2 Commercial Burglaries: Date/Time Address (block range) Method of Entry /Suspect Information 12/31/2018 4:57am Telegraph Rd. (Gas Station) Glass panel was broken out on garage door. Officers were dispatched to B&E Alarm at Gas Station in the Block of Telegraph Rd at 5:08am. When Officers arrived, they discovered a good B&E. A review of surveillance video showed at 4:57am a B/M, medium build, wearing a black Carhartt type jacket, black and gray flannel pajama pants and black boots. The suspect had a black beanie and his hood up the whole time. The suspect was wearing a yellow glove on his right hand and a brown glove on his left hand. The suspect grabbed several cigarette packs and placed them in his backpack. He then ripped the cash register from the counter, grabbed his backpack, walked to the front door, unlocked it and left at 4:58am. The owner advises cash & cigarettes were taken.

3 From: 12/31/2018 6:00pm To: 01/02/2019 8:30am (6- B&E s) Southfield Rd. (Multi- Office Complex) Entry into Office Building was through the north door which was propped open. The interior suites were forced open. Officers were dispatched to the Block of Southfield Rd. on a report of a B&E of several suites in the office building there. Entry into the Office Building was through the north door that was propped open. Total of 6- Suites were broken into. 4- where vacant/ unoccupied. It appears a Flat Screen TV and possibly several Laptop Computers were taken.

4 01/04/2019 4:33am Lahser Rd. (Commercial- Pharmacy)) Blue Mini-Van was used to ram the front doors. Entry wasn t made. Officers were dispatched to location on the report of a suspicious vehicle. given was a Small Blue Mini Van or SUV, backed up to the Pharmacy front doors. Dispatch advised the caller was Security and they were watching on a monitor. Upon arrival, the front doors were smashed in and the ATM was damaged. The doors and ATM were damaged by the impact of the vehicle striking the building. It did not appear that entry was gained as responding officers had to force entry through the damaged doors to check the interior. Nothing appeared to be missing or tampered with inside. The ATM may have been targeted due to the proximity next to the door. The face of the ATM was discovered opened upon initial response, however, this appeared to have been caused by the impact and not by any other means. Note: Another nearby jurisdiction had a Smash and Grab involving a Blue Mini-Van and they were looking for the suspects who ran from the vehicle. A witness called them reporting a Blue Minivan was ramming the front doors to a Gas Station. When they pulled up the subjects ran on foot. PD there stated they are waiting for a K-9 to do a track. It appears that their incident is related to ours. 5 Home Invasion: Date/Time Address (block range) Method of Entry /Suspect Information From: 12/31/ :35pm To: 12/31/2018 1:05pm Charlton Sq. (Residential Apartments) (Storage Unit) Lock on storage unit was pried off. Victim states she went into the basement to do her laundry at approx. 12:35am and her storage locker was secure. Victim returned to the basement to change her laundry at approx. 1:05pm and found person/s unknown had pried the lock off her storage locker and searched through items inside. Victim is unsure if anything has been taken. Note: There was another storage unit broken into at same location sometime between 12/24/ :30am- 12/25/ :00am. 01/02/2019 3:09am Franklin Rd. (Residential- Condo s) Basement window was broken out. Officers responded to B&E Alarm at residence. Officers arrived and found the front door unsecured. Officers checked the residence and discovered a basement window broken out. Nothing appeared to be disturbed in the residence. The homeowner was contacted and Officers were working with resident to secure the residence.

6 01/03/2019 9:02pm (Auto Theft Also) Carmona St. Entry gained through Master Bedroom Bathroom Window. Unknown if it was locked. >>>>>>>>>>>>> Manufacturer FORD Model EDGE Color TAN - Tan Vehicle Year 2017 Body Style SW - Station Wagon State MI License Year Tan Ford Edge >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Homeowner was out of town and received a notification that there was an alarm activation at her residence. A house sitter arrived at the house approx. 5 minutes prior to the Police arriving. The house sitter advised Police that everything looked alright and Officers cleared residence. After Officers left, the house sitter was face timing with the home owner and it was discovered that her 2017 Tan Ford Edge was missing from the garage. Further investigation by the house sitter it is believed that someone broke into the house through the master bedroom bathroom window. The screen was disturbed and things were knocked over into the sink by the window.

