AMTSociety and AWAM share common missions to promote and support the profession of aircraft maintenance and educational offerings is one way both organizations accomplish this. Quality Assurance Auditor Position Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities: Plans, executes and follows up on audits, including preparing audit reports and properly documenting all findings. Analyzes current quality processes for compliance to standards and accuracy. Works with various departments in order to resolve compliance issues, provide recommendations and corrective actions; maintains continuous communications throughout problem resolution process. Develops training manuals regarding audit procedures. Provides information and training regarding compliance issues and changes in regulations. Develop and maintain an internal enterprise system that continually monitors procedural compliance to ISO 9001: 2008, AS/EN 9100 & CFR Part 145 Repair Stations, and 14 CFR Part 21 Production Certificate, and Parts Manufacturing Approval (PMA) systems. Aviation Maintenance General Aviation News Business and Commercial Aviation Aviation Week Avionics Today HeliMx Tech Tip: Petroleum Jelly- We use it to lube O rings but did you know it's also called "Mechanics Peanut Butter". We all have had to put washers and bolts on hard to reach studs that are placed in impossible places. Place a dab of petroleum jelly on your finger and place the washer on top. Place your finger with the washer on the stud. Seat the washer to bottom of the stud. The petroleum jelly will hold the washer in place until you can get the nut on. If you can't use a socket to start the nut then put a dab of petroleum

4 jelly on your finger to hold the nut while you try to get the nut started. If you have the space to use a socket to start the nut then all is well. I have seen some mechanics use a dab of petroleum jelly on the washer and then place the washer on top of the nut which is in the socket and start both pieces at one time. I'm not a fan of this practice since this greatly increases a potential FOD event if the washer falls off the nut. If you have discovered some handy trick to making the job easier, let us know and we'll pass it on! Reader, Judith Grigsby was able to expand on last month's Tech Tip, thanks Judith! "To add another trick to getting an extra grip on a stripped screw head is a little Comet from the cleaning closet and spit. It makes paste and does the same as the graphite compound. Kind of gross but works!" Consider a Future in The Forest Service The Washington Office, State and Private Forestry, Fire and Aviation Management, Airworthiness Branch will soon be advertising a GS Aviation Safety Inspector, Airworthiness position located in the Washington Officedetached unit Boise at the National Interagency Fire Center, Boise, Idaho. This is a permanent, full-time position with an annual pay range between $81,823 and $106,396 (2013 GS 13 step 1 - GS 13 step 10). The Washington Office, State and Private Forestry, Fire and Aviation Management, Airworthiness Branch will soon be advertising a GS Aviation Safety Inspector, Airworthiness position with the Washington Office- detached unit hosted at McClellan, CA by the Pacific Southwest Region, Fire and Aviation Management, Regional Aviation Group. We are still actively seeking funding through the school to attend the 2014 Air Race Classic.
