1 Dear Ibicus Workshop Par-cipant, We are looking forward to seeing you for the IBICUS IB Diploma Programme Workshops which run from Thursday 1 st October to Saturday 3 rd October at Raffles World Academy, Dubai* * with a further one- day add- on Academic Honesty in Prac7ce workshop on 4 th October at VISS in Sharjah. Driving DirecRons: Head for Junc-on 4 (exit 39) on the Sheikh Zayed Road, signposted D63 Umm Suqeim Road (West), also signposted for the Burj Al Arab and Madinat Jumeirah. At the main junc-on at the end of Umm Suqeim Road, turn right into Jumeirah Beach Road (D94), heading towards Dubai and the Burj al Arab/Jumeirah Beach Hotel. Turn right at the Emirates Bank (directly opposite the Burj al Arab). At the end of the road, turn lew and then second right into Al Marcup Street. The Raffles World Academy is on Al Marcup Street on the right hand side. See map overleaf. If you are staying at our recommended workshop hotel, the NOVOTEL AL BARSHA there will be IBICUS buses to transport you to the workshop and back to the hotel each day. Please note that these are only for residents of the hotel and we appreciate your coopera-on in this. Buses will depart from the hotel at 0830 prompt each morning. If you are NOT staying at the Novotel Al Barsha, please take a taxi to the Raffles World Academy. These are plen-ful and cheap in Dubai and your hotel should be able to assist you. Alterna-vely, you can book a Taxi with Dubai Taxi Corpora-on on or using your Smartphone with the RTA Smart Taxi app,or services such as Careem or Uber. 4 EXCURSIONS Thursday 1st October 2015 DESERT SAFARI (4WD) Pick Up: 17:00 hrs from Raffles World Academy and drop off approx 21:00 hours to your hotel or nearest metro. Price: Dhs 180 Per Person Or US Dollar 50 Per Person This tour departs in the evening for a short drive over the sand dunes to reach our campsite, where you have the opportunity to enjoy camel riding, sand boarding, shisha (famous Arabic smoking- water pipe) and get a henna design on your hands or feet. Our Tanoora Dancer will treat you with his performance before the delicious barbecue dinner and before returning to Dubai, you can watch our belly dancer performing her show by starlight. Friday 2nd October 2015 DUBAI CITY TOUR Pick Up: 17:00 hrs from Raffles World Academy and drop off approx 21:00 hours to your hotel or nearest metro. Driving down Sheikh Zayed Road, admire the glikering high rises en route to Souk Madinat Jumeirah, a beau-ful recrea-on of an Arabian style market place. AWer a photo stop at the iconic Burj Al Arab your drive con-nues to Palm Jumeirah, a fully reclaimed, palm shaped island that is home to the magnificent Atlan-s, The Palm. 5 Arrival Rme for RegistraRon Please come through the main school entrance of Raffles World Academy to the IBICUS RegistraRon Desks between 0830 and 0900 on Thursday 1st October There is no need to register at the front desks on subsequent days. ICT WiFi is available in most areas of the school for your own smartphone/laptop School ICT facili-es are also available during break -mes. Meals Lunches and refreshments are provided on Thursday and Friday during the workshop. On Saturday we finish before lunch but will provide refreshments at the morning break.
