2 1. OVERVIEW a. This document is to provide you some information on the Shasta Lakeshore Retreat and the local area. We hope you find this information useful in planning your vacation. We hope to see you soon. 2. INTRODUCTION a. Our Lake House is located on the shoreline of Lake Shasta in Northern California. It is one of the most popular vacation rentals in the area and is available throughout the year for our guests. If you like to relax, enjoy spectacular views of the lake, the surrounding mountains...and walk to the marina, then this is the place for you. The home includes 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a bright kitchen/main family room with big windows/high wood beam ceilings and a great media/kids room on the lower floor. The two decks offer some of the best views in Shasta and include a gas BBQ and a Hot Tub. The home is shaded by mature trees, surrounded by wildlife and offer lots of privacy. Our Lake House has one of the shortest and easiest walks down to the marina and boat docks. The marina is within sight of our decks and offer $20 per night slips. Also within a short drive are several camp grounds, ATV trails, a grocery store, night spots, restaurants, bait shops, fuel, and even a beauty salon. We are the only neighborhood of homes that are directly on the lake in the Sugarloaf area and this house is the only one available for rent that we know of currently. Unlike some arms of the lake which go completely dry...there is always some lake out in front of you to see from our decks even after four years of drought. 4 viii. Additional Shower (coming in late November) ix. Local Photos being added throughout (coming in late November) 5. LAKE LEVEL a. LAKE LEVEL AND BOATING: Lake Shasta is a reservoir so the lake level and the shore proximity to the cabin will vary greatly based on winter rains, droughts and the time of the year (lowest in late summer and fall) as you can see in some of the photos. Docks are not allowed on private properties at Shasta. You can either launch your boat every day or get a secured slip at the marina (~$20 day) which is walking distance and in sight of the cabin. b. Although the water level is down significantly, Shasta is a very large lake and there is plenty of water for a day or a week on the lake. It still takes 45 minutes to drive a power boat from our cabin to one of many other parts of the lake. Again...best lake in California for water sports. 6. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION a. i. Sacramento arm of lake which is one of the longest and considered the best by most for boating, lodging and fishing. b. From Bay Area of California i. Easier drive than Tahoe ii. Highway 5 until you get to the Lakeshore Rd/ Antlers Rd exit 702 (about 25 miles north of Redding, CA.) iii. About 30 miles further than Tahoe from Bay Area but without the traffic up Hwy 80 or 50...and easy straight 70MPH speed limit on Hwy 5 & 505 c. We are located: i. ~1.5 hours south of the California/Oregon border ii. ~30 miles south of Mt. Shasta City iii. ~25 miles north of Redding, CA Take exit P a g e

5 8. MAIN ROOMS OF LAKE HOUSE a. Upstairs (main floor, driveway level) i. Kitchen/Main Room 1. Kitchen, dining table, pull out couch, 40 TV, pellet stove for heat, big window views, high wood ceiling, ceiling fan and access to main deck. ii. Master Bedroom (Bedroom #1) 1. 9 9. PARKING a. Your vehicles, RVs and Boats will be safe in the driveway or out on the parking area just off the street. 10. LAKE HOUSE IS FULLY FURNISHED a. Linens & Pillows i. They will be clean and on the beds when you arrive. Extras are located in the large closet downstairs between the two bedrooms. b. Towels i. Towels for bathing should be in the bathrooms hanging up and under the sink. Please bring your own towels for boating or swimming. c. Games i. You are welcome to use the board or card games in the house d. Outdoor Shower i. There is an outdoor shower on the lower deck that you can use. It only has cold water but feels great before and after a hot tub or on a hot day. 8 P a g e

10 e. Utensils i. You will find all needed utensils at the house. This includes but is not limited to plates, bowls, cups, glasses, coffee cups, wine glasses, silverware, cooking pots, etc. f. ICE i. There is a small ice maker in the freezer to help with your ice needs. You will likely need more for your day trips or boating plans. You can buy ice at the store or marina. Or you can do what we do.freeze plastic drinking bottles the night before. Use them as ice to keep things cold! g. No Laundry Available i. Unfortunately we do not have a washing machine and dryer time for you to use but there is a laundromat back toward the small town of Lakehead about 2+ miles away. 11. INTERNET Wi-Fi a. The house is now equipped with Internet via an ATT Wi-Fi located in the kitchen. 12. TELEVISIONS a. There is 40 HD TV with Direct TV upstairs in the main room and a 50 downstairs in the family/media room. Both work on the new DirecTV Genie system where there is one DVR that can be accessed by both TVs in the house. They can also record up to 5 shows at once. We currently have a number of great movies recorded. Please enjoy but don t erase so others can watch. 9 P a g e

