Anthony Nguyen, B.E. 80 and Mary-Rose Agopian Nguyen, B.S. 82, M.S. 84 Anthony and Mary-Rose met in the summer of 1978, while working in the freshmen chemistry lab. War and French brought them together with the help of Cedomir Jeftic, their lab manager, playing cupid to encourage them to preserve their French culture, as they had both been French educated. Anthony had fled war in Vietnam and Mary-Rose in Lebanon. The first time Anthony approached her and introduced himself in French, Mary-Rose though in her head, "God, what a lousy accent! He is butchering the language!" To Cedomir's great delight, Anthony soon became her best friend, as they chatted around a small table in the chemistry lab storeroom, sharing stories over Ritz crackers smothered with peanut butter. In August 1981, when they got married, Cedomir stood tall next to Anthony representing his father. Thirty-six and a half years later, besides two wonderful children Jonathan and Danielle, they are still sharing French, now with a better accent, and oh yes, Ritz crackers smothered with peanut butter! Joel Perez, B.S. 06 and Audrey Criss Perez, B.E. 05 Audrey and Joel met at Stevens in 2004 at a New Year s Eve party at Sigma Nu. While attending Stevens, Joel would visit Audrey at Humphrey s dorm and she would go over to Sigma Nu to hang out. Five years later, they were married surrounded by their family and friends, many of whom are also Stevens alumni. Today, they live in Nutley, NJ with their two beautiful daughters and have never been happier. They have many fond memories of their time at Stevens and enjoy visiting once in a while and walking through the campus where they fell in love. Stevens Sweethearts Stories
Bill Accardi, B.E. 84 and Fiona Accardi Bill and Fiona met in the fall of Bill was an Alpha Sig studying Mechanical Engineering and Fiona was an exchange student from Dundee University, Scotland. They now have three sons, Andrew (Stevens Class of 2018, Chem. Eng.), and twins Kenny and Eric (HS Seniors Class of 2018). Stephen Kosciolek, B.S. '95 and Sandra Roberts, B.S. '97 Stephen and Sandra met on Sandra s very first day at Stevens. Stephen was working for housing and helped her carry everything up the stairs and into my Humphreys dorm room. Over the next week, Stephen seemed to show up everywhere, including the Ice Cream Social where they discovered they both loved so much of the same music -- from Paul Simon to Weird Al. But Sandra knew he was a keeper when he helped her find a place for a late night showing of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" with all her new friends. On New Year's Eve, Stephen officially asked Sandra out and we've been together ever since. Sandra shared a photo from their wedding in July 1999.
Robert Iannacone, B.E. 08 and Stefanie Moret Iannacone, B.S. 10 Robert and Stefanie met at a Shakespearean acting workshop and were both members of the Stevens Dramatic Society. They were both cast as members of the watch in "Much Ado About Nothing." After the show wrapped, they were running out of excuses to see each other. So they just decided to date instead. They got married on Pi Day (3/14/15), and have been blessed with a beautiful little girl. Tom Highet, B.S. 81 and Danuta Jastrzab-Highet, B.E. 81 Tom and Danuta met at the dance at the Student Center in the beginning of spring semester junior year, Inseparable since, they even picked each other up after classes. On a romantic walk on a freshly snow-covered pier overlooking the beautiful NYC night scene - Danuta fell through the pier opening. Danuta knew he was the one when Tom immediately jumped into the Hudson to rescue her from the freezing January water. They graduated on Thursday, had theirrehearsal dinner on Friday and got married on Saturday. They ve been ogether for 38 years and hope for many more!
Prashant Mehrotra, B.S. '90 M.S. '94 and Anjali Ganeriwala Mehrotra, B.S. '91 M.S. '94 Prashant and Anjali met at a Stevens event in 1987 and become friends. As their friendship grew, it evolved into love. Both international students from India, they found love in Hoboken but traveled back to India for their wedding in This year, they will celebrate their 25 th wedding anniversary in Mountainside, NJ along with their 21-year old twin daughters. David Fricke, B.S. 77 and Maria Amato Fricke, M.S. 76 David and Maria met in the TV room in what was then called North Dorm in the fall of 1974 where a group of students would get together to watch Star Trek reruns. David invited Maria up to his room to see his comic book collection. They soon started dating. Sometime after graduation, David took Maria to North Dorm and proposed. They got married in June 1980 and had their wedding photos taken at the campus. The accompanying photo was taken at Castle Point.
Chris Tomesko, B.E. 02 and Lauren Bialko Tomesko, B.S. 05 Chris and Lauren first met during Lauren's freshman year at Stevens which happened to be Chris' final year at Stevens. However, it wasn't until the summer of 2006 that they reconnected "down the shore" and their romantic relationship began. Looking back they both admit to a mutual attraction to each other during their brief overlap at Stevens even though they hardly knew each other at the time! The night Chris proposed to Lauren the New York City skyline was bright and clear in the distance, a special reminder of when they first met at Stevens. They were married in March 2014, have a little boy who just turned one and live in Nutley, NJ. Mark Rajcok, B.E. '90 M.S. '92 and Rhoda Carmichael Rajcok, B.S. '88 M.S. '90 Mark and Rhoda met when they both attended Stevens Christian Fellowship on Wednesday nights and used to go down to Maz's for Friday night Games Night. Stevens had recently become a "wired campus," which allowed them to get to know each other better by exchanging s. This made for some interesting in-person interactions..."what did you think about?" "I answered that in ." Okay, I'll go back to my room and read my ! They've been married since Nov. 7, 1992, and are still in love :-)
Steven Lin, B.E. 94 and Christine Tobias Lin, B.E. 00 Christine and Steven first met in 1993 during an ASCE Open House at the Stevens Center; Steven was in his 5 th year with the Co-op Program and Christine was a freshman. They had a few chance encounters on-campus during that year and even one off-campus at Liberty Science Center s Engineer s Week in Their final encounter, and actual meeting, happened later that year during the Co-op Program s 10 year Anniversary Celebration. Christine was in Co-op then and working at the celebration as a bartender; Steven had been working for about a year and celebrated by talking to Christine most of the night. They talked about Alexander Calder and their fascination with his work; they were married under the Stevens Mobile 5 years later!
