Grapevine Dear Members, Happy New Year! I hope each of you has enjoyed the holidays with your friends and family, that you feel rejuvenated, and are now ready to tackle 2015!

Thank you everyone who came out and supported the Dessert Auction. It was a bigger success than we could have hoped for.

1 Grapevine Dear Members, Happy New Year! I hope each of you has enjoyed the holidays with your friends and family, that you feel rejuvenated, and are now ready to tackle 2015! Looking back, 2014 we did an outstanding job as a club closing out We raised over $900 during the December luncheon WOW!! One thing is for sure, desserts are a hit! Thank you everyone who came out and supported the Dessert Auction. It was a bigger success than we could have hoped for. What I was truly impressed with was your generosity in digging through your closets for coats, mittens, and scarfs. Gina Twyman had her hands full getting all of those donations stuffed into her car. Thank you for answering the call and always being willing to do good! Next up in January is the 2nd Annual WCSC Gala to be held on Friday, January 30th. Decorations have been ordered, menus planned, dresses purchased. The Gala committee continues to prepare, scouring Europe for beautiful pieces to buy for the Auction you will not be disappointed. 2 Activities Corner: January Activity Calendar Cooking with Julia and Jan Thursday, Jan 8 This activity has 1 opening! Get transported into Julia Child s kitchen as you cook recipes from Volumes I & II of Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Learn classical French cooking and plating techniques from Jan Parker, a former Chef at the 5-star Four Seasons Hotel. Pearls are not required, but fun is guaranteed. Meeting time is 10:30 and the activity will finish before school is over. Cost is 15 to cover the cost of the ingredients and payment is due at the activity. Maximum 10 participants. Cake & Coffee Wednesday, Jan 9 Join us for cake and coffee at Café Maldaner in downtown Wiesbaden. A full breakfast buffet is available. Meet at the Hainerberg shoppette at 9:30 to carpool or at the restaurant at 10:00, Marktstraße 34, Wiesbaden. This trip will return before the end of the school day. RSVP by Mon. Jan 7. Bunco (Day Time) Monday, Jan 12 This group is still accepting new players. Please us if you are interested in playing either full time or substituting! It s fun and easy, no experience necessary. 3 Activities Corner: January Cooking w/sybille Wednesday, Jan 21 This activity is full! One of our German members chooses a lunch menu, purchases the ingredients, and teaches us how to prepare the meal. The activity is located in Aukamm housing and runs from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm. Cost is Euro which covers the cost of the ingredients. Payment is due Jan 7, from noon to 2:00 the Entertainment Center. Maximum 10 participants. Book Club Thursday, Jan 22 Do you like to read books and then discuss them with friends? This month s selection is Astronaut Wives by Lily Koppel. RSVP for this session is required. Soap Making w/christina Thursday, Jan 29 This activity is full! Making your own soap at home is easy, frugal, creative and fulfilling. Whether you are looking for a more natural alternative to commercial soap, or are just a crafty person looking for a new creative adventure, making soap is fun, and more than a little addictive! We will meet at the WCSC Apartment at 10:30 a.m. Cost is $10 which covers the cost of the ingredients. Payment is due Jan 21, from noon to 2:00 the Entertainment Center. Creative Designs by Renate Michler Thursday, Feb 5 Many of you have seen Renate and Wolfgang s beautiful wooden and painted furniture and décor at bazaars throughout Germany. By popular demand, they have agreed to come to Wiesbaden for the day. They will have plenty of items available for immediate sale and will take custom orders as well. Please stop by the WCSC Office, at Texasstrasse 39 between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm on Thursday, December 5 to see what Renate and Wolfgang have to offer. RSVP is appreciated but not required. WCSC Members Only! Kaiser-Friedrich-Therme Tour -- Friday, Feb 6 Join us on the 90-minute tour through the impressive atmosphere of the thermal baths and admire its technology. See the historic indoor swimming pool and the lavish sauna facilities. Meet at Hainerberg Shoppette at 8:00 am to carpool or at the therme at 8:30. Cost is 2.50 paid at the therme.
