2 OUTDOOR REC INSERT BIKE SANTA FE EVENING BIKE RIDE. From Outdoor Rec, ride 15 miles south (downhill) down the Santa Fe trail to America the Beautiful Park. A van will be waiting to bring you back up the hill. Ages: 12+. Cost: $5, kids under 16 are free but still need to sign up. PHANTOM CANYON DOWNHILL BIKE RIDE Beautiful views, tight canyon walls and tunnels make this our most popular single day bike event. Activity includes: transportation, guide, support and snack lunch. Note: this is a dirt road with vehicle support, not single track. Ages: 12+. Cost: $45. PHANTOM CANYON DOWNHILL NIGHT RIDE. Enjoy a dirt road downhill ride of about 20 miles in the Phantom Canyon. Bring head and tail light that will last at least 4 hours. Activity includes: transportation and guide. Ages: 16+. Cost: $45 SHELF ROAD BIKE RIDE The 25-mile ride starts in Cripple Creek and ends in Canon City. Activity includes transportation, guide, support and snack lunch. Note: this is a dirt road with vehicle support, not single track. Ages: 16+. Cost $45. BIKE RIDE DOWN PIKE S PEAK Enjoy the downhill ride of a lifetime ft elevation drop over 21 miles. At the end, we'll stop at the Wines of Colorado restaurant (not included in cost). Ages: 14+. Cost: $59 weekend trips, $49 weekday trips. OUT THERE BIKE REPAIR CLASS Two-part class. Learn chain repair, derailleur and brake adjustments, wheel truing, tire repair and much more. Bring your own bike or we ll provide one. The class will cover road, mountain and hybrid bikes. At the end, if you are not confident with your new skills, you can attend the next class free for as many times as you need! Cost: $39 one-time fee. CHERRY CREEK BIKE RIDE This slightly downhill ride drops 800 feet over its scenic 34 miles through downtown Denver. This paved path is very bicycle friendly. Activity includes: transportation, guide. Cost: $35. "PEDAL THE PLAINS" TOUR PREPARATION We re offering to help prepare you for this tour with our gear and experience. You are responsible for registering for Pedal the Plains yourself. It is Fri.-Sun., Sept and costs around $280. Info at: Our preparation classes include: A pre-trip meeting so you know what to expect and what to pack and how to pack it. Three group rides where we will help you with proper cycling etiquette, bike fit, clothing, gearing, cadence, tools, food, packing and everything you will need to know. The two night Out there bike repair class, camping gear (tent, sleeping bag and pad). Transportation to and from the event. That s over $250 of goodies! We will discuss bike fit, gearing, clothing, accessories and anything else that will make your tour more enjoyable. Wed. & Thu., Aug ; 5:30-9 p.m. Out there bike repair class. Learn how to tune and fix your own bike to keep you riding and your bike out of the bike shops. Sat., Sep. 1; 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Group Ride #2 Cherry Creek. Sat., Sep. 8; 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Group Ride #3 Pueblo. Fri.-Sun., Sep , Pedal the Plains starts. Meeting time TBD (depending on tour s start point). PHOTOGRAPH BEGINNER PHOTOGRAPHY Learn to make the most of the camera's settings to get the photo you want every time and discover some features you never knew the camera had! All cameras welcome, including cell phones! Activity includes: Classroom instruction from a professional. Ages: person minimum. Cost $45. PHONE-TOGRAPHY! CLASS It s been said before that the best camera is the one in your hands. It s time to tap into your cellphone camera full potential! Take better action shots, landscapes, portraits, and (of course) selfies! Discover features you didn t know were NEW there and learn about powerful apps to help you elevate your phone-tography. Classroom setting followed by a field trip to Happ s cabin to tune your new skills. Ages: person minimum. Cost $35. INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED PHOTOGRAPHY We will go deep into the camera's settings from controlling aperture to shutter speed, finding the best light every time and much more. 3 CLIMB BEGINNER ROCK CLIMBING Come out and learn the basic skills and techniques for this popular Colorado sport. Ages: 9+ (any minors must be accompanied by an adult). Activity includes: transportation, gear and a AMGA Certified Single Pitch Instructor. Cost: $70. ALPINE OR SKI MOUNTAINEERING CUSTOM TRIPS Schedule a custom trip with one of our excellent alpine, rock and ski guides to accomplish your ultimate Colorado mountain goals. Ski mountaineering is best in April-June, and alpine climbing goes May through Sept. Call now to schedule your epic day! Max two people. Cost starts at $150/ person depending on trip type and length. Includes guide, transportation, and equipment; overnight trips include meals. Call NEW! PORTABLE CLIMBING TOWER Call to schedule a climbing tower program at our FamCamp this summer! A great activity to pair with a squadron event, BBQ or party on grounds. Our portable 35 ft climbing tower can accommodate up to 4 climbers at a time and comes with all the staff and equipment necessary. Call for available dates. Cost: $500 for 4 hours, $700 for 6 hours. Ages: 7+ to climb the tower and min. weight of 50 lbs. Call MULTI-PITCH AND ADVANCED CLIMBING TRIPS We can teach you how to build climbing anchors, climb longer routes with multiple pitches, place and lead on traditional protection, and most importantly, get you off the ground higher than you have ever been. Two people per trip. Cost: $90/person! Includes your AMGA Certified Instructor, transportation, technical gear if needed and a custom curriculum. Call RAFT All trips meet and depart from the east side of the Outdoor Recreation Center (where the camping trailers are parked) at 6:45 a.m. and return at about 5 p.m. All rafting trips include: transportation from the Academy to the Arkansas River and back, all rafting equipment and required personal gear, lunch, permits and guides. Our primary concern is for your safety. All guides are state-certified and hold a First Aid and CPR certification. Rafting trips are not limited to the scheduled dates