Explore the historic porcelain centers of Europe on specially arranged visits in Berlin, Dresden, and Munich. Visit famous porcelain manufacturers including Meissen, KPM, and the Nymphenburg factory. Spend time exploring the history of the art form in Dresden s famous porcelain collection as well as the contemporary Hering flagship store. Round out the trip with other cultural highlights of Germany including many of its palaces, parks, and museums. 3 Highlights Begin your visit in Berlin, the capitol where history was made. From your hotel in the Baroque city center, stroll down the famous Unter den Linden boulevard and step through the Brandenburg Gate Take a guided tour of the famous Meissen Factory, where intricate and exquisite porcelain objects have been produced for 300 years Enjoy a curator-led tour of the porcelain collection in Dresden one of the most famous collections of Meissen in the world and visit the Green Vault Explore Nymphenburg Palace, including a special visit to the porcelain factory which no longer offers public tours but has agreed to welcome our group Discover Munich s famous highlights such as Hofbräuhaus, Marienplatz, the Frauenkirche, the Viktualienmarkt, and the Chinese Tower in the English Garden Take in the beauty of Munich, Dresden, and Berlin as you explore their churches, palaces, and parks Attend a concert while in Dresden

4 ITINERARY Saturday, September 30, 2017 Depart the U.S. on an overnight flight to Berlin. Sunday, October 1 Arrive in Berlin. Meet with tour staff and enjoy a panoramic sightseeing tour upon arrival, which will take place en route to the hotel. In the evening, there will be a welcome reception followed by a 3-course dinner in local restaurant. Tuesday, October 3 Today will require an early start. Depart the hotel in Berlin and head towards Dresden. Visit the Hering flagship store, whose fine contemporary porcelain is the creation of master craftswoman Stefanie Hering. Continue to the Sanssouci Palace (once a summer palace of Frederick II) to explore the palace and gardens on a guided tour. Enjoy a 3-course lunch in the Dutch Quarter. Arrive in Dresden and check into the hotel. Hotel: Westin Grand Hotel Berlin. Room category Deluxe Twin/Deluxe Double (Reception, Dinner) Monday, October 2 Depart by private coach for a full day tour of Berlin. Tour the KPM factory followed by a light lunch as a group. KPM stands for Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin or The Royal Porcelain Factory of Berlin, founded by Frederick II of Prussia in the mid-18 th century. Continue to Charlottenburg Palace, the largest palace in Berlin, for a guided tour. Dinner in the evening will be independent. (Breakfast, Lunch) Hotel: Steigenberger Hotel Dresden. Partially destroyed during bombing of Dresden in World War II, the Frauenkirche was fully reconstructed and restored in This afternoon, take a curator led tour of Porzellansammlung the Zwinger Porcelain collection the most famous collection of Meissen Porcelain in the world. Founded in 1715 by Augustus the Strong, the

5 Zwinger collection is comprised of approximately 20,000 objects of traditional Chinese and Japanese porcelain as well as Meissen porcelain. Enjoy dinner, followed by a local concert (concert to be confirmed closer to departure). (Breakfast, Dinner) Thursday, October 5 Today is dedicated to Meissen. Take a guided tour of the famous Meissen Factory, where intricate and exquisite porcelain objects have been produced for 300 years. See the factory where the signature Meissen look is crafted and hand painted. (Breakfast) Friday, October 6 Depart Dresden for Munich. En route, visit the porcelain museums Selb and Hohenburg including guided tours at both museums. If time allows, pause at the Rosenthal outlets for time to expand your collection. Check in to the Seitner Hof Hotel in the southern suburbs of Munich, where you can enjoy a traditional and relaxed Bavarian atmosphere while still being accessibly close to the city center. Hotel: Seitner Hof Hotel. Room category Deluxe Twin/ Deluxe Double for Sole Occupancy home/ (Breakfast) Saturday, October 7 Take a guided visit to the Munich Residenz & Schatzkammer (Treasury). The Residenz is the former palace of the Bavarian monarchs, and houses an impressive collection of silver, bronze, relics, and other art. Please note that the porcelain collection is currently closed for renovation at the moment and will most likely reopen in 2017 hopefully in time for our visit. Visit the Schatzkammer, or royal Treasury, whose collection holds pieces spanning a 1000 year period. In the afternoon, take a guided visit to Nymphenburg Palace including a special guided tour of the porcelain factory. This will be a special tour for this group as the factory no longer offers tours to the factory, but they agreed to welcome this group exceptionally for a guided tour of the factory. Enjoy a farewell dinner tonight. (Breakfast, Dinner) Sunday, October 8 Transfer to the airport and depart from Germany on flights back to the U.S. (Breakfast)
