The State of Rio de Janeiro is 43,780 km² (almost the same area as Estonia) with 92 cities, and it s16,369,179 inhabitants, the 3 rd most populous in the country. South America Brazil City of Rio de Janeiro RIO DE JANEIRO CITY Rio de Janeiro, Brazil`s second largest (6,429,923 inhabitants) and a well known city. Rio de Janeiro city had been hosted some important international events (2014 World Cup, Rio+20 conference) and will host the 2016 Olympic Games.

This reality obliges the government to maintain a CONTINGENCY RESERVE of real estate in order to satisfactorily meet institutional demand. 3 The introduction of a SUSTAINABILITY LEGAL CLAUSE in all Legal Use Assignment between the Undersecretariat for Real Estate and other public body (schools, police stations, fire brigades, museums, etc.) or private occupant. 4 The State Government has improved its efficiency by REFURBISHING PUBLIC BUILDINGS. The reforms are using materials and equipment that reduces energy consumption and waste of water, for example.