7 01/04/2019 8:57pm Shiawassee Cir. (Residential- Condo s) 1st point of entry: Smashed out the side light windows at the entrance to the apartment building. 2nd point: Front door was kicked in. Victim reported that he had left his apartment around 3:00pm. Victim returned at 10:50pm and discovered that his apartment had been broken into. A Floor Scrubber, Furniture Dry Cleaning System, Ninji Extractor, & a Carpet Cleaner were all in the living room. Nothing else was disturbed. Victim states the equipment is for his business. From: 01/06/2019 9:25am To: 01/06/2019 5:30pm Lancaster Dr. (Residential- Apartments) Attempt only on door wall. There was a piece of conduit inside the track that prevented entry. Victim states she left residence at approx. 9:25am and returned shortly after 5:30pm. When victim got home she discovered that someone attempted to pry the door wall open near the handle and locking mechanism. There were a few pry marks in the aluminum frame, however not distinctive enough to identify the type of prying device. The exterior pane of glass appears to have been broken from the force of someone prying on the locking mechanism. There was a piece of conduit inside of the door wall in the track, which prevented the suspect(s) from gaining entry. Attempt Only.

8 01/06/ :21pm Creekside Dr. (Residential- Apartments) Door was kicked in. Tips: Let trusted neighbors know if you are not going to be at home Be cautious about who you let in your home for service and repairs Contact the Southfield Police Crime Prevention Bureau for a free home security inspection (248) Officers responded to Domestic Dispute at location. Dispatch advised the R/P s girlfriend was currently trying to kick down her front door. She hung up the phone on dispatch. Officers arrived and spoke with caller. She had obvious fresh injuries under her right eye and right side of her neck. Victim stated her injuries were sustained in the car (in Detroit) coming home from a bar in Detroit. When they got to her apartment in Southfield victim went into her apartment and locked the door. Her girlfriend kicked in the door and entered apartment. Victim pushed her girlfriend back out of the apartment and told her she called the Police. The girlfriend fled prior to the Police arriving. The female suspect was identified and incident is under further investigation.

He rented a room for the female at Hotel in Southfield & then went with the female to pick up her female friend. After picking up the other female they all returned to the Hotel in Southfield. Victim took his jacket off and went into the bathroom. When he came out the two females were gone and so was his vehicle. The keys to his vehicle were taken out of his jacket pocket. Inside victim s vehicle was his cell phone, briefcase, heating and air conditioning tools, and an undisclosed amount of cash. 10 33 Sex F Race BLACK Eye Color Hair Color Black Build Heavy Height 6' 0" - 6' 1" Notes Has black marks on the right side of her face. 01/03/2019 3:04pm North Park Dr. (Residential- Apartment) Manufacturer DODGE Model CHALLENGER Color GRN - Green Vehicle Year 2015 Body Style 2D - 2 Door State MI License Year 2019 Green Dodge Challenger Victim parked his vehicle on 01/02/2019 at 10:00pm, his vehicle was missing at 5:30am the following morning. Victim stated that there was broken glass where he parked his vehicle. No suspect information.

11 01/03/2019 9:47am Northwestern (Commercial- Medical Transport) A Attempt UDAA Manufacturer DODGE Model A Color BLU - Blue Vehicle Year 2007 Body Style State MI License Year BLUE DODGE CARAVAN R/P states on 01/03/2019 at approx. 9:47am he noticed that the ignition on one of their company vehicles, 2007 Dodge Caravan was damaged. The vehicle was left locked and parked in the rear of the business from 12/26/ /03/2019. There is no suspect information. Attempt Only. 01/05/2019 1:30am Telegraph Rd. (Grocery/ Household Goods) A - Attempt Only Manufacturer GMC Model TRUCK Color WHI - White Vehicle Year GMC U-Haul Truck On 01/05/2019, Officers were conducting routine patrol in the parking lot in the Block of Telegraph Rd, when they located a U-Haul Truck that was in Lein as a Stolen Vehicle out of Detroit. The vehicle was recovered and a lein message was sent to DPD.

12 From: 01/06/2019 9:00pm To: 01/07/2019 6:30am Van Buren St. SR - Both Stolen and Recovered Manufacturer Model Serial No. License No. Color CHEVROLET COBALT WHI - White Vehicle Year 2010 Body Style 4D - 4 Door State MI License Year CHEVROLET COBALT 4DR WHITE Recovered Date/Time 01/07/2019 5:30am Location SOUTHFIELD & W EIGHT MILE RD Victim stated that her homeless son came to her residence yesterday to clean up. He requested to do laundry, eat, stay the night and she agreed. She said that she went to bed at around 9:00pm and she was awakened by a phone call at around 6:30am. Her son told her that he was out warming her car up because he was going to use it to go to work and someone pushed him over to the passenger side and fled with the car. Her son did not give her any further information so she hung up and called 911. (Appears son was involved in Vehicle Theft) The vehicle was recovered after it was involved in a Robbery at a business in Southfield, Fleeing & Eluding, vehicle crash and a foot pursuit. Victims son was in the car with a bunch of his friends. Tips: Never leave your vehicle running unattended Park in areas where your vehicle is viewable if possible Use commercially available security devices

