Officers were dispatched to the Block of Creekside for an Attempt Home Invasion. R/P states she observed the suspect outside of her bedroom window. The suspect cut a hole in her window screen in attempts to gain entry to the residence. Victim stated her daughter observed the suspect outside of the bedroom window as well. A Southfield Police K-9 initiated a track that lead to the front yard of another apartment in the Block of Isleworth. K-9 and Officers observed suspected footprint indentations in the wet grass leading up to this unit. Officers attempted to make contact at this address with no answer at the door. Note: A day prior to this at 11:00pm victim reported the same suspect standing outside of her bedroom window looking in while she was asleep. The suspect wasn t located at this time. Possibly a key was used? Victim stated she left her apartment at approx. 8:12am. Victim returned to her apartment at approx. 9:45am and found the door unlocked. Victim inspected the interior of her apartment and found several cupboards in the kitchen open and a small tool kit missing from under the sink. Victim stated she check to see if maintenance for complex had been inside her unit. They denied entering her apartment. Taken: (1) Black 2015 Dodge Journey. 09/04/2018 1:15pm Telegraph Rd. (Hotel) Manufacturer CHEVROLET Model FLAT BED TOW TRUCK Color BLK - Black Vehicle Year 2006 Body Style State OH Description BLACK CHEVY FLAT BED Notes WHITE HERITAGE LANE SERVICES DECAL/ FRONT GRILL DAMAGE/ FLAT BED Victim states at 11:00am he parked his 2006 Black Chevy Flat Bed Tow Truck with company name on vehicle in the n/e corner of the parking lot at hotel in the Block of Telegraph Rd. Victim observed his vehicle missing the same day at 5:00pm. Victim explained he had work tools in the vehicle when it was taken. Surveillance Video: On 09/04/2018 at 1:15pm, a B/M can be seen walking from Telegraph Rd to the vehicle. Suspect: B/M, 6 feet, 230 lbs., grey hat, grey due rag, purple t-shirt with a gold cross, grey cargo shorts & black shoes. Suspect walks to the vehicle and tugs on the door handle. Vehicle appears to be left unlocked or suspect had a key. Suspect enters the vehicle and starts the engine in a matter of

5 seconds. Suspect leaves in the vehicle and travels N/B on Telegraph Rd. A few seconds later, vehicle can be seen traveling S/B on Telegraph Rd. Further information from victim revealed that he met a female a couple of days ago. He left his vehicle's keys in her vehicle. Victim explained he retrieved his vehicle's keys from female in the early morning of 09/04/2018. Victim stated it is possible she had a duplicate key made for the vehicle and gave it to the suspect. Female suspect has been identified and incident is under investigation. From: 09/03/2018 8:00pm To: 09/04/ :00pm Pierce St Manufacturer CHEVROLET Model SUBURBAN Color BLK - Black Vehicle Year 2009 Body Style State MI License Year 2019 Description SUV Victim states his vehicle was stolen out of his driveway sometime between Sunday September 3, 2018@ 8:00pm & Monday September 4, 2018@ 8:00pm. It is unknown how entry was gained. No suspect information. The Chevy Suburban was recovered by MSP on 09/05/2018 at 3:14pm. The vehicle was involved in a crash at I-96 and Greenfield Rd. The driver fled on foot, no description. MSP Impounded the car. Tips: Never leave your vehicle running unattended Park in areas where your vehicle is viewable if possible Use commercially available security devices

From: 08/31/ :00am To: 09/04/ :00am Dun Scotus Manufacturer Handgun Model 9mm Victim stated that her Handgun was stolen from her 2017 Ford Explorer sometime over the past several days. The vehicle was parked in her driveway and it is unknown how entry was gained. There is no suspect information. (Citizens should never leave their handguns in their vehicles!!!!!!!) From: 09/05/ :30pm To: 09/06/ :00am Charlton Sq. (Residential- Apartments) Manufacturer SPRINGFIELD Model 45mm Victim stated he parked his vehicle on 09/05/2018 at approx. 10:30pm. It was not locked. Victim returned to the vehicle on 09/06/2018 at approx. 11:00am and observed that his gun was stolen. There was no damage to the vehicle. (Citizens should never leave their handguns in their vehicles!!!!!!!)

