Visit the presidential residence at Bessastaðir and the town of Hafnarfjörður, which is said to be home of the hidden people elves, dwarves and other spirits who are said to live in entire families between the rocks that are dotted around the town centre. This tour will also take you in the town s old fishing harbour. Then proceed to viewing platform at Perlan, one of the most memorable sights from the capital. It is built on several hot water tanks, which used to hold the city s hot water supply. From here, you ll be able to enjoy a spectacular view over Reykjavík. See the Hallgrímskirkja church, named after a national poet and clergyman. Its design is said to resemble lava flow, a key part of the Icelandic landscape. The church took 38 years to complete and today is one of the city s best-known landmarks and a fantastic observation point. The church is in the old town centre, which you will also be able to take in, alongside the Icelandic parliament Alþingi and the town hall. The Parliament is one of the oldest parliamentary institutions in the world, founded in 930 in the Parliament Plains, 45km east of Reykjavík. Later we return to Reykjavik and some time to explore the area. Overnight at Hotel. Day 3 Reykjavik Breakfast at Hotel. Today we proceed to The Blue Lagoon and Golden Circle Tour. This tour takes you takes you to Iceland's top sightseeing attractions - the Blue Lagoon, Thingvellir National Park, Gullfoss waterfall and Geysir geothermal area in one day. We travel to the Blue Lagoon, a unique geothermal spa situated in a lava field south of Reykjavík. Once there you can walk and take in the Blue Lagoon's spectacular surroundings or bathe in the milky bluegreen water which originates 2,000m from under the earth. From the Blue Lagoon the tour heads back to Reykjavík to join the Golden Circle. We start with a visit to Þingvellir National Park where the Icelandic parliament Alþingi was founded in the year 930 AD. The site was used for Parliament gatherings up until the 20th century, and the area is renowned for its historical significance and geological wonders. From there the tour moves on to the majestic and beautiful Gullfoss glacial waterfall and the Geysir geothermal area before returning to Reykjavik via the Hellisheiði route. Return to the hotel. This whale watching tour takes you sailing from Reykjavík out to Faxaflói bay which is home of variety of whales, dolphins, porpoise and other marine life. The local bird life is also diverse, including such birds as the Puffin, Arctic tern, Gannet and many species of gulls. After the tour you can explore the Whale Exhibition Centre where you can find out more about the mysteries of the ocean. It is situated in an old Capelin-fishing vessel Fífill which has been transformed into an exhibition and information centre on whales and sea birds. Explore the beautiful Scottish Highlands, discover majestic Urquhart Castle and take a monster cruise on Loch Ness. We leave Edinburgh behind we head towards Stirling with its ancient castle then stop for morning coffee stop at Kilmahog. Next it's Rob Roy Country and dramatic Rannoch Moor before arriving at the Weeping Glen - Glen Coe, the infamous site of the 1692 Massacre of the resident MacDonalds by Government troops of the Campbell Clan. After a short drive we arrive at Fort William which sits in the shadow of Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain. After time for lunch there's a photo stop at Spean Bridge before we enter the scenic beauty of the famous Great Glen, a landscape of soaring mountains and shimmering lochs. Our journey follows the route of the Caledonian Canal to Loch Ness and the impressive ruins of Urquhart Castle. The Castle provides a superb vantage point to see the deepest part of the loch. Here you can enjoy an optional visit to the castle and take a short cruise on the loch. On our homeward journey, we pass by Inverness then enter the wild beauty of the Cairngorm National Park. We make our way into the Kingdom of Fife and our first stop of the day at Dunfermline Abbey and Palace. The great abbey of Dunfermline (optional) was founded in the 11th century by Queen Margaret and the foundations of the original building lie under the stunning 12th century Romanesque style nave. The Abbey Church is the last resting place of many Scottish kings and queens including the great freedom fighter Robert the Bruce..We continue our tour through beautiful Glen Devon and pass the famous Gleneagles Hotel, the venue for the 2014 Ryder Cup. The attractive spa town of Crieff is the location of quaint Glenturret Malt Whisky Distillery (optional), the home of the Famous Grouse. We will go from the Cathedral to the Golden Tower where we will visit the City's Nautical History Exhibition. Overnight at Hotel Day 3 Nuuk Breakfast at Hotel. Today we will embark on a Boat tour to Kangeq. Kangeq is a former settlement in the Sermersooq municipality of southwestern Greenland. It was a traditional fishing village, abandoned in the 1980s. This tour starts from Nuuk city and takes approximately 1 hour to travel by boat to Kangeq. The famous artist Aron ( ) was born and lived in kangeq. He was a sealer and painter and is famous for his descriptions of Greenland s culture and people as well as his illustrations of Greenlandic myths and stories. It is quite an experience walking around this small abandoned ghost town. In comparison with the abandoned settlement of Qoornoq, this small settlement is not really used by anyone today. Therefore it is almost like a museum that provides insights into the consequences of the politics in the 1950s and 1960s where inhabitants were forced to leave their homes and settle in the big and noisy cities. This was one of the biggest political decisions in the country s history and had a significant impact on many lives. Later return back to your hotel. 23 Day 5 Ilulissat Eqi Sermia - Ilulissat Breakfast at Hotel. Today we make our own way to Ilulissat harbour for Full Day Eqi Sermia Tour by Boat. Only few places in Greenland are as beautiful as the Eqi Glacier, which ends in the fiord 80 kilometres north of Ilulissat. The excursion to the Eqi Sermia glacier gives you the opportunity to get very close to the inland ice and to see the calving phenomenon. The boat journey to the glacier depends on the boat and the weather and sea conditions but it's approximately 3/4 hours. At the glacier the boat stops approx 500 metres from it and there you will have 1 hour to admire the calving while drinking a cup of coffee. Lunch will also be served. Later we will return back to Iiulissat. Overnight at Hotel Day 6 Ilulissat Breakfast at Hotel. Today morning we will take a 2hrs Guided Walking Tour of Ilulissat with our expert guide. Discover Ilulissat's history and culture. Visit the old town, the fishing harbour, the old church and the museum while leisurely walking among the locals. Ilulissat Jakobshavn was founded in 1741 and it is today the third biggest town in Greenland with over inhabitants. The guide will tell you about the history of the city, the Greenlandic culture and the modern life 300 km north of the Arctic Circle. The tour will start from the old part of town where there are the buildings of the first danish settlement with the harbour, the church and the museum. The afternoon is free to explore the island on your own. Tonight we ll embark on Evening/Midnight Sun Cruise sailing among the icebergs (Cruise Included). The midnight/evening sun gives the icebergs a unique play of colours that people return to experience again and again. Sailing during the night with the sun still shining is a fantastic and unusual experience. Almost every visitor in Ilulissat chooses to try this boat trip among the icebergs at least once. During the year, more than 46 km of ice flows into the fiord. The result is gigantic icebergs, which can be more than 100 metres on each side and with a height on more than 100 metres above the water surface. These giants strand at the end of the fiord, and that gives a good opportunity to sail among them. The icebergs are beautiful every kind of weather; in the sunshine the contrasts are very clear, the blue shades are very beautiful, when it is cloudy and the midnight sun casts a unique glow on the icebergs during the night. The boat trip at bright night is definitely an extraordinary experience. Because of the proximity of Ilulissat to the Arctic Circle the night sky is still dominated by the midnight sun and the red and gold colors reflecting back from the icebergs is truly an once-in-a-lifetime experience.