Most of the incidents involved checks being taken. In situations like this incident, citizens should hand deliver their rent payment to the Apartment Complex Office. Citizens that mail checks from their mailboxes should either hand deliver it to their mail person or mail it directly at the Post Office. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Victim purchased two money orders on 10/01/2018. She placed them into the drop box at her apartment complex. A few days later she was contacted by management and was told they never received the money orders. Victim found out one of the money orders was cashed on 10/09/2018 and it had been altered. The original money order was made out to her Apartment Complex. It was altered and the signature was forged. Victim did not have information on the second money order. From: 01/04/2019 8:50pm To: 01/04/2019 9:00pm Providence Dr. (Residential- Apartments) Undisclosed amount of cash. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens should never leave anything of value in the interior of their vehicles. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Victim reports he parked his 2006 Blue Pontiac Vibe on 8:50pm in his Apartment Complex on Providence Dr. When he returned to his vehicle at 9:00pm he noticed his money in the center console was missing. He left the vehicle unlocked and there was no damage.

14 01/02/ :17am Evergreen Rd. (Commercial- Jewelry) Undisclosed amount of cash. Victim states she was at Jewelry Store in the Block of Evergreen Rd and used the ATM Machine. She alleges that she withdrew an undisclosed amount of cash and walked away without taking the money. When she realized she had left the money she returned to the ATM and the money was gone. She confronted a male that was at the ATM after her and he denied taking the money. Incident is under further investigation. Suspect: Last Name SUSPECT First Name UNKNOWN DOB (Age) 55 Sex M Race BLACK Height 5' 8" - 5' 9" Weight 160 Attire Glasses 01/02/2019 2:32pm Forestview Dr. 2- Checks >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens that mail checks from their mailboxes should either hand deliver it to their Mail Delivery Person or mail it directly at the Post Office. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> A neighbor came to victim s house at approx. 10:30am with outgoing mail that she had earlier put into her mailbox. Victim checked her mail and discovered that two checks were missing from two of envelopes that she had put in her mailbox. Victim had placed the mail in her mailbox on the morning of 01/02/2018. Her neighbor found the mail on her property.

15 01/03/2019 8:44am Telegraph Rd. (Commercial- Electric) Manufacturer Bank Check Victim states on 01/02/2019 an unknown B/M driving a Beige Buick Sabre drove up to his business (In the Block of Telegraph Rd.) and took two checks out of the mailbox. Both checks were Bank Checks. One was presented at a Bank in another jurisdiction but was not cashed. The other check was presented at an unknown location and was cashed. The original checks were used to create fraudulent checks made out to another person. Suspect Vehicle : Video surveillance shows what appears to be a Gold Buick 4-dr. driving through the parking lot of victim s business and then stops at the mailbox. A person (unknown male or female) steps out of the vehicle and opens the mailbox and appears to take something out of the mailbox. The driver then gets back in to the vehicle and drives away.

16 From: 01/02/ :21pm To: 01/02/ :24pm W Twelve Mile (Commercial Business) Manufacturer DTE Electric Meter Officers were dispatched to location to investigate Larceny of DTE Meter. Review of Surveillance Video shows at 11:21pm on 01/02/2019 a White or Light-Colored Dodge Ram 4 door pickup truck turns south on Stuart St. and parks just south of the business. An unknown male is then observed walking up to the rear of the business and the video stops at 11:24pm. Most likely when the DTE Meter was removed and thus cut off the power to business. 01/03/2019 4:41pm Southfield Rd. (Commercial- Home Goods) Manufacturer Apple Model I Phone 6s License No. Color BLK - Black Black I Phone 6S Victim was shopping at business in the Block of Southfield Rd. He set his cell phone down on the counter in the paint department. When he discovered it was missing he used his wife's phone to track it and the phone had been shut off. The phone was last seen pinging in the parking lot of the store. Incident is under investigation.