7 09/04/2018 3:48pm Northwestern (Commercial- Eye Institute) Alarm Monitor was taken. Office Manager for business states on September 4, 2018 the company's former alarm contractor took an alarm monitor which belonged to their current security provider. The company in question was contacted and were asked to return the component. They have failed to comply. Incident is under investigation. 09/05/2018 1:15pm Nottingham Ln. (Residential- Apartments) Color GLD - Gold Description RING WITH DIAMONDS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens that have workers in their homes should be certain to have any cash, jewelry, handguns or any other expensive items secured somewhere so the worker(s) cannot access the area. If there are multiple workers citizens should get help from friends or family to be on sight to watch the workers. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Victim stated that she had two males installing Quality Beds in her home. Victim stated that the younger male was in her bed room installing a bed while the older male was installing a bed in her husband s room. Victim periodically checked on the younger male and gave him refreshments as he worked. She said that when the male stepped out of the room she noticed that her pajama dresser drawer was open. She considered the drawer and saw that a pack of previously unopened cigarettes was now open. Butler also said she then looked inside of another dresser drawer and noticed that her ring was missing from the jewelry box that was in the drawer. The suspect consented to a search of his vehicle and his person for the ring. The ring was not located on his person or in his vehicle.

8 From: 09/05/ :00pm To: 09/06/2018 9:33am Grodan Dr. (Residential- Apartments) T-Shirt Heater/ Processor, T-Shirt Printer, Light Stand for Video Photography, Smoke Making Machine. Victim states his roommate moved out and took several items belonging to him. Victims camera, light stand, T-Shirt printing machine, T-Shirt print drying machine and a smoke machine are missing. Suspect has been identified and incident is under investigation. 09/06/2018 3:15pm Shiawassee Rd. Lawn Mower, Blower & Trimmer were taken from victims shed. Victim states sometime in the past three weeks someone broke into his shed and stole his Lawn Mower, Blower & Trimmer. 09/07/2018 6:35am Inc.# 18/36747 (Auto Theft Also) Edwards Ave. 1- Laptop, 1- Fire Tablet, 1- Brown Duffle Bag, 2- sets of vehicle and house keys and 1- Phone Charger. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Manufacturer BUICK Model LACROSSE Color Vehicle Year 2011 Body Style State MI Description Black Buick Lacrosse >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Victim states sometime between 7:30pm and the following morning at 6:00am someone entered his unlocked vehicle and took the following items. 1 Dell laptop, 1 Amazon Fire Tablet, 1 Brown Duffle Bag, 2 sets of vehicle and house keys and 1 Phone Charger. One of the set of keys was for victim s mothers 2011 Buick Lacrosse which was also taken during this incident.

9 09/07/2018 5:46pm Clarkson St. Cash and Handgun were taken. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Manufacturer Handgun Model 45 Cal. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Victim states sometime between 9:00am- 12:30pm her mother (suspect) who was living with her, vacated the residence. Prior to leaving, her mother took an undisclosed amount of cash and her handgun from her closet. Victim states she contacted her mother and she admitted to taking the cash but not the handgun. Victim s mother told her daughter that a male friend helped her move out. The male friend is unknown. Incident is under investigation. 09/07/2018 3:57pm Telegraph Rd. (Commercial- Discount Store) Color BLK - Black Description Black Men s Wallet Notes Contained ID, Cash, Bank Card, & Business Cards. Victim states she just bought some items from the business in the Block of Telegraph Rd. and walked out to her car. When she got to her car she realized she dropped her wallet. Victim went back to grab it and it was gone. Victim was approached by a subject who stated he witnessed a man pick up her wallet and walk off with it. Witness states he saw a B/M, approx. 5' 8", thin build, light skin, with short hair and glasses walk by the wallet on the ground, bend over and pick it up. The wallet was by the entrance/exit door to the store. The male then left in an unknown direction.

