2 Projects Domestic Power Plant being set up at Maamba, Zambia, a new pumping system will be installed at Kariba Lake adjacent to the existing one. A contract was signed for this project with GKC-SRR, in February. Turbine Generator of 150 MW Power Plant The 150 MW Unit at Paloncha was Synchronized with APTRANSCO Grid on 28th February in the presence of officials from APTRANSCO and The Northern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh Limited (APNPDCL). Synchronization of 64 MW Power Plant 1 x 64 MW Power Plant (Unit 3) of PP(O) was synchronized with the network of Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) on 26th February. Officials from OPTCL, Central Electricity Supply Utility of Orissa (CESU) and Chief Electrical Inspectorate witnessed the Synchronization. Switching on Spent Wash Evaporation Plant The Sugar Division commissioned a Spent wash Evaporation Plant on 22 nd March at Samalkot. The plant helps evaporation of rejected effluent water from RO plant up to 25% concentration, which is used for making bio-compost with filter cake from sugar plant. The remaining water is used for cane fields. The plant was switched on by Sri Pramod Kumar Reddy, Environmental Engineer, AP Pollution Control Board, Kakinada and Sri Bhaskara Rao, Assistant Commissioner of Distilleries, Kakinada. Projects Overseas Pumping from Kariba Lake To meet the water requirements of the 300 MW Chimney Structure Civil works for Main Power Building, Steam Generator, ESP and Chimney are under progress. The picture above shows the Chimney under construction. Manufacturing of main Power Plant equipment is in an advanced stage. Generator Transformer and Boiler Drum are ready for dispatch. Training Mr. Siva Ramudu of Quality with Vision, Hyderabad, conducted IMS Internal Auditors Mock Drill at FAP (AP), in January. Mr. G. Subhramanyam, Energy Auditor, Hyderabad, conducted a one-day, training programme on Energy Conservation at FAP (AP), in February.

3 Training on Supervisory Dev. Mr. N. Narayana Reddy of M/s.GSR Institute of Labour Studies and Research, Hyderabad, conducted a oneday, training programme on Supervisory Development at FAP (AP), in March. Quality Cane Seed Development was conducted at the Sugar Division, by Scientists from Regional Agricultural Research Station, Anakapalli for the benefit of cane growing farmers, in March. Convinced with the effective implementation of the above systems, the Auditors recommended continuation of the respective accreditations, viz., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS & ISO Technical Training Programme on Ferro Alloys Dr. S Ranganathan, Sr. Asst. Director of M/s. National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur, conducted a three-day, in-house workshop on Metal Slag Equilibrium, Phase Diagrams, Kinetics of Reaction & Heat Transfer, Power Characteristics and Process Optimization under different conditions at FAP(O). A training programme on Visit of Sumitomo Team Mr. Taro Kimura and Mr.Yosuke Okada, from Tokyo Office and Mr. Suraj Sarkar from New Delhi Office, of Sumitomo Corporation visited FAP (AP), in March. The team was impressed with our production procedures, housekeeping and greenery development. Management Systems Surveillance audits of the following systems, were conducted, in February at our Units 1. Quality Management System at FAP(AP) & Sugar Division. 2. 4 Celebrations On the occasion of Republic Day celebrations, cultural programmes like comedy play, mono action, folk dance, etc. were organized at Paloncha. Comedy Play Mr. T. Srinivasa Rao, Addl. Supdt. of Police (Operations), Kothagudem attended the Valedictory function as Chief Guest. National Safety Week The 42 nd National Safety week was celebrated at all our units, from 4 th 9 th March. On this occasion, safety oath was administered to employees and contract workers. Competitions, mock drills and training programmes were conducted for creating safety awareness. Miss Md. Nagna was chosen as The Best Employee of the Eye Centre for the year 2012 and was given a certificate and cash incentive. The Paloncha Unit, organized a free Medical Camp at Jaggutanda village, in March. Medical experts in various fields, from Kothagudem rendered voluntary services in the camp. Around 600 patients were benefited during the camp. Mono Action The 34th Annual Day of Nava Bharat Schools was celebrated on 27 th & 28 th January. Mock Drill at FAP(O) Social Development The Nava Bharat Eye Centre at Paloncha celebrated its 2 nd anniversary on 19th February. Free Medical Camp at Jaggutanda On the request of the District Collector, Khammam, a 25 kva Generator was donated to the local 50 bed Government hospital to facilitate surgeries, DPL operations and storage of life saving drugs. 5 The Company donated Dual desks to four Government schools around Paloncha. Dual Desks in School The Community Health Centre, constructed by the Company at Kharagprasad, Odisha, started operating from 2 nd January. Nava Bharat Primary School, Paloncha. Sports The Labour Department of Government of A.P. organized an Inter-district tournament for Industrial employees, on 1 st and 2 nd March, at Sirpur Kagaznagar. The Nava Bharat team stood runners-up in Volley Ball event, in the competitions. The Trophy was received by Sri B. Srikanth, General Manager, FAP(O). Trophy for Best Disciplined Team Think it over. Seek first to understand, then to be understood. --- Stephen Covey Community Health Centre - Kharagprasad Education Exhibition by LKG Students An exhibition called Tiny Tots World was held in February. This showcased the budding talents of LKG students of Volley Ball Team Nava Bharat Cricket Team of Odisha Unit participated in the Amity Cup Cricket Tournament 2013 organized by the State Pollution Control Board, at Angul, Odisha. Cricket Teams of Corporate Houses and Government Offices from Angul and Dhenkanal District participated in the Tournament. The Nava Bharat team won two matches out of the four league matches. The team was adjudged Best Disciplined Team of the Tournament. Don t follow where the path may lead.
