Time magazine wrote that, Young America s Foundation run by a former Reagan Administration advisor, Ron Robinson is now the largest advocacy group devoted to student politics. It went on to refer to Robinson as one of the seasoned generals of the right who is leading the next generation of conservatives who are winning battles on campus. Robinson has led the Foundation through two successful landmark Supreme Court victories for student rights; the inauguration and development of the National Conservative Student Conference and the National High School Leadership Conference held annually in Washington; and the Foundation s effort to save Ronald Reagan s ranch. ROBERT J. HERBOLD THE ASSAULT ON FREE ENTERPRISE AND BUSINESS IN AMERICA Robert J. (Bob) Herbold, retired executive vice president and chief operating officer of Microsoft Corporation, is the managing director of The Herbold Group, LLC, a consulting business focused on profitability, strategy, and operations. He joined Microsoft in 1994 as COO, retiring in Prior to Microsoft, Mr. Herbold spent 26 years at The Procter & Gamble Company. In his last five years with P&G, he served as senior vice president of Marketing and Information Services. Mr. Herbold serves on the Board of Directors of Agilent Technologies and Neptune Orient Shipping Lines. He has published three books focused on leadership and currently authors a leadership blog at He has a Ph.D. in computer science from Case Western Reserve University and has received honorary doctorate degrees from the University of Cincinnati and Thunderbird School of Global Management. PATRICIA L. HERBOLD TO S FOREIGN POLICY CHALLENGES Patricia L. Herbold is a former United States Ambassador to the Republic of Singapore. Prior to her ambassadorial appointment, she was chairman of the King County, Washington GOP. She is a native of Cincinnati, OH, and moved to Washington in In Ohio, upon graduation from college, she was a chemist at a federal government facility. After receiving a J.D. degree, she practiced law as a prosecutor; as in-house real estate counsel with Prudential Insurance Company; as VP and general counsel at Bank One Dayton and as a commercial real estate attorney with a large law firm in Cincinnati. She has been active in community service and continues to serve on several non-profit boards. She has received several awards and an honorary doctorate degree in international relations. In 2014, she was inducted into the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans. EDWIN MEESE LEADERSHIP LESSONS FROM RONALD REAGAN Edwin Meese III, the prominent conservative leader, thinker, and elder statesman, continues a quarter-century formal association with The Heritage Foundation as the leading think tank s Ronald Reagan Distinguished Fellow Emeritus, the only policy chair in the country to be officially named for the 40th president. His work focused on keeping President Reagan s legacy of conservative principles alive in public debate and discourse. Mr. Meese served as the 75th attorney general of the United States from 1985 to1988, where he directed the Justice Department and led international efforts to combat terrorism, drug trafficking, and organized crime as the nation s chief law enforcement officer. He is also co-chairman of the Reagan Ranch Board of Governors. MICHELLE EASTON DANGER OF RADICAL FEMINISM Michelle Easton founded The Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute 17 years ago to put forward conservative role models who promote traditional family values and reach out to women all over the nation to prepare them for effective conservative leadership. She received presidential appointments from both Presidents Reagan and Bush with Senate confirmation for her position at the U.S. Department of Education. She was also appointed by Virginia Governor George Allen to the Virginia State Board of Education, whose members later elected her president of the Board. Additional speakers to be announced. Scuba divers, sailors, hikers, birders and anyone with a hunger for an off-the-beaten-path experience have obliged, taking ferry trips to the isles, from where they often trek even farther to reach remote beaches accessible only by boat. The greater eco-community has recognized the archipelago as a natural treasure as well, setting aside 85% of the land as a park and UNESCO-protected biosphere. TUES, JANUARY 5 ILHA GRANDE, BRAZIL Literally meaning Big Island, Ilha Grande is a natural treasure, virtually untouched by humans. One of the last protected remnants of the Atlantic Rainforest, it is home to a rich and diverse ecosystem, including some of the largest remaining populations of endangered species in the world. The surrounding waters are also protected, so it s possible to see tropical fish, penguins, and whales all swimming together. Largely undeveloped, there are no roads, let alone cars, on Ilha Grande, but hikers have a choice of 16 jungle trails that wind through tropical forests, alongside pristine waterfalls and up majestic mountain peaks. 5 THURS, JANUARY 7 SANTOS (SÃO PAULO), BRAZIL With more than 10 million residents, São Paulo is not only Brazil s largest city, but also its cultural capital. One of Itajai s annual highlights is the Marejada, a festival that celebrates fishing and seafood. Residents are proud of the many sun-drenched beaches that run along the shoreline, as well as a postcard-perfect rural landscape that has remained unblemished through the years. For sports enthusiasts, the city is also a hub for competitive soccer and rowing.
