There will be approximately one million additional rooms available for sale in the coming years, and total available hotel rooms will reach 12,5 million. More than 70 % of these investments have been planned in Asia/Pacific, Americas and in Middle East. Close to 550 new hotels with a capacity of rooms will be opened in Europe and, of course, Middle East Market plans to reach up to rooms from 422 projects in the next 3 to 5 years. As AHK Group, we are proud to have been involved more and more in these new projects. In the last few years, our performance in completed projects like, Ibn Batuta Gate Mövenpick Hotel, Anantara Royal Amwaj, Meydan City, Waldorf Astoria on Palm Jumeirah all in Dubai, UAE has given us more confident about our capabilities and enabled us for bigger challenges. 6 6 THE AHK WORLDWIDE POST ISSUE 4 / 2018 IN SURYAPI ANTALYA URBAN Transformation Project AHK CONSTRUCTION s Success In SURYAPI Antalya Urban Transformation Project which is the biggest urban transformation project of Turkey, we have taken our place as AHK CONSTRUCTION. In the project which has been started with the slogan of A new Antalya rises in Brand City Antalya, a huge living space in which people will live on 1 million 300 thousand m² area with 19 thousand residences, home office, shop and other facilities has been constructed. As AHK Construction, the first concrete was poured in the last week of January in 2018 after the agreement signed between SURYAPI and AHK Construction in December in 2017 to carry out the construction of 1900 residences and 26 blocks of the project. Who is Jonas Winkler? Please tell us about you. My name is Jonas Winkler and I am the lead designer and owner of Jonas Winkler Design. My office is located in Hanover, Germany and is specialized in sustainable furniture design. One of my main goals when designing new objects is to obtain the best quality possible and to create an aesthetic shape, that fits every environment. Jonas Winkler Product Designer What does designing mean to you? Designing gives me the chance to shape the world around me without interrupting. My furniture is supposed to be highly aesthetic without being to obtrusive. An important part while designing is the prototype. This part is crucial for the end result, therefore I produce all prototypes by myself in my attached workshop in Hannover. Working with the prototype gives me the chance to interact with my work to clarify every small detail. Could you please tell us about new designing trends in Europe? And where is Turkey positioning in this picture? As always, Scandinavian furniture is very popular. But furthermore there seems to be a trend towards quality. The general customer is changing its behavior and seems to be more interested in solid wood furniture and higher quality in general. I think Turkey has the chance to enter this market with its fine craftsmanship and the potential to produce a lot of furniture without loosing the quality. How did you meet with AHK and Forgecasa? It met the owner of Forgecasa at a design fair in Cologne, Germany and since then I was introduced to all the members of the AHK and Forgecasa family. You have just visited AHK Factory. What are your impressions about AHK Factory? The AHK factory in Antalya is a stunning place. A product designers dream - that s for sure. AHK as a manufacturer is able to produce literally anything. No matter what material or form will be chosen, they will make it - and they will make it perfect. I am quite impressed by all the possibilities. How could you define your Forgecasa collection? My first collection for Forgecasa, the Leica-family is combining Japanese minimalism with elements of the classic Scandinavian design. The design allows the use as outdoor and indoor furniture due to its robust and weatherproof materials. Lastly, what do you think about AHK and Forgecasa? From a designers point of view, AHK and Forgecasa are highly professional companies with very high standards. Furthermore I am honored to be part of this arrangement of companies, investors and creators.
