2 WE VE REWRITTEN THE RULES Royal Caribbean International has announced its summer 2017/18 Australasian programme, including itinerary details for the US$1 billion Ovation of the Seas second local season. Royal Caribbean remains the biggest cruise line in Sydney over the October-April summer season with bigger ships and more capacity than any other cruise line. Together, Ovation of the Seas, Explorer of the Seas, Voyager of the Seas and Radiance of the Seas will offer 66 sailings ranging from two to 22 nights during the 2017/18 season. From September 2017 through to April 2018 the four megaliners will call at 46 ports across Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific, Asia and North America with departures from Sydney, Fremantle, Auckland, Singapore, Honolulu and Seattle. Megaliners Explorer of the Seas and Voyager of the Seas will cement their position as the specialised South Pacific sisters in 2017/18, sailing predominantly to destinations like Mystery Island and Port Vila in Vanuatu, as well as Noumea, Isle of Pines and Lifou (Loyalty Islands) in New Caledonia. With itineraries that lend themselves perfectly to families and amenities to match, Royal Caribbean is positioning the South Pacific sisters as the go-to cruise holiday for families of all ages and sizes. Royal Caribbean guests will also soon start to experience more overnight calls. Explorer of the Seas will make two overnight calls in Suva in Fiji on her two repositioning voyages, at the commencement of the season and on her return to Seattle in 2018, allowing guests to enjoy a multi-day shore excursion or choose to stay overnight on land. Both Ovation of the Seas and Radiance of the Seas overnight in Adelaide, allowing guests to spend the night in the nearby wine regions of the Barossa or Clare Valley. Meanwhile, Radiance of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas will focus on Australia and New Zealand itineraries, sailing to ports around Australia like Hobart, Adelaide and Fremantle, as well as to the North and South Islands of New Zealand. Our culinary ship, Radiance of the Seas, with her 10 incredible dining options and endless floor-to-ceiling glass windows will embark on two open-jaw cruises from Sydney and Auckland, offering itineraries for travellers who want flexibility so they can add a longer land component to their holiday plans. The summer of 2017/18 will also mark a very fond farewell to Legend of the Seas, which Royal Caribbean is deploying to Europe from May After home-porting in Brisbane for two consecutive seasons, Legend of the Seas is currently one of the only ships in the Royal Caribbean International fleet that can berth at Portside in Brisbane until a new terminal is constructed on the eastern side of the Gateway Bridges.
