3 ROOMS, SUITES AND CANAL HOUSE SUITES The Grand features 177 contemporary accommodations, of which 52 luxury suites with Butler service. The rooms and suites, divided in 9 room categories, are designed to create a harmonious blend of the historic and modern stylistic elements of the hotel. The rich heritage of the site has been carefully preserved while ensuring that the accommodations are equipped with the advanced technology expected by today s traveller. The interior was designed by the well-known French architect Sybille de Margerie, who collaborated on the design of the rooms with students from the renowned Design Academy Eindhoven. They used images of legendary persons from the history of the building as a source of inspiration to design the rooms. The result is a harmonious blend of traditional and contemporary design, including typically Dutch style elements. Junior Suite The Junior Suites (45 m 2 / 484 ft 2 ) have a spacious bedroom with a king size Sofitel MyBed and lounge area, WIFI / High speed internet, fully air-conditioned, separate lounge with desk, DVD & BOSE system, safe deposit box, contemporary bathroom with rain shower and bath with TV. The Junior Suites include Butler Service (unique in The Netherlands) throughout the stay, for an even more personalised experience. Canal House Suite Superior Room Our Superior Rooms (30 m 2 / 322 ft 2 ) really give you the sense of the history of the building as you can find high ceilings and big windows. The luxury contemporary design blends in perfectly with the art and digital gadgets. The Superior rooms are available with a wonderful view of the garden, the canals or the courtyard. Canal House Suite Walk into a genuine piece of Amsterdam history, in former homes of famous Dutch Admirals dating back to the 17th century. The traditional feel of the fourteen Canal House Suites is complemented by state-of-the-art facilities blended with modern amenities including fully equipped kitchenettes in selected Suite Apartments. 4 The Grand is ALSO... Dedicated to business Princenhof Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam boasts no less than 19 meeting rooms and banqueting halls in total, covering 1400 m 2. Five of these rooms are listed as historical monuments and were taken into use when The Grand served as City Hall: the Council Chamber, the Burgomaster and Aldermans Chamber, the St. Cecilia and the beautiful First Class Marriage Chamber. The Princenhof, once functioning as accommodation for prominent guests and city officials, such as Prince William II of Orange and the French Queen Maria de Medici, holds fourteen contemporary meeting rooms, all equipped with modern audio-visual facilities. It is the perfect venue for private meetings and conferencing events. The Council Chamber was built 1926 when the Admiralty Building was restored for Amsterdam s city council and the New Wing was being constructed. The Council Chamber is notable for its painted, engraved and carved wooden panels, created by J. Mendes da Costa, Hildo Krop, John Raedecker and A. Fortuin. In this historical room the former Queen of The Netherlands, Princess Beatrix, got married in Romantic Council Chamber Magnifique Meetings Magnifique Meetings is a total conferencing concept that combines historic settings with state-of-the-art technology. The Grand Boardroom is a hyper-modern meeting facility that features contemporary comfort combined with the latest technology, such as video-conference and built-in audiovisual equipment. Grand Boardroom To this day, The Grand remains a popular wedding venue. Indeed, over the years many weddings have been planned and arranged, for instance in the First Class Marriage Chamber of Amsterdam s City Hall, designed by Chris Lebeau ( ). He designed the entire room; the wall frescos, the ceiling and the stained glass windows. It is a very special room, a place where convention and willfulness converge to form a harmonious serenade to marriage and love, filled with symbolism. With its characteristic blue-green colors, this stylish chamber certainly captivates the senses. The Marriage Chamber, along with the Bridal Suite and the option of arriving by boat at the hotel, are the perfect ingredients for a fairytale wedding. Burgomaster Chamber The Baron is one of the signature meeting rooms in the Princenhof that offers a spacious meeting environment. In addition it has a lounge area that can be used during coffee breaks or for meetings in a more casual setting within the same room. The Admiralty is located on the ground floor of the Princenhof. The room displays a stylish palette of grey and pink colours and has high windows, from which you can see the courtyard of The Grand and the breathtaking hotel facade. The Admiralty is designed to cater lunch or dinner up to 100 people and exclusive standing receptions up to 150 people. During summer, the Admiralty can be combined with the courtyard of The Grand.
