Good or bad, old and new ideas, and comments are most welcome. The Councillors aims are to improve the community we all live in. Working with local Borough and County Councillors, we try to get the best from opportunities to enhance or create new facilities. The new traffic lights are an example of where a lot of time, effort, communication and good working relationships provided new street furniture that improves safety for all users. We would ask that you let us know what you would like to see in your village. Each meeting is at 7.15p.m each month at The Cedar Print Room, Enham Trust Resource Centre or please contact us by enhamalameinparishco@testvalley.gov.uk New Skills 2 Achieve office Skills 2 Achieve now has an office open in Andover! 3 Good news stories Do you have any news you would like us to share? your story to or call Madelaine Lyons Looking back on all the properties I have lived in over the years, and it s been a few, fourteen in fact, I have not enjoyed any of them as much as the bungalow I now live in in Enham Alamein. Unfortunately over time, my disability worsened. Unable to settle into London life, we moved with our landlords help, to St Mary Bourne in Hampshire. The house didn t suit our needs and my husbands health also deteriorated. I applied to the Enham Trust Housing Team in September In the months that followed my husband passed away and it was only because of my Belgian Shepherd dog, Gillie, that I got through this difficult period. I needed to inform Enham Trust of my change of circumstances, so I ed the office. I received a call from the Housing office the next day to update all my medical details. Two days later, I have lived in many places over the years, but Enham Alamein and all the people who make it, will take some beating. I feel safe and so happy here I was offered the bungalow! I was stunned! I can t explain how I felt, except that when I put the phone down I burst into tears. I met up with Rebecca from the housing team a few days later and was shown my new home. I just fell in love. I signed the tenancy in August 2015, and with my children s help, Gillie and I moved in. I have great neighbours who pop in for a cup of tea. Anton Lane is nearby, where you can take dogs for a lovely walk. The village has a really well stocked shop and Post Office. The charity shop has various bargains, and is a lovely place to stop for a coffee and lunch. I have lived in many places over the years, but Enham Alamein and all the people who make it, will take some beating. I feel safe and so happy here. Ruth and Richard Richard and Ruth Turner are happily married and feel they owe much of their happiness to Enham Trust. After meeting and later marrying in 2009, they moved into Turnhill Court, Enham Alamein after having previously lived at different ends of the village. They loved living in Enham but when the offer of a new build flat at Bradbury Place, in the town centre, came up they couldn t wait to take up the opportunity to move to be more independent. The transition was smooth with the help of the Housing team at Enham Trust, and they moved in January of this year. Both Ruth and Richard agree that moving closer to the town has made a noticeable difference to their well-being; the ease of being in the town centre and wheelchair accessibility for Ruth has made all the difference. Ruth said We will never leave Bradbury Place. It has brought us closer as a couple and we couldn t be happier. Wedding bells! Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Angus-Smith who were married on the 5th August Ross and Cassandra met at the Enham Social Club and in February 2016, they moved in together in Enham Alamein. We wish them the best of luck for the future. Congratulations to Simon Harcourt and Anita Stride on their engagement on Christmas Day last year. They are due to be married in Enham Alamein on the 6th of December Islay Evans Islay Evans, in her early twenties, made the decision that Enham Trust was the ideal place for her to start her journey of independence and hopefully gain confidence along the way. In July, Islay moved to Enham Alamein, and has made her flat feel like home. Islay feels she has grown as a person since moving to the village; she is very happy and settled and now has the confidence to get the bus to neighbouring towns by herself. She likes to be kept busy and attends the Enham Choices groups on a daily basis; particularly enjoying dance, drama, gardening and games. Islay s family are very proud of how independent she is rapidly becoming. Islay said I have made many friends at Enham Trust and like how I am able to help and support others living around me, I really feel like part of the community. 4 5