10 From: 09/05/2018 9:00am To: 09/05/2018 9:00pm Franklin Rd. (Residential- Assisted Living) Description Cash Victim states sometime between 9:00am- 9:00pm, an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from her purse. The purse was lying on the floor in her bedroom, near her closet. Victim states nobody except the cleaning lady was in her apartment between those times. Incident is under investigation. 09/08/2018 8:03pm Shiawassee (Riverstone Apartments) I-Pad and Cell Phone were taken from victim s vehicle. Victim, employee for TV/ Internet Service stated he was doing work in the Block of Shiawassee Road (Apartments) when his Company ipad and his Personal Cell Phone were stolen from his vehicle. Victim left the vehicle parked near the Block of Shiawassee in the complex around 5:30pm. He returned around 6:45pm and noticed the items missing. Note: A similar incident involving another TV/ Internet Service Employee happened at the same complex recently. The victim had set his keys down while working and it was suspected that the resident gave the keys to his friend, who then went out to victim s car and stole several TV/ Internet type items.

11 09/09/2018 2:16am Lahser Rd. (Residential- Apartments) 2- TV s were taken. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens that invite persons over to their residences that they just met and only know by their first name should not leave this person in their apartment unattended. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Victim states around 2:00am, an acquaintance of his came over to his apartment to visit. Victim received a call from his nephew and went down stairs to meet him out front, leaving the acquaintance unattended in his apartment. When victim returned from meeting with his nephew, he found the door to his apartment wide open, two of his TV s were missing and so was the acquaintance. Victim states he originally met suspect at the Gas Station at 8 Mile & Lahser Rd. He only knows this person by his first name. Suspect: Last Name Unknown First Name First name is known. (Commercial- Food/ Restaurant) Manufacturer SAMSUNG Model GALAXY S6 Description STOLEN SAMSUNG GALAXY CELL PHON E Victim stated he was at Restaurant in the Block of Telegraph Rd. on 09/08/2018. Sometime between 10:00pm- 11:00pm someone stole victims cell phone. Victim couldn t elaborate on how his phone was stolen? When victim returned home later that night he tracked his phone to a location in the City of Redford. It s unknown if the victim contacted Redford PD. Nothing further at this time. Tips: Ensure your vehicle is locked always and valuables are out of sight. Thieves wait for the right time and will move quickly Even if playing sports at a park ensure your vehicle is locked

15 Special Attention: Larceny from Vehicles How to prevent this from happening to you! -Citizens should never leave anything of value inside their vehicle. (Especially Handguns, Purses, Wallets, Cash & Cell Phones!) - If you have a garage you should park your vehicle in the garage and lock the garage. - Wheel Locks are a deterrent but don t leave the wheel lock key in the interior of your vehicle, especially the center console or glove box. This is the first place they will look for the wheel lock. OWI- 1- Arrest 09/08/ :32am Northwestern Hwy & Evergreen Rd. Officer was driving around 10 Mile Rd. and Northwestern Service Drive, when he observed a Dark Colored Chevrolet Camaro facing S/B in the N/B lanes of the Northwestern Service Drive, just South of 10 Mile Rd. Officer recognized the vehicle to possibly be the vehicle that he had been dispatched to look for as a possible OWI driver earlier and noted that the vehicle was in the far-right hand lane and both the passenger tires were in a small ditch in the construction zone. Officer located a female walking near the vehicle who smelled of intoxicants and stated she had been driving the vehicle and got lost. The female was investigated and arrested for OWI. -After parking your vehicle turn your wheels all the way to the right or the left. This will make it difficult to get the lug nuts off the front wheels. -If you don t have a garage, try to park your vehicle as close to your residence as possible. -If you here any loud noises near where your vehicle is parked, especially during the late night or early morning hours, attempt to look outside without alerting anyone and if someone is tampering with your vehicle immediately call 911, (Do Not Approach or Scare the Suspects Away) give Police Dispatchers as much information about the suspect(s) and

