These one-of-a-kind camps onboard the SHENANDOAH continue solely through the participation of your family and others. This upcoming experience will be an opportunity for your child to connect with an environment and historic vessel which, although once common, have now largely vanished. But onboard SHENANDOAH, now entering her 55th season we proudly continue these traditions while involving all our passengers in all the aspects of life onboard and expose them to the awesome life that is a week spent on a traditional sailing ship Thank you again very much for your business and support. 2 SUGGESTED PACKING LIST The following is a checklist of items passengers are asked to bring on their sailing trip. Please remember to pack lightly as passengers sometimes tend to bring too much and to use a soft-sided bag or duffle. Toiletries: toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo & soap Beach towel & washcloth Hat & sunglasses Sunscreen Raincoat & rain pants Bathing suit(s) Soft-soled shoes Sweatshirt / fleece Long pants Shorts T-shirts Sweatpants Underwear / socks Journal & pen Book (summer reading) Musical instrument (optional) Camera (optional) Flashlight Water bottle Stamped postcards addressed to home and relatives Spending money please limit this to $20 Bedding one sleeping bag & pillow case (we provide mattress & cover and pillow) As a rule, we do not allow parents and children from packing the following: pocket knives, cell phones, electronic devices (tablets, laptop computers, radios, electronic games, ipods, etc.) candy, soda, snacks or gum. Note on cell phones: The ship s captain will have contact with the Black Dog Tall Ships office and can be reached in emergencies. If a cell phone is viewed as necessary by parents (for their child s travel, emergency use, etc) they are allowed onboard. They should be packed in a waterproof case and will be collected by the ship s mate for the trip.

3 BOARDING INSTRUCTIONS & TRAVEL INFO: Check-In, Boarding & Return: Check in for passengers and their families begins at 7:00 pm on Sunday evening at the Black Dog Wharf, located at 20 Beach St. Extension, Vineyard Haven (adjacent to the Black Dog Tavern). Passengers should eat dinner before checking in. Parents are encouraged to come aboard the schooner with their son/daughter at boarding time for a short tour of the schooner. Passengers will disembark and be ready for pick-up at Noon on Saturday at the Black Dog Tall Ships office. Call the Black Dog Tall Ships office directly at Travel Services: For your convenience, we have included notes and information on the following transportation options for your trip to, from, and around Martha s Vineyard. Our offices are located in Vineyard Haven. Our neighbors are the Martha s Vineyard Steamship Authority (SSA) and we are less than a 2-minute walk from stepping off their ferry. Taking the SSA ferry from Woods Hole to Vineyard Haven will place you within eyesight of our office when you arrive on Martha s Vineyard. Boat Transportation: The Steamship Authority: Advertising the lowest fares to the islands, The Steamship Authority offers transportation for passengers and vehicles between Woods Hole to the towns of Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven on Martha s Vineyard. 4 Vineyard Fast Ferry: Vineyard Fast Ferry offers service from Quonset, Rhode Island to Oak Bluffs. Information and booking can be found at vineyardfastferry.com* *ferries arriving in Oak Bluffs will require either a taxi or bus ride to get to Vineyard Haven and our offices. See notes on Ground Transportation below for info on bus service. Air Transportation: JetBlue offers daily seasonal service from JFK and Boston s Logan Airport to Martha s Vineyard. To book a flight, go to jetblue.com or call 1 (800) JETBLUE. Delta offers daily service is offered from JFK to Martha s Vineyard. For bookings, go to delta.com or call 1 (800) Cape Air regularly serves the Airport year-round from many locations including: Boston's Logan International Airport (BOS), White Plains Westchester County Airport (HPN), New Bedford Regional Airport (EWB), Hyannis' Boardman-Polando Field (HYA) and the Nantucket Memorial Airport (ACK). They also offer seasonal service to Providence's T.F. Green Airport (PVD), and Provincetown Municipal Airport (PVC). 5 RESERVATIONS, PROMOTIONS & CANCELLATION POLICY Reservations: A 50% deposit is required to reserve space for program. Payments can be made by check, Visa, MasterCard and American Express. The fare s balance is due four weeks prior to date of boarding. Upon receipt of deposit, passengers will be mailed confirmation materials including important information and medical form. A minimum of 18 passengers is required to confirm each Kids Cruise program. In the event that this requirement is not reached one month prior to the boarding date, passengers will be contacted in the order of their reservations and offered transfer of their reservation to another program or refunded in full. Kids Cruise schedule is at will and subject to change. All reservations are first-come, first-serve. Refer A Friend promotion: This opportunity to receive a $100 credit for each first-time customer that you refer to the program continues in Before or after your own reservation, simply contact us with the name of the family that you ve referred. Once they ve made their own reservation we ll credit you $100 towards your balance payment. Refer as many new customers as you d like. Cancellation Policy: Without penalty and space permitting, all reservations are transferrable to other weeks. Notice to reschedule must be received in writing. Cancellations made outside of four weeks prior to the start of the scheduled trip will be refunded in full. All notices of cancellation must be received in writing. No refunds given for cancellations made within four weeks of start of the scheduled trip. The Black Dog Tall Ships reserves the right to cancel all programs in the event of bad weather, mechanical issues or other unforeseen circumstances. Full refunds given for programs cancelled by the Company.

6 RULES FOR PASSENGER CONDUCT & BEHAVIOR The Black Dog Tall Ships thanks you very much for the opportunity to take your child aboard with us and provide them with this amazing program. As a company, we are committed to doing all that we can to make sure that your child s time with us is nothing but a first-class sailing and camp experience. Once onboard, you child will become part of the ship s crew and bears some of the responsibility in allowing the others onboard to enjoy the experience in a safe and responsible manner. This shared responsibility among all the ship s passengers includes respect for others, their belongings, space and experience The following rules regarding behavior and conduct are in place to allow all the ship s passengers to understand our expectations and to get the most enjoyment out of their time onboard and are strictly prohibited: Verbal and physical bullying, teasing and harassing The use of profanity, including threatening and inappropriate language Tobacco products and alcohol. Alcohol, tobacco products or illegal drugs in any form are not permitted, and will be cause for immediate removal of the passenger from the boat. Theft and invasion of others space Not responding to, or disobeying instructions from the captain and crew, and the set rules regarding safety and behavior onboard for the program The Black Dog Tall Ships reserves the right to unload any passenger which does not follow these basic rules designed to preserve the quality of the program and the safety of the other passengers. If unloaded, the resulting cost for transporting the passengers to meet his/her family will be at the family s expense. We encourage you to discuss these rules with your child in advance of their time aboard.
