History On the 20th of November 1993, the Bahía del Duque opened its doors, an impressive building located in Costa Adeje, in the south of the island of Tenerife (Canary Islands).

3 History On the 20th of November 1993, the Bahía del Duque opened its doors, an impressive building located in Costa Adeje, in the south of the island of Tenerife (Canary Islands). Hence a dream came true; a dream held some years ago by a group of businessmen, and that consisted of building a top quality hotel complex that would become a benchmark in the tourist sector. Over twenty years later, the Bahía del Duque is a benchmark of luxury, exclusiveness, impeccable service, strategic location (situated in an area that is well known for its micro-climate, with spring like temperatures throughout the year. Bahía del Duque is located on a large estate of approximately 100,000sqm. This project by renowned architect Andrés Piñeiro, recreates a Villa, with nineteen low-rise independent houses, breaking with the concept of tall and voluminous tourist buildings. Bahía del Duque is owned by Inversiones Hoteleras Playa del Duque, most of whose capital belongs to Compañía de las Islas Occidentales (CIO), a Canarian family company, which includes companies from the tourism, industrial and services sector with over 100 years of experience in the market. Chosen by many experts as one of the best establishments that exist in Europe, it has a staff of over 600 employees and its construction, in 1993, represented an investment of over 60 million Euros and then another 60 million in 2008 when the Villas and Spa were built. The Bahía del Duque has also become an ecological benchmark because of the 63,000 square metres of tropical and sub-tropical vegetation that it has and which has propitiated the develo- 3

pment of its own bio-climate, with all kinds of palms, dragon trees, Indian laurels, flame trees, jacarandas, fruit trees, cactus and a range of different European plants.

Its exteriors offer 5 pools (1 salt water pool, 1 heated salt water pool, 1 freshwater pool, 1 heated freshwater pool and 1 kids pool), squash, tennis and paddle courts, play areas, gyms and a lake with several species of animals. One of the most important assets of the hotel is its beach, made up of five coves along a 950-metre stretch of coastline. Known as Playa del Duque, it has individual huts and exclusive services for hotel guests, as well as water sports. Rooms With a total of 387 rooms, 58 of which are suites and 40 Villas, the hotel is a faithful reflection of early 20th century Canary Island architecture. Bahía del Duque offers two exclusive areas, Casas Ducales and Las Villas. Casas Ducales This area was created in order to accommodate and welcome guests seeking greater privacy and a more personalized service. Casas Ducales offer a private reception area, butler service, independent breakfast lounge and personalized services. Recently, Casas Ducales has undergone a renovation signed by interior designers Pascua Ortega and Perico Mesa, authors also, along with the architect Teótimo Rodríguez Hermoso, of Las Villas and of the building and interiors of the Spa Bahía del Duque. This area of the Hotel consists of 17 suites and 34 rooms with spectacular ocean views. 4

5 Villas The 40 Villas, inaugurated in January of 2008 were designed by the prestigious interior designer Pascua Ortega, its exterior feature and private infinity pool, and tropical and subtropical gardens. Its interiors include the rooms, bathrooms finished in basalt stone and skylights. Furthermore, this exclusive area of the Hotel also includes a tea and reading room, snack bar and spectacular common swimming pool with an a la carte food and drink service. These extraordinary residences offers special services such as private dinners served in the Villa, and extensive a la carte bath menu, personalized breakfasts, etc. They are grouped into three types: Las Mimosas (two bedrooms and capacity for 4 people), Las Palmeras (one bedroom with capacity for three people) and Las Retamas (duplex with capacity for two people), Dining The Bahía del Duque has eight restaurants and thirteen bars and snack bars, where you can enjoy Canarian, French, Italian, Latin American or Mediterranean cuisine. Las Aguas It is the flagship restaurant of Bahía del Duque. Located within the area of Las Villas, in a unique and exclusive setting, created by the interior designer Pascua Ortega. 5

Captained by chef Braulio Simancas, it offers an authentic taste of the most innovative Canarian cuisine, with a clear commitment by the variety and quality of local products.

El Bernegal It is one of the most popular restaurants of the Hotel. It offers a breakfast and dinner buffet service, with a different theme every night. Furthermore, it offers show cooking and a terrace where one can enjoy some of the best views of La Gomera. La Brasserie Known as the corner of French cuisine it is located in the central plaza of the Hotel. The Brasserie, led by chef Pierre Résimont, who has 2 Michelin stars, in his restaurant L Eau-Vive in Belgium, offers a menu typical of a French Brasserie, characterized by the use of local and seasonal products. La Trattoria The restaurant La Trattoria is the best option for Italian cuisine, within a warm and friendly atmosphere with views over the central plaza of the Hotel. It offers an extensive variety of traditional dishes and an excellent selection of fresh pastas and pizzas. Beach Club Open throughout the day, and located next to the main swimming pool, where you can enjoy seafood, rice, fish and all the best of the Mediterranean cuisine, with stunning views over the ocean and the island of La Gomera. 6

La Hacienda Located on the beach promenade, this restaurant offers a Mexican culinary proposal, different and colorful for those who love a tasty and fun atmosphere.

Sua SUA (fire in Basque) is specialized in Basque cuisine, where the quality of the raw material is transformed into smoked aromas and authentic flavours, and the prominence on the table ranges from Atlantic cod, suckling pig, peppers Navarra or meat in different cuts, with the star dish bieng the beef steak imported from Vitoria. Sports, Leisure and Entertainment The Bahía del Duque has a reading lounge with national and international newspapers, a bridge and billiards lounge, two tennis courts, two paddle tennis courts, a squash court, Pitch & Putt, a botanical walk, ping pong, giant chess, an astronomic observatory and a gym. In the Bahía del Duque you can also enjoy aquatic sports, such as diving, windsurfing, parascending, stand up paddle, kitesurfing or excursions on the private yacht Pámpano, owned by the Hotel. 7

Moreover, the hotel has started to celebrate personalised birthday parties for some of the children staying here, and by indication of their parents. The Hotel also offers a TEEN LOUNGE, a space devoted to young people and inspired in an atmosphere that recreates the film The Great Wednesday, with a proliferation of the surfing life style of the beaches of California. This space has a relaxation zone with television and an ample video library, together with lots of board games. Furthermore, there is an Internet and Wii zone, a Play Station area and a table football room.