11 13. CELL PHONE SIGNALS a. They can be weak here in the mountains by the lake. b. We added something called an ATT MicroCell in the house. When working correctly, it basically creates a small cell tower in the house. This will provide 5 bars strength for registered ATT phones. c. NOTE: The cabin does not have a land line phone. 14. BOAT LAUNCH a. There is a county boat launch ~1/2 mile north of our location, off of Lakeshore Drive. To get there, take a right on Lakeshore and drive about ¼ mile. It will be on your right. They charge a launch/parking fee accordingly. As far as we know, this remains open all year as long as the lake level is high enough. The photo on the top right was taken in the late summer in a drought year when the water was about 100 feet down. Once the lake drops about 120 feet or more from full level, this launch may close. Other launches at different parts of the lake should still be available. Historically for bad drought years the ramp by the dam remains open the longest. Call and check ahead. 10 P a g e

12 15. MARINAS a. Sugarloaf/Antlers Marina is walking distance from our lake house. Most times of the year you can see it from our decks. The safest walk is to walk up to Lakeshore Drive, take a right and then take the next right.this paved path will take you to the marina. Although the path behind our house can also get you there, the path is steep and it depends on the lake level. b. Depending on the time of the year and the lake level, this marina offers many different things. i. Boat Slips 1. Are available during the warmer seasons. Historically the rate has been $20-$25 per night. This is a nice way to come and go to your boat from the house. In the busy part of the summer, they may run out of slips so please make a reservation in advance as we do. 11 P a g e

13 ii. Fuel & Store 1. Fuel, Ice, cold drinks, ice cream, snacks, fishing supplies and more are available at the marina store. 2. Fuel is always more expensive on the lake. Fill up your boat at the gas station before launching into the water. The closest gas station outside of the lake is at the Shell station just on the other side of the 5 freeway. This is about 3 miles from the house. iii. Boat Rentals 1. Are available. Check with marina. You might want to call multiple marinas as prices and options vary greatly. 2. To the right are examples from Antler s Marina in Call of go to the different marina web sites. iv. There are a number of other marinas around the lake offering many of the same services. 12 P a g e

14 16. PLACES TO GO AND SEE a. The best thing to do is go to the local market near where you will exit if you stay with us and pick up one of the Shasta Lake Visitor Guides if we don t have one sitting around for you. They are loaded with ideas and places to go. b. Boating i. Large Lake with many marinas ii. Wakeboarding, Wake Surfing, Skiing, Tubing, Sightseeing iii. Fishing c. ATV rides or 4WD paths i. Look on line to see all the trails. One place is easy to get to from our house. Turn left on Lakeshore Drive. Travel several miles until the paved road turns into a dirt road. Enjoy.goes for many miles up in the mountains. About 12 miles to the end of the main dirt trail. d. Walks i. Great neighborhood for walks. Lots of wildlife and friendly people. e. Hikes i. Lots of hiking trails. Find details on-line. Please plan the time of day as it gets very warm in the summer. f. Bike Rides i. Some rides include down to the market or in the other direction around the lake until the paved road ends. We recommend you ride in the early morning as it gets very warm most of the summer. 13 P a g e

Here is just a sample of some. i. *****- 5 Star Rating. We had an absolute blast! It was exactly as pictured and very clean which we appreciated. Owners were wonderful to deal with and always very prompt in answering any questions we had. We took our kids and grandkids and had a great time renting a patio boat (Marina couldn't be any closer) and enjoying the view on the deck. Thanks for providing the source of many happy memories! ii. Wonderful house with great view! This experience was one of our family s best vacations. The house had everything we needed, except our food. We really enjoyed the large wrap around decks and the hot tub!! So peaceful and close to everything. We'll be back!! iii. We had a great week at the house/lake! Weather was perfect for wakeboarding and tubing. The house was perfect and right on the water. We only had to go around the corner for the boat ramp so that was even better! The family can't wait to go again next year! Thank you again for a fun week! iv. Just returned from a wonderful trip to Shasta Lake where we spent most of our time in our boat on the lake. The house was perfect as it was so close to the public boat launch and easy to go back and forth. The house had a great layout as we had 3 teenagers with us and they were able to take over the lower half of the house. My husband and I slept on the main 14 P a g e

16 floor. We were all very comfortable. Already planning next year s trip to Shasta! v. I can honestly say that the Lakeshore Retreat is the perfect accommodation while visiting Lake Shasta, especially if you have a boat. The marina is within easy walking distance and it's only $25/night to rent a slip! I loved the large deck with a beautiful view of the lake. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, pots and pans and the big BBQ on the deck is great! The beds were really comfortable and we slept soundly, it was so peaceful. We'll definitely return next summer. vi. This house was Home for us for a week, Home it was... Very peaceful, very beautiful, the deck was awesome looking over the lake and the marina where we had our boats. Sure miss our morning coffee there. With a party of 9 people, it was spacious, plenty of room, very clean, supplied nicely, everyone loved it Chere' was very gracious to work with, Thanks Chere' "Our Vacation of a life time" Thanks again. Already picking our dates for the next trip... vii. This is our 3rd year and we can't tell you how much we love it here. We keep coming back. It is a fantastic getaway to nature and a great way for our families to reconnect. viii. We are back. This is our second year. I enjoyed coffee once again on the deck. This is paradise to me. It got pretty hot but still beautiful. We got light rain one evening which made everything smell terrific. Three deer come by everyday and stop to see if I have any fresh fruit for them.
