Turn over a new leaf with this New England fall foliage vacation. Day One, Sunday, September 30: Depart Columbia City early morning and travel to Liverpool, NY. With lunch and comfort stops along the way, you will arrive at your Syracuse/Liverpool hotel about 6:30 pm. (Holiday Inn Syracuse/Liverpool or similar) NOTE: Stops enroute to New York will be arranged by client. There will be time to refresh before an included dinner served in the hotel s on-site restaurant, The Salt House. Day Two, Monday, October 1: Start your day with a hearty, hot and cold breakfast buffet served at the hotel. Check out of your rooms, board the coach and make your way into Vermont, the Green Mountain State. With an 8:00 am departure and a comfort stop along the way, you will arrive in

2 Bennington, VT about 11:45 am where you may start your visit with lunch on your own. After lunch, visit the city s most famous landmark, the Bennington Battle Monument. In 1777 General John Stark, aided by the Green Mountain Boys, defeated the King s troops. The objective of this famous Battle of Bennington was the site where military supplies had been stored. In place of the storehouse, now stands a 306-foot monolith. On the picturesque grounds are additional monuments and a lovely gift shop. There will be time to disembark for a photo op. Your next stop is at the Old First Church. The Old First Church was gathered in 1762, the first Protestant church in Vermont. Much of the early history of Bennington and of Vermont took place in and around the original Meeting House, built in The Vermont Legislature, in 1935, designated the church as "Vermont's Colonial Shrine. Robert Frost s remains are buried in the cemetery adjacent to the church. He was not a member of the church, however he bought 2 lots in 1940 for a family burial place. Your last stop in Bennington is at the Bennington Center of the Arts, a state-of-the-art complex that offers access to world-class artists from all disciplines. At the Center s Covered Bridge Museum, discover the history and legends of covered bridges in the world s only museum dedicated to their preservation. The Wind Sculpture Garden offers a stunning outdoor collection of sound, motion and beauty. Depart Bennington and travel through the wooded countryside to your Vermont Country Lodge situated in the heart of the Green Mountains. This Vermont lodge offers the warmth and charm of a country inn and the space, amenities and conveniences of a modern hotel. Situated above the West River Valley, you quickly become entranced with sweeping southern views from each room s private balcony. 3 Now, it s time to get your country on! Board the coach and travel just down the road to the Taylor Farm. Climb aboard a horse-drawn wagon, and head over the fields and through the woods for a guided tour of the 180-year old working dairy farm. Once back at the main house, dine on some of the freshest ingredients imaginable, most of which come right from the farm. Then, buckle up your dance shoes and get ready for a hoedown. Yee-haw! Day Three, Tuesday, October 2: Wake up to an amazing sunrise as you gaze out of the balcony of your room. After an included breakfast served in the lodge, check out of your rooms, board the coach and head into Vermont s capital district. Your first stop is at Morse Farms Sugarworks where you may watch how real maple sugar is made, from the trees to the finished product, on a historic Vermont maple sugar farm. A traditional sugar on snow party completes your visit. Before you depart, there will be time to shop in their lovely gift shop. Travel down the hill to the Capitol Building. Vermont is known for having the smallest State House and Montpelier is the only capital city in the nation without a McDonald s! Built in 1859, the State House is one of the nation s oldest and best-preserved state capitols in use. Your visit includes a fascinating docent-led tour. Lunch is included and served at the State House Café where you might just find yourself sitting next to the governor! For a sweet spot in your day, stop at Ben and Jerry s Ice Cream Factory for a tour and taste. Learn how $5, an online course and a beat-up truck turned into Vermont s Finest ice cream. Visit the graveyard and pay your respects to ice cream flavors of the past! Just a few minutes drive down the road is the Cold Hollow Cider Mill. Open the door to the mouth-watering aroma of just-baked cider donuts and freshly pressed apple cider. Cold Hollow Cider Mill also offers a fine collection of Vermont specialty food