Time is allowed to explore at the haunting Imperial tomb of Emperor Tu Duc. Arrive in Hue, home of the Nguyen dynasty and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Behind this impressive site and standing in stark contrast is Minh's simple house on stilts. Admire the lotus-shaped One Pillar Pagoda resting on a single stone pillar emerging from the water. Take in the well-preserved traditional architecture at the Temple of Literature, Vietnam s first university founded in the early 11th century. Enjoy lunch at a non-profit restaurant that empowers underprivileged children by training them with new skills. Spend time at Hoa Lo Prison (the Hanoi Hilton), where American POWs were held, and gain insight into their captivity as you stroll past the poignant exhibits. Then, have time to stroll along tranquil Hoan Kiem Lake and through the craft guild streets in the nearby old quarter. End the day

11 Experience It! Halong Bay The jewel of Vietnam's northern coast is Halong Bay. It will take your breath away. The emerald green waters are sprinkled with 1,600 untouched islands and limestone pillars. However, it is more than a picture perfect seascape. In 1994, it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site for its 500 million years of evolution and its rare ecosystems. This conservation site is known for its rare flora, fascinating tropical reef and mangrove systems. It is also rich in culture and history. In the 12th century, Halong was a bustling port in Vietnam and saw foreign trade from throughout the world. Today, its residents live off the sea. Discover its unique floating villages and delicious fresh seafood caught daily by the local fishermen as you take in the beauty that surrounds you. Please Note: Visas are required for this tour at your expense. The approximate cost for a one month multiple entry visa to Vietnam is 65 USD and you must obtain it prior to departure. You can obtain the visa for Cambodia at the airport upon arrival. The cost is approximately 30 USD and you will need one passport photo. A Laos visa is required for this tour at your expense. This can be purchased upon arrival in Luang Prabang, Laos. One complete blank page is required in your passport along with one passport photo. The approximate cost is 36 USD. Certain countries require a minimum of 6 months passport validity from the date of return home. Rates are approximate and can be changed at any time based on governing authority. Not all vendors accept credit cards or travelers checks; therefore, it is recommended you bring small amounts of US dollars which are widely accepted for personal use. Museum visits and shopping may be affected with observance of religious or local holidays. The days and order of sightseeing may change to best utilize your time on tour. Travel with just 24 passengers on this Explorations tour where a smaller group setting means a more personal travel experience.