16 suspect vehicles as you can. Stay on the phone with Dispatchers until the Police arrive. -Lots of lighting around the area(s) that you park your vehicles is also very beneficial. Criminals don t like to work in well lighted areas. They prefer to work in darkness because it s difficult to see them. CCW- 1- Arrest 09/07/ :19pm Block of Rackham St. Officers were dispatched to a disturbance. Officer located a male and female arguing in the driveway at the residence in the Block of Rackham St. As Officer pulled up, the female began walking south on Goldwin. As the female turned away from Officer, he observed a black and silver handgun on the rear of her right hip tucked into her pants. The female was ordered to stop and she ignored Officers commands. As the female was walking, she pulled her shirt down over the gun. Additional Officers arrived on scene and the female was taken into custody. w/o incident. A handgun was recovered from suspect. No CPL. Special Attention: Larceny of Packages that were ordered and delivered via Common Carrier. How to prevent this from happening to you! Recently several citizens have had packages that were delivered to their residences and apartments stolen prior to them retrieving the packages. Citizens can prevent this from happening by scheduling a specific time to have the package delivered and be waiting for the package. Citizen can also schedule the package to be picked up by themselves at the common carrier facility.

17 Special Attention: Do Not Leave your Firearm in your Vehicle!!!!!! Recently there have been numerous vehicles broken into and Handguns have been taken. The first three palaces that suspects look for the handguns: Glove Box, Center Console & under the front seat!!!! Handguns should only be left in a lock box that is securely bolted down in the trunk of the vehicle or the rear of SUV s. DWLS/ Possession of Marijuana- 1- Arrest 09/03/ :45am Block of Telegraph Rd. On 09/03/2018 at approx. 12:45am, Officers were dispatched to the Block of Telegraph (Fast Food Restaurant) on a report of a slumped subject driving a Pontiac Grand AM in the drive through. Officer located the vehicle and spoke to the driver who was awake with the vehicle running in the drive thru. A check on the driving status of the driver revealed that his license was Expired and Suspended. The driver was arrested for DWLS. A search incident to the arrest, Officer recovered two suspected marijuana cigarettes from a cigar box that was in the driver s pocket. The driver stated he had a marijuana card but he couldn t produce it. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician Field Tested a sample of the suspected marijuana. It tested positive for possible presence of marijuana.

18 Domestic Aggravated F/A- 1- Arrest 09/04/2018 1:41pm Block of Nancy Officers were dispatched to the Block of Nancy Ave on report of a 17-year-old who pulled a gun on his brother. Investigation revealed that the suspect was staying at his uncle s house (victim) while his parents were out of town. Victim was questioning his nephew (suspect) about some headphones that came up missing and according to victim his nephew attempted to get what appeared to be a handgun that he had in bed with him. The victim felt threatened and a struggle ensued for the handgun. Victim was able to take the handgun from his nephew. There was also a knife that was recovered from the nightstand. Upon further inspection of the handgun it was determined to be a BB Gun w/o the orange indicator on the barrel. The suspect was taken into custody for Domestic F/A.

19 PWID Marijuana Treats- (Juvenile TOT Mother) 09/07/2018 9:19pm Block of Lahser Rd (High School) School Liaison Officer was working football game when he noticed School Administrator escorting a student from the bleacher section. Officers assisted administrator. The Administrator had witnessed what he believed to be a hand to hand between students. When the students noticed the administrator, they ceased the transaction. Student later emptied out his backpack which contained several clear plastic baggies that contained Rice Crispy Treats. When unzipping the bag, a strong odor of marijuana was emanating from within the bag. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician Field Tested a sample of the suspected marijuana treat. It tested positive for possible presence of marijuana. The student (juvenile) was later turned over to his mother on scene.

20 Possession of Marijuana/ Disorderly Warrant- 1- Arrest 09/08/ : Block of Southfield Rd. Officers were sent to the area of the Block of Southfield Rd. to investigate shots heard and a woman screaming. Officers located a vehicle occupied by a man and woman in the area and investigated them. When officers approached the vehicle, they observed furtive movements by the driver and the odor of marijuana was present in the vehicle. The driver was uncooperative when interviewed and was sweating profusely. Further investigation by officers led to the arrest of the driver for an outstanding warrant out of Southfield for Disorderly Person. Officer conducted a search of the driver, finding a clear plastic bag containing a green leafy substance consistent with the appearance of marijuana in his front left pant pocket. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician Field Tested the suspected marijuana, confirming that it tested positive for marijuana. No handgun was located and there was no evidence of any gunfire. Female passenger was released on scene.