listed. We offer custom excursions on any open dates. Book a custom rafting trip for your squadron, family, company or friends. ROYAL GORGE FULL DAY CLASS IV-V. This trip is for folks who have rafted before and want to step up the adrenaline and feel the thunder! Age: 16+ & 50+ Lbs. Cost: $90. BIG HORN-FULL DAY CLASS III (IV HIGH WATER) Great for first timers, groups of varying experience, kids, and family/squadron fun. Cost is $70/adult, $60/child (ages 6-12 & 50+ lbs.) BROWNS CANYON FULL DAY CLASS III (IV HIGH WATER) Similar to our Family Class rafting trips, Browns Canyon is a more remote feeling stretch of river with awesome scenery! Fun for all ages! Cost is $90/adult, $70/child (ages 8+ & 50+ lbs.) Available for private parties of 10 or more only. Return at 7 p.m. OVERNIGHT RAFT TRIPS Overnight includes: All rafting gear for both days (helmet, PFD, wet suit, splash top), tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, two lunches, one dinner and breakfast, and transportation. Custom Overnight Rafting Combo Trips are by reservation only. Pick and choose the days, activities and river sections you want to raft with your family, friends or coworkers. Choose climbing, zip-lining or duckying to add a new flavor to the trip, or raft both days. Everything else normally included in our overnights also comes with these trips. Schedule at least 3 weeks ahead. Subject to date availability (ages dependent on activity and 50+ lbs). Cost: $260/person. NEW DUCKY DAYS Burn those hot July and August days away on the river in your own inflatable kayak. Duckies as we call them, are one of the most fun ways to experience the river without needing a great deal of experience. We will take you to a section with a couple rapids and fun float sections. 4 MOAB PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS AND SIGHTSEEING TRIP Sat.-Tue., May The area surrounding Moab Utah is a photography dream come true. We are taking a professional photographer with us to instruct and teach you the how, what, where and when to get that perfect picture. We will explore Panoramic, landscape, natural light, Black and white, macro and my favorite Night Photography. Activity Includes: transportation, guides, professional photography lessons, lodging and Park entries. Single Person in Cabin: $445 Couple in a cabin: $545 total Three-person group in a cabin: $645 total Four-person group in a cabin: $745 total Space is limited! Any empty cabins will be cancelled on Fri., May 4. MOAB IN SEPTEMBER Fri.-Sun., Sept ; 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Join us on a three day getaway to Moab, Utah! We will explore the area on a jet boat tour, hiking excursions, and on a 75 ft+ rappel. This is a trip you don't want to miss! Arches National Park is on the list of sites to see, as well as exploring areas containing petroglyphs and ancient art! Trip includes guides, transportation, lodging, and necessary technical equipment. Food is not included. Cost: $445 per person (SAPI Pricing Available) COLUMBUS DAY HIKING AND SIGHTSEEING IN UTAH S NATIONAL PARKS Sat.-Tue., Oct Normally this is our mountain biking trip but we wanted to offer something for those who like to travel by foot. We will explore areas like Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, Dead Horse point as well as lots of little side trips so you can make the most of your time in this beautiful landscape. For those who still want to bike we can get your bikes there and shuttles are available in town. Please attend pre-trip meeting Oct. 2; 5:30 p.m. at ODR. Our 6-pound metal guns with red dot sights look like MP5s and use harmless infrared technology. We will set up a variety of games that will test your individual and team skills. Cost: $15/pers. for a 150-minute session. Call LEARN TO KAYAK POOL SESSION In the Fitness Ctr. pool. Intro to Kayaking/Learn to Roll. For first-time kayakers. Learn basic skills including basic paddle strokes, boat control, balance, T-rescues and the Eskimo roll. Cost: $30. Ages: 9+ and 75+ lbs. Four persons min. DUTCH OVEN COOKING CLASS. Learn proper heat management and some great recipes. We will cook up an entire meal. The best part? We sit down and eat our work! Class and recipes are planned as if you were camping, cook times are minutes long and ingredients are camping- friendly. Cost: $25 per oven (up to 2 per oven, bring a friend), Dutch ovens, and all food included. Eight people max., so sign up early! ADULT CPR. Six-hour class with a 30 min. lunch break. Get your American Red Cross Adult/Child CPR, AED and First Aid Certification with certified Red Cross Instructors. Cost: $55. CRIPPLE CREEK MINE, MUSEUM AND NARROW GAUGE RAILROAD TOUR First, we'll go down the Molly Kathleen Mine. Then we'll learn about some history at the Mining Museum. Finally, we'll enjoy a scenic and relaxing railroad ride through the hillsides. Activity includes: transportation, entries and tours. Cost: $65. Ages 5-12: $50. SPLASH DAYS Schedule your group for a private program! We will bring out stand up paddle boards, pedal kayaks, a raft or two, and a few other crafts to Kettle Lakes on base for you to try out and play in the water. We will also provide some grilled food and refreshments, and be available for any instruction you may need on one of our floating equipment. Ages: 9+ and 50+ lbs. for water activities. 6 FARISH "EXCLUSIVE MOUNTAIN RESORT" comes to mind when describing Farish Recreation Area, a 650-acre paradise nestled in the mountains west of the Academy at an altitude of 9,000 feet. Farish is in perpetual motion with fun activities going on all the time. Summertime finds hiking, mountain biking, fishing and camping. Farish is home to an abundance of wildlife. Depending on the season, you may see elk, mule deer, black bears, mountain lions, bobcats and more! FARISH OFFERS A VARIETY OF LODGING FACILITIES from comfortable lodge rooms to roughing it in a tent in the great outdoors. Weddings, family reunions, off-site team building, conventions - make all your events extra special by having them here. We can host groups of up to 125 people.
