The progressive spreading out from Kurum seems to date from the 1890s. In January 1991 the Mursi, at Kurum, carried through the long overdue creation of a new male age set, by means of a three-day ritual. The set was given the name Geleba, and the age span of the set was years. The ritual was carried out under the eyes of the hostile Nyangatom on the opposite bank of the Omo river.
