1 Southwestern Pennsylvania Human Services Coordinated Transportation Plan: Transit Gap Analysis Geographic Gaps in Transit: Destinations and Resources An important component of the federally-mandated Public Transit-Human Services Coordinated Transportation Plan (CTP) is the identification of existing transportation resources and a comparison of those resources to important destinations for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and low-income individuals. For the purpose of the SPC CTP, the following destinations: Hospitals Shopping Centers Universities Major Employers (SPC definition) Industrial Parks Schools Attractions (SPC definition) The analysis relied upon existing data available to the planning team for SPC and other public sources. The following outlines the findings of the analysis, including those facilities/destinations that are not located with one-half mile of transit, and those additionally located with one-half mile, but not within one-quarter mile. Additionally, a transit gaps analysis was developed using the 2010 census and the 2013 American Community Survey (ACS) at the block-group level to show where there are high concentrations of senior citizens and low income individuals related to the availability of transit. 18 MEDIAN INCOME IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS (IN 2013 INFLATION-ADJUSTED DOLLARS): ACS The chart below shows American Community Survey (ACS) 2013 median income in the past 12 months (in 2013 inflation-adjusted dollars) for each county in the Study Area. Next, 50% and 80% of each county s median income were calculated. Since Census data only provide household income in $5,000 increments, the percentage AMIs were then assigned the closest threshold number for analysis. The numbers in the threshold columns are used as the 0.5 or 0.8 AMI. (At this time, you can ignore the letter designations in each column as they were used internally for calculations.)