17 From: 01/04/2019 1:00am To: 01/04/2019 6:45am S. Hidden Rivers (Residential- Condo s) Manufacturer GMC Model ENVOY Color WHI - White Vehicle Year 2007 Body Style SW - Station Wagon State MI License Year WHITE GMC ENVOY Victim stated he had last seen his vehicle on 01/04/2019 at approx. 1:00am, parked directly in front his residence. Victim discovered his vehicle missing the following morning at 6:45am. Officers observed broken glass on the pavement where the vehicle was parked. It is likely that the rear passenger window was the window broken out to gain entry. Victim advised that the vehicle contained assorted makeup, a wallet, identification and credit cards when taken. From: 01/02/2019 9:15am To: 01/03/ :00pm Samoset Value 1- Check Victim placed a check in her mailbox on 01/02/2019 at 9:15am. Victim had her neighbor keeping an eye on her mailbox because they went out of town. The neighbor checked victim s mailbox on 01/03/2019 and discovered the envelope that the check was in, was ripped open and the check was missing from the envelope.

18 01/05/2019 9:44pm Telegraph Rd. (Commercial- Café) Value Cash from Tip Jar. Victim states suspect came in the store at 9:40pm and demanded he take his order. Victim did not like his attitude or the way he was being spoken to so he asked the person to leave. The argument continued until the person made a derogatory statement towards the victim s heritage. The subject then left the restaurant but came back 2 minutes later grabbed the tip jar, reached in and grabbed assorted bills. Video surveillance shows the subject counting out money and attempting to walk out of the restaurant. Victim and his father, attempted to stop the subject from leaving. During the encounter, the father was slightly injured. The suspect fled the business. Suspect : B/M, 6', Heavy set, dark complexion, bald with facial hair. The B/M was wearing brown pants, black jacket with "Fidelity" on the breast pocket. 01/06/2019 5:37pm Marshall St. Count 1 Catalytic Converter from Honda Accord >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens that are awakened by their car alarm should immediately call 911 and notify the Police. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Victim heard her car alarm going off around 2:30am. Victim looked outside and was unable to see anything and went back to sleep. The following day when she started her car around 5:00pm she discovered her Catalytic Converter was cut off her 2002 Honda Accord.

(Residential- Apartments) Amazon Package containing Exercise Equipment Victim stated her Amazon package containing exercise equipment was delivered on Saturday January 5, 5:45pm. The package was left on her door step. Victim arrived home at 8:00pm, the package was gone. No suspect information. Tips: Ensure your vehicle is locked at all times and valuables are out of sight. Thieves wait for the right time and will move quickly Even if playing sports at a park ensure your vehicle is locked

20 Armed Robbery: Date/Time Address (block range) Item Taken Details 01/05/2019 7:30pm Northland Dr. (Commercial- Office Towers) Xbox One, Xbox Controller, Xbox game and Cash. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens that buy or sell things on Offer Up, Craig s List, ebay or any other sites should complete transactions at a safe location like a Police Department. If the person(s) have ill intentions they will most likely not agree to meet at a Police Department. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Victim#1 & #2 set up a meeting with an unknown male to sell a Xbox One, Xbox One Controller, and a Basketball Xbox One game. The deal was arranged via the "Offer Up" app on Victim#1 Offer Up account. Victim#1 had contacted the unknown male previously via Apple Facetime. Upon arrival, Victims met two unknown black males in the Block of Greenfield Rd., inside Office Building. (Suspect#1: approximately 5'11", dark skin, unknown build, wearing a green zip up hoodie, black pants, green Jordan tennis shoes, and a brown MCM belt) (Suspect#2: black male, dark clothing) at the east doors of the Office Building. The suspects led victims through the lobby and to the basement to a "studio". When they reached the basement, the male in the green hoodie walked to another doorway, opened and closed the door quickly. Victim#1 was standing next to the door, in the corner of the basement, when an unknown black male (Suspect#3: approximately 6' tall, thin, wearing a black hat, black hoodie, unknown pants/shoes) came down the stairs. (Suspect#4: approximately 5'10", light complexion, heavy set, possibly wearing a blue shirt) (Suspect#5: black male, dark clothing). Suspect#3 produced a handgun, threatened

21 Tips: Always be aware of your surroundings and report suspicious incidents or persons to your local police. If something doesn t appear right or someone looks like they are up to no good, call the police immediately Trust your intuition Unarmed Robbery: None Reported: victim and demanded all of his money. Victim#1 reached into his pocket grabbed an undisclosed amount of money and handed it to Suspect#3. Victim#1 ran up the stairs via the door he was at and exited the building via the north door. At this point, all the suspects left via the east door. Once outside Victim#1 called 911. Note: When Officers interviewed Victim#2 he was uncooperative and changed his story numerous times as to what happened. At one point, he told Officers that they were there to meet a couple girls. Never mentioned the Robbery. Incident is under further investigation. Tips: Always be aware of your surroundings and report suspicious incidents or persons to your local police

