1 Paper Ticket Request Process and Guidelines Effective 01 June 2008 British Airways has already communicated the initial policy and guidelines with regards to the removal of BSP paper stock from BSP agents effective 31 May This follow up document is to provide additional information for the UK travel trade on how to request a paper ticket from British Airways for itineraries that are not eticket eligible and where BA is the validating carrier.
2 Guidelines Paper ticket requests for travel more than 14 calendar days in advance will be posted to the agent address as advised in the booking. Paper ticket requests for travel between 14 calendar days and 48 hours of departure will default to a ticket on departure at the airport ticket desk. Paper ticket requests for travel within 48 hours of departure cannot be guaranteed. Please ask your customers to allow extra time to collect tickets on departure. Bookings will be validated to ensure that an eticket could not have been issued for the itinerary. Where an eticket can be issued the paper ticket request will be rejected. BA will acknowledge that the paper ticket request has been received and that details have been checked. The ticket numbers will appear in the booking once the tickets have been issued. This process is for prime issue or new ticket requests only. Requests for the reissue of paper tickets following a voluntary itinerary change will need a minimum of 21 calendar days notice and you are asked to consult with trade support for advise on these occasions. Please note: Requests for departures from Newquay (NQY) airport cannot be processed, as there are no ticketing facilities available at this location. Booking Content Create the relevant MD50/vMPD for a PTA as per instructions previously published on batraveltrade.com. Using the keywords described below add information to the booking according to your GDS system to include full telephone and address contact information and fare calculation breakdown. Should it be necessary to re send a PNR to BA for action for any reason such as where BA has requested additional information, the PTRQ keyword must be entered into the PNR again. Ending the transaction will forward your booking to BA for processing and validation. Page 2 of 6