products, crafts and gifts. Depart the Cider Mill and travel along a scenic country road to your overnight destination, the Lake Morey Resort. After dinner enjoy a classic movie presented in the Resort s own movie theater, or take a stroll around the property and gaze at the Harvest Moon and its reflection on the lake. Day Four, Wednesday, October 3: Start your day with a relaxing buffet breakfast served at the resort. There will be time for a morning stroll around the beautifully landscaped grounds. Before you leave Vermont, you simply must visit the Farmway Store. Family owned and operated since 1983, the store is located in a mill, not a mall, with over 16 acres of land to explore. Feast your eyes on over 4 million dollars in inventory including top-name brands of footwear, clothing, gear, sporting goods and house wares. Here you may purchase a shovel, frying pan or an entire outfit! The selections will amaze you! Depart the Farmway Store about 10:00 am and travel across the border into New Hampshire. Make a stop at Chutter s, home of the world s longest candy counter. Choose your favorite sweet treat from the 12 feet of gleaming glass jars filled with brightly colored candies. Depart Littleton and travel into the White Mountain National Forest to Bretton Woods. The minute you turn into the driveway, the grand Omni Mount Washington will capture your attention. A grand masterpiece of Spanish Renaissance architecture, the resort was a two-year labor of love for 250 master craftsmen. Conceived by industrialist Joseph Stickney, this National Historic Landmark opened in 1902 and has been attracting generations of families ever since. The most luxurious hotel of its day, The Mount Washington catered to wealthy guests from Boston, New York and Philadelphia. As many as 50 trains a day stopped at Bretton Woods' three railroad stations. Your time at the resort includes a guided historic tour, lavish luncheon buffet and a keepsake guidebook. After your lunch and tour, board the coach and travel a short distance to Franconia Notch State Park. Franconia Notch is a spectacular mountain pass traversed by a unique

5 parkway. Take in the scenery that includes a beautiful lake situated right at the base of the granite cliffs. From Franconia Notch, travel a very short distance south, to the entrance of the Kancamagus Highway. The Kancamagus Highway is a 26.5-mile-long, two-lane road that runs east and west through the White Mountains and constitutes the eastern half of New Hampshire s Route 112. It has been designated a National Scenic Byway by the United States Department of Transportation under the name Kancamagus Scenic Byway. During your time on the Kanc there will be opportunities to pull off at the scenic overlooks and debark the coach for photos. Once you exit the Kanc you will be just minutes from your overnight accommodations, the Green Granite Inn, or similar. There will be time to refresh and relax after you check in. Gather for an included dinner served at a casual restaurant located near the hotel. (The Muddy Moose or similar.) Day Five, Thursday, October 4: Enjoy a leisurely morning at the hotel. Check out of your rooms after breakfast. The tax-free outlet stores at Settlers on the Green open at 9:00 am, so the shoppers in your group will have the opportunity to find some great bargains before your first attraction this morning. Arrive at the Conway Scenic Railroad at 10:15 am for a ride through the spectacular fall foliage. During your hour-long ride, roundtrip Conway, you will travel on historic rail routes aboard vintage passenger cars. After your ride, have lunch on your own in one of North Conway s many local eateries. Depart North Conway about 12:30 pm and begin your travels toward your overnight destination. Check out of your rooms by 9:00 am and travel to Stockbridge, MA, home of the renowned Red Lion Inn and the Norman Rockwell Museum. At the Museum you will see the most significant public collection of the artist s work, as well as his studio and personal memorabilia. Before you depart Stockbridge, travel into the charming downtown area, have lunch on your own and take time to visit some of the shops. Depart Stockbridge about 2:00 pm and travel to your overnight destination. Arrive about 4:45 pm at the Holiday Inn, Syracuse/Liverpool for a single-night stay. There will be time to refresh after check-in. Board the coach and travel less than 5 minutes to your dinner destination. This locals - favorite, lodge-like eatery offers a whimsical setting, bordering on eclectic.
