4 QUÉBEC ABORIGINAL TOURISM: 4 MAIN TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP Being a QAT member means taking part in the development, marketing, promotion and commercialization of the aboriginal tourism products of Québec. It also entails playing a role in the development of the aboriginal tourism industry of Québec and participating in the organization's mission as a representative of a distinctive aboriginal product. SIGNIFICIANT 77% INCREASE IN MEMBERSHIP SINCE 2011! MEEGWETCH! TYPE OF MEMBERSHIP ACTIVE MEMBER A tourism enterprise or corporation, managed by a voting majority of aboriginals. Active members may vote and are eligible to sit on QAT's administration board. Membership fee : 200 $ to 400 $ E.g.: Entrepreneurs, festivals, inns, museums, tourist shops, etc. Active members can be grouped into five sub-categories (regular, outfitting, event, artists and craftsmen/apprentices). + one-third of a page in the issue of Origin(e), our tourism magazine for Aboriginal Québec 200 $ PROBATIONARY MEMBER An aboriginal or corporation managed by aboriginals, in the process of obtaining accreditation for their business activity or having just started out their business. Probationary members cannot vote and are not eligible to sit on QAT's administration board. The Probationary member category applies only for the first two years of membership. + one-third of a page in the issue of Origin(e), our tourism magazine for Aboriginal Québec 500 $ ASSOCIATE MEMBER Individuals or corporations interested in our objectives and activities, and involved in the professional activities of active members. Associate members may vote and are eligible to sit on QAT's administration board. E.g.: service providers, collaborators, sectorial tourism organizations, regional tourism organizations, etc. + Company name and website address in the issue of Origin(e) 500 $ DELEGATE MEMBER Designated or authorized representatives of aboriginal communities, interested in our objectives and activities. 5 QUÉBEC ABORIGINAL TOURISM: 1 MISSION/ 4 DEPARTMENTS Québec Aboriginal Tourism (QAT) was first founded in 1991 as the Société Touristique Innu and later became the Québec Aboriginal Tourism Corporation (QATC) until 2010 before its current denomination. QAT is recognized by Québec's ministry of tourism as the sectoral tourism association representing more than 100 aboriginal tourism enterprises and Band Councils from all Nations in the province. Our mission is to support the development and visibility of your enterprises and products in national and international markets and safeguard the interests of aboriginal tourism entrepreneurs. REPRESENTATION Through the involvement of QAT management and advisors in various regional, provincial and national committees e.g. Tourisme Québec s, Aboriginal Tourism Marketing Circle (ATMC), Québec Tourism Human Resource Council (CQRHT), Mouvement québécois de la qualité (MQQ), and so forth. Representation in the industry and with fund providers Promoting research and knowledge about the industry Structuring the aboriginal tourism sector Supporting product diversification and enhancement Creation of partnerships and cooperations DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT The Development Department provides orientation, guidance and support to aboriginal tourism enterprises that are starting up, expanding or diversifying. It also acts as a liaison between aboriginal and non-aboriginal tourism/economic organizations. Responsible for QAT's development plan Support entrepreneurs according to their business development phase (startup process, expansion, diversification) Maintenance and updates of our strategic data Increase awareness and promote tourism development as a socio-economic enabler Support the diversification, enhancement and standardization of the tourism offer Development tours (Enterprises, CLD, ATR, SADC, station manager, etc.) COMMUNICATIONS The Communications Department is responsible for enhancing the visibility of all members through the website (now accessible on all web platforms including tablets and smart phones), through social media, the quarterly e-newsletter, s, etc. Communicate our initiatives, best business practices and improving organization branding (quebecaboriginal.com, social networks, newsletter) Annual aboriginal tourism magazine ORIGIN(E) Provide services to members Event-planning and media visibility Collaborate in drafting professional documents 5

6 MARKETING DEPARTMENT Since several years, QAT has been promoting the visibility of aboriginal tourism in provincial, national and international markets via major trade fairs, exhibitions, newspapers and publications specialized in tourism. QAT's marketing team plays a valuable role in reaching out to target clienteles and in brand building. Responsible for QAT'S marketing strategy Promote the visibility of aboriginal tourism in major national and international tourism markets (via trade shows, fairs, etc.) Enhancing visibility in the distribution network and with tourists Market segmentation Promotion via press and familiarization tours Integrated strategy for marketing via the Nature Roundtable Brand building and promotion of a distinctive aboriginal tourism (culture box, kiosk, etc.) OUR INVOLVEMENT QAT represents its members with tourism stakeholders and fund providers. Our various participations contribute to build knowledge and further research about aboriginal tourism while structuring the sector. By being involved in various committees, QAT supports the diversification, consolidation and continuous enhancement of the tourism offer via partnerships and concerted collaborations. 11 MUST-ATTEND EVENT OF THE YEAR: THE INTERNATIONAL ABORIGINAL TOURISM CONFERENCE We look forward to welcoming you at the International Aboriginal Tourism Conference on March 24-25, The venue will be the prestigious Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, nestled in the very heart of Old Québec. The walled city offers beautiful scenery and history at every nook, harbouring a unique heritage in North America. This historical setting is highlighted by the proximity of Wendake, the only recognized Huron- Wendat community in Canada, just a few kilometres away. QAT is proud to organize this important event. For the first time, this conference is being held outside British Columbia. This major conference will bring together around 300 leaders, entrepreneurs and key players of the aboriginal tourism industry from Québec, Canada and about ten other countries. Under the theme Commit to Achieve, this conference will be a platform for sharing best practices, ideas and knowledge about aboriginal tourism while highlighting our rapidly growing industry and gathering aboriginal tourism enterprises from here and abroad. The conference will be held in both English and French and will span over two days. It will also host an onsite handicraft fair. In addition to the formal lectures, a grand opening cocktail will be held at the Musée de la civilisation, followed by a Traditions Night in Wendake showcasing Huron-Wendat culture, gastronomy and tourist attractions. In the scope of the conference and its networking activities, QAT will also host the Québec Aboriginal Tourism Entrepreneurship Recognition Gala to reward local achievements in our sector. Further details about applications and nominations will be communicated shortly. The host nation: Wendake in the limelight Through a variety of sites, events and tourist welcome places, Wendake proudly represents the Huron-Wendat Nation. The Huron-Wendat will be hosting a Traditions Night to entertain you in the evening. You will be able to choose from one out of three gastronomical/tourist activities that will be held respectively at Restaurant La Sagamité, the La Traite Restaurant at Hôtel-Musée Premières Nations and Restaurant Nek8arre at the traditional Onhoua Chetek8e site.
