69 67 REGULATIONS CONCERNING FIRE ALARM AND SPECIAL SIGNALS. 1. Alarms shall be designated as first, second, third, fourth, fifth,, sixth and seventh; the seventh alarm is a general alarm. All alarms following a first alarm from the same box are to be termed as multiple alarms, and such alarms shall be given only by the officer commanding at a fire. 2. One or more multiple alarms may be omitted and the next in order given; in such case the response and covering to the multiple received shall include assignments of the alarms omitted. 3. For a first alarm three (3) rounds of the box number will be struck on tappers and two (2) rounds on gongs. (See summary for signals regarding control of pressm-e, etc.) 13. Public School Signal. One blow struck three times, thus on gongs and three blasts of fire boat whistles, at 7.45 A. M., will denote no morning session of public schools and at P. M. will denote no afternoon session.

In case a telegrapher has not arrived at a box and a fire is of such volume as to warrant the immediate striking of a multiple alarm, such alarm may be ordered on the box telegraph key by the special code provided for same.
