7 Purpose Purpose This manual provides requirements for the Contour 1 Headwall System normal operation and maintenance. It also includes a parts list for ordering replacement components. Audience This manual is intended for use by only facility-authorized personnel. Failure to observe this restriction can cause injury to people and damage to equipment. 10 Features Features The Contour Headwall System is available in a stock model and a configurable model. The configurable model is available in standard and extended lengths. The extended length supplies additional electrical receptacles so it may serve two beds. It also has one additional low-voltage, single-gang, provision. For the location and types of features on the Contour Headwall System, see table 1 on page 4 and figure 1 on page 5. Table 1. 14 Accessories Accessories The Contour Headwall System can be customized with features and accessories to work together with secondary equipment that will enhance the caregiver productivity and quality of care. Secondary equipment such as shelves, utility lights, IV holders, and other medical devices can be attached to the Contour Headwall System, and free up valuable floor space. For a list of accessories available for use with the Contour Headwall System that includes the accessories weight and safe working load, see table 3 on page 9. The accessories are attached to two accessory tracks on the headwall. There are access cavities in the top and bottom of the tracks that let the caregiver slide an accessory into the track and move it up or down to the applicable height. When you use accessories on the Contour Headwall System, follow these safety requirements. WARNING: Do not exceed the load capacity of any accessory. If an accessory is overloaded, injury or equipment damage may occur. WARNING: The weight of all of the accessories attached to the Contour Headwall System and their Safe Working Loads must not exceed 250 lb (113 kg), which is the Safe Working Load of the headwall. To do so may cause injury or equipment damage. WARNING: Make sure you properly attach an accessory to the headwall. Failure to to so could cause injury or equipment damage. WARNING: Make sure you load an accessory with an even distribution of the load. Failure to do so could cause injury or equipment damage. WARNING: Use care when you work with the accessories and ancillary equipment. Failure to do so may cause patient injury or equipment damage. 16 Accessories Accessories Installation Not all accessories use the same installation method. Some accessories are installed directly onto the accessory tracks and others use a holder. Accessories attach to the Contour Headwall System and use one of three basic methods. There are three accessories that use unique methods to attach to the headwall; P971H00 IV Hanger (see P971H00 IV Hanger Installation on page 20) P963C01 Arm Lamp - Incandescent Light and P963C02 Arm Lamp Fluorescent and Incandescent Light (see P963C01 Arm Lamp - Incandescent Light or the P963C02 Arm Lamp Fluorescent and Incandescent Light Installation on page 21) The three basic accessory installation methods are as follows: 1. Accessories that use either one or two control knobs to attach to the headwall (see Accessories That Use Control Knobs Installation on page 11). 2. Accessories that use a P970A01 Universal Holder to attach to the headwall (see Accessories That Use P970A01 Universal Holder Installation on page 13). 3. Accessories that use either two or four mount screws to attach to the headwall (see Accessories That Use Mount Screws Installation on page 16). 17 1.1 Accessories That Use Control Knobs Installation 1.1 Accessories That Use Control Knobs Installation The instructions in this section are used to attach the accessories below to the Contour Headwall System (A) (see figure 3 on page 12): Installation P970A01 Universal holder (B) P673E16B Adjustable shelf (C) P966A00 Utility light, track-mounted (D) P /2" accessory rail (Horizon) (E) 1. Find an access cavity (F) in one of the accessory tracks (G) on the Contour Headwall System (A). 2. Slide the lock(s) (H) of the accessory into the access cavity (F) on the accessory track (G). 3. Move the accessory to the applicable position on the accessory track (G). 4. Tighten the control knob(s) (I) to attach the accessory to the accessory track (G). Adjustment 1. Loosen the control knob(s) (I), and slide the accessory to the applicable position on the accessory track (G). 2. Tighten the control knob(s) (I) to keep the accessory in position. 19 1.2 Accessories That Use P970A01 Universal Holder Installation 1.2 Accessories That Use P970A01 Universal Holder Installation The instructions in this section are used to attach the accessories below to the Contour Headwall System (see figure 4 on page 14): P Bottle slide (J) P1022PH Resuscitator bag holder (K) P973-B1 Bird blender mount (L) P973-S2 Ophthalmoscope mount/welch Allyn 1 model 767 (M) P973-S1 Otoscope mount/welch Allyn model 747 (N) P Aneroid mount and cuff basket (O) P Aneroid sphygmomanometer with coil and cuff (P) The P Aneroid mount and cuff basket (O) can be used alone or in combination with the P Aneroid sphygmomanometer with coil and cuff (P). If the aneroid sphygmomanometer with coil and cuff (P) is used, it is attached to the opposite side of the aneroid mount and cuff basket (O). Installation 1. Install the P970A01 Universal holder (B) as follows: a. Find an access cavity (F) in one of the accessory tracks (G) on the Contour Headwall System (A) b. Slide the lock (H) of the universal holder (B) into the access cavity (F) on the accessory track (G). c. Move the universal holder (B) to the applicable position on the accessory track (G). d. Tighten the control knob (I) on the universal holder (B). 2. Put the accessory mount post (Q) in the universal holder (B). 3. 25 1.3 Accessories That Use Mount Screws Installation Adjustment Up and Down 1. Loosen the two (or four) mount screws (AB). 2. Move the accessory to the applicable position on the accessory track (G). 