22 Be on the Look Out Highlights: Special Attention: Larceny of Mail This Past Week! We have recently seen several incidents involving mail being taken or tampered with throughout the city. Most of the incidents involved checks being taken. One incident involved someone putting their rent payment mail slot at their apartment complex. In situations at Apartment Complexes, citizens should hand deliver their rent payment to the Apartment Complex Office or Manager. Citizens that mail checks or anything of value from their residence mailboxes should either hand deliver it to their mail person as they drive up to your mail box or mail it directly at the Post Office. 23 Special Attention: Marijuana- Smuggle 01/02/2019 7:59am Block of Melrose Ave. (Common Carrier) Officers were dispatched to the Block of Melrose, Common Carrier Distribution Center to investigate a package that Staff suspected to contain marijuana. Officers met with employee from Carrier who opened the suspicious package in Officers presence. The box contained several large plastic bags. Each bag contained many smaller bags of suspected marijuana. The box was confiscated and transported to the Southfield Police Department to be processed as evidence. Incident is under further investigation. Retail Fraud/ Possession of Cocaine- 1- Arrest 01/02/2019 3:00pm Block of Southfield Rd. Officers were dispatched to the Block of Southfield Road for a Retail Fraud with one uncooperative subject being detained by Asset Protection. Loss Prevention employees observed suspect enter the store and recognized the subject as a repeat Retail Fraud Offender. They observed the suspect take merchandise, place it into a shopping cart, and pass all points of sale without offering any payment for the merchandise. The suspect was stopped by Loss Prevention prior to exiting the store and he was escorted to the Loss Prevention Office. Officers found PC for the arrest and took suspect into custody for Retail Fraud. (Habitual) During the search of suspect incident to the arrest Officers located two folded lottery tickets containing suspicious white powder. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician Field Tested the suspicious powder and it came back positive with a possible presence of Cocaine. The suspect was also charged with Possession of Cocaine.

24 Special Attention: CSC-4 01/05/2019 8:52pm Block of Corporate Dr. (Hotel) Victim states she went downstairs to the front desk when she was approached by a young male (suspect) that asked her where her husband was. Victim stated he is back in the room. Victim continued back to her room on the third floor. When she got to the third floor she was surprised to see the same suspect was sitting in a chair in the hallway. The suspect asked if he could talk to her and she replied no. The suspect showed her "a bunch of money, $100 bills" then grabbed her "breast and buttocks." Victim started to call out for her son and the suspect took off running down the hallway. Victim went to her room and called 911. Suspect : Last Name SUSPECT First Name UNKNOWN DOB (Age) 20 Sex M Race BLACK Hair Color Black Hair Style Braided Complexion Light Brown Build Thin Height 5' 6" Clothing Suspect was wearing dark clothing. Injunctive Order Violation/ Warrant Arrest for FTA Domestic Violence 3 rd Degree- 1- Arrest 01/05/2019 9:21pm Block of Coral Gables Officers responded to residence to investigate Domestic Situation possibly involving CSC-4. While Officers were investigating Dispatch advised Officers that there was a confirmed Southfield Warrant for FTA Domestic Violence 3rd degree for male half of Domestic. The male half was also found to be in direct violation of the injunctive order in LEIN. The male half was taken into custody and transported to Southfield Jail w/o incident.

25 Special Attention: Fleeing & Eluding 01/04/ :34am M-10/ Lahser Rd. Officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation and a short vehicle pursuit ensued. The pursuit was terminated at M-10 & Southfield. Suspect Vehicle: (1) Gray 2006 Chevy Impala. Vehicle was occupied by the lone driver. Officers did not observe the driver and were unable to identify. Officers were able get the license plate# during the pursuit and incident is under further investigation. F/A- 1- Arrest 12/31/2018 2:39am Block of Northwestern (Bar) Officers were dispatched to the Block of Northwestern (Bar) on a report of a felonious assault that just occurred. The victim stated that a subject pointed a handgun at him following an altercation. The suspect left the location in a Red Ford Focus. Officers located the suspect vehicle and arrested an adult male for felonious assault. The suspect was lodged in the Southfield Jail. Special Attention: Larceny of Packages that were ordered and delivered via Common Carrier. How to prevent this from happening to you! Recently several citizens have had packages that were delivered to their residences and apartments stolen prior to them retrieving the packages. 26 Special Attention: Larceny from Vehicles How to prevent this from happening to you! -Citizens should never leave anything of value inside their vehicle.
