to suit every surgeon s preference. 9 Cotton and Wood Non-Sterile Cotton Tipped Applicators have a sterilization indicator strip that will turn brown if the product is sterilized. 10 Tapes All tapes are hypoallergenic and latex free Paper tape has a lighter adhesive that is ideal for delicate skin, especially for elderly patients. Transparent Tape can be easily and consistently torn in any direction, and will stretch to accommodate movement. Cloth Tape is a durable tape that can be torn by hand in either direction without the use of scissors. Waterproof Tape is offered in spools and shells and can be cleaned with soap and water. Can be torn by hand. Competitive Information: Our tapes are engineered to be competitive with the 3M line.

11 Personal Protection Gowns are available in a range of thickness to provide the appropriate amount of protection for every usage. All gowns feature elastic cuffs so gloves can be easily put on. Disposable Scrub Wear is a great alternative to laundered scrubs. Surgeon s Caps have absorbent properties for ultimate comfort during procedures. Masks: Dukal has a full line of masks to protect both the patient and the wearer as needed. 12 Disposable Linens Disposable Linens are specifically designed to be used with stretchers. There are different grades of material for patient comfort and protection of expensive equipment. Survival Wrap helps maintain body temperature. Emergency Blankets are bright for identification and durable for protection from the elements. Can be used in all weather conditions. 13 Hygiene and Plastics Wet Wipes contain aloe and lanolin and are alcohol free for gentle cleansing without drying the skin. Disposable Vaginal Speculums decrease the risk of contamination and are made of a heavy grade plastic with smooth edges and offer a wide range of adjustability. BZK Towelettes and Pads are a good alternative to alcohol for general cleaning without stinging minor wounds. BZK is non-toxic and nonirritating Sting Relief Pads offer soothing aid for minor irritations like mosquito bites and bee stings. Cools and relieve on contact.