3. Tighten the two (or four) mount screws (AB) to attach the accessory to the accessory track (G). Pivot To pivot the two swivel shelves (U) and (V) and the two pivot baskets (S) and (T), push or pull on their corners (AC) (see figure 5 on page 17). Side-To-Side The two swivel shelves (U) and (V) and the two accessory arms (W) adjust side-to-side by do as follows: 1. Loosen the thumb screw (AD) on the top mount bracket (AE). 2. Push or pull the arm (AF) of the shelf (U) or (V) until it reaches the applicable position. 3. Tighten the thumb screw (AD) to keep the shelf (U) or (V) in position. Install the P1020D1 Bottle slide (X) (see Accessories That Use Mount Screws Installation on page 16) on the Contour Headwall System (A). NOTE: Alternatively you may use a P970A01 Universal holder and a P Bottle slide to install the P971H00 IV hanger. 2. Put the slide-mounted IV hanger (AG) into the bottle slide (X). Figure 7. Install the P X03 Arm light mount (AA) (see Accessories That Use Mount Screws Installation on page 16) on the Contour Headwall System (A). 2. Put the arm lamp (AH) into the mount (AA). To move the arm lamp (AH) from side-to-side or up and down, push on the arm (AI). 2. To tilt the arm lamp (AH), push the light housing (AJ) up and down. General Cleaning We recommend that you clean the unit with a lightly dampened cloth and ordinary disinfectants. Do not use excessive liquid or harsh cleansers such as, toluene, xylene, or acetone. Steam Cleaning Do not use any steam cleaning device on the Contour Headwall System. Excessive moisture can damage mechanisms and components in this unit. Hard to Clean Spots To remove difficult spots or stains, use standard household cleaners and a soft bristle brush. To loosen heavy, dried-on soil or excreta, it may be necessary to first saturate the spot. Disinfecting We recommend that you disinfect the unit with and EPA registered (US only) tuberculocidal disinfectant. Dilute disinfectants as specified on the manufacturer s label. 40 Preventive Maintenance Preventive Maintenance WARNING: Only facility-authorized personnel should service the Contour Headwall System. Service performed by unauthorized personnel could cause injury or equipment damage. It is necessary for the Contour Headwall System to have an effective maintenance program. We recommend that you do annual preventive maintenance (PM) and testing for Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). PM and testing not only meet JCAHO requirements but will help make sure of a long, operative life for the Contour Headwall System. PM will minimize downtime due to excessive wear. The PM schedule that follows guides you through a normal PM procedure on the Contour Headwall System. During this PM process, examine each item on the schedule, and make the necessary adjustments. Follow the PM schedule with the corresponding PM checklist. This checklist is designed to keep a running maintenance history and subsequent repair costs for one Contour Headwall System. However, your facility can modify this checklist or design another to fit your needs. Two effective ways to reduce downtime and make sure the patient remains comfortable are to keep close records and maintain the Contour Headwall System. In-Warranty Exchanges In some cases, WittRock will request that parts/products be returned for inspection. When this occurs, you are expected to return parts/products within 30 days of receipt of the exchange part. If you fail to return the inoperative parts/products within the 30 day period, WittRock will invoice your facility for the full selling price of the parts/products. NOTE: The preceding billing procedure is only for parts/products that WittRock requests to be returned. In some cases, the invoice accompanying the parts will show the full selling price (only for internal use at WittRock). Do not confuse this price with your price. 47 Warranty Warranty WittRock COMPANY, INC. LIMITED WARRANTY WittRock Company, Inc. (WittRock) has a long tradition of providing superior products and service to our customers. Our goal is Total Customer Satisfaction. In that spirit, WittRock is proud to offer the following warranty. GENERAL WARRANTY (appropriate UNLESS A SPECIFIC WARRANTY IS LISTED) WittRock warrants to the original purchaser that its products and replacement parts shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from date of delivery. Hill-Rom s obligation under this warranty is expressly limited to supplying replacement parts and/or service for, or replacing, at its option, any product which is, in the sole discretion of WittRock, found to be defective. In addition to the foregoing one year warranty, WittRock warrants to the original purchaser that the frame and welds on its products will be free from structural defects for the life of the product. Any product upgrade or modification initiated by WittRock does not affect the original product warranty. However, electro mechanical mattress components (compressors, valves, printed circuit boards, hoses, and couplers) are covered by the general one (1) year warranty. EXPENDABLES WARRANTIES A sixty (60) day limited warranty from date of delivery applies to expendable parts such as cushions, coverlets, software diskettes, locator badge batteries, dome light incandescent bulbs, overhead fluorescent tubes, heating elements, temperature probes, filter sheets, and microspheres. If troubleshooting determines the need for on-site technical service, a qualified service representative will be dispatched. Replacement of non-technical items will be the responsibility of the customer. If requested by WittRock, products or parts for which a warranty claim is made shall be returned prepaid to Hill-Rom s factory. OUT OF WARRANTY EXCHANGE POLICY After the expiration of the original warranty, upon request, WittRock will ship as a replacement, components such as selected: motors and printed circuit boards, for like units returned to WittRock by the original purchaser at a substantial savings.
