GHS offers athletic physicals By Mr. Rob Irwin For many years, the due date for physicals was any time prior to the first official day of practice. As off-season conditioning and weight training has evolved over time, it is now time to update our due dates to align with this change, making our school safer, and eliminating unnecessary risk. Athletic physicals will now be due prior to participation in pre-season weight training and conditioning. Any student who plans to participate in athletics for the school year in grades 6-12, must have a physical, dated April 1 or after on file in the athletic office. The first day of our summer weight training, open gym, and conditioning will be May 30. We will have staff members available to collect physicals and make sure your son or daughter is cleared prior to participation. Anyone who has a physical dated on or before March 31 or earlier will need a new physical prior to participating in any of our summer programs or pre-season workouts in the upcoming school year. Any physical received on or after April 1 will cover your student for all school sports. What you need to do: 1. Plan on coming to our annual Physical night on May 29 from 6-8 p.m. Health Network assist us with our physical night so we are able to provide an excellent physical for just $ If you do not plan to attend our annual physical night, call your doctor s office and make an appointment for any time between April 1- May 31 to get your physical. If you do not plan to have a child participate in summer weight training, open gym, or conditioning, you just need to make sure you get a physical after April 1 and before any pre-season participation in a sport. *Please understand, we are only providing options for our athletes and always encourage them to see their family doctors. If you have any questions at all, please contact the athletic office.
