7 CHILDREN S GARDEN BOTANIC PARK The Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park held their children s garden ground breaking ceremony on August 16 th. The garden is dedicated to children and will be a place to play and learn. It will feature an education area, open play area with a tree house and grow zone. 9 GOAT FARM CAYMAN BRAC Perched atop the Bluff on the eastern edge of the Sister Islands, the Cayman Brac goat farm, a fledgling agriculture business that had been stalled in an embryonic phase for several years, is beginning to attract attention. Canadian farm manager, Brian Payne believes the farm can expand to include a dairy that produces goat cheese and develop into a viable agri-tourism business on the Brac. Mr. Payne arrived with 300 of his own goats and predicts that the herd will swell to around 700 in a few months. For more information read article below. Website:

10 SUNDAY MARKET WYNDHAM REEF RESORT The Wyndham Reef Resort is offering a Sunday Market to allow visitors in the area with limited transport, or locals who don t wish to drive into town the opportunity to shop closer to home. 11 SURFING IN GRAND CAYMAN DECEMBER MARCH & JUNE NOVEMBER Although not a big wave destination, it is possible to find some decent surf on Cayman. Through the winter months from December to March, when the northwesters blow through. Some good swells are generated off Seven Mile Beach, making it a surfer s paradise. The area in front of the Caribbean Club hotel and LUCA restaurant are ideal for beginners during these months, with a safe sandy bottom and easy access to/from the sea. From June to November, the best surf is usually found at the South Sound Community Centre and Mariners Cove in Spotts. However, beginners would be well advised to avoid these locations as the coral and sea urchins on the bottom can prove hazardous to lessskilled surfers. Cayman Resident. 13 WHISKEY MIST COMEDY CLUB THE STRAND, WEST BAY ROAD Back in the 90 s, the old Holiday Inn used to be home to Coconuts Comedy Club where international comedians would perform almost every night of the week. People lined up for seats and the laughter went through the roof. Whiskey Mist has revived the tradition of regular comedy nights. 52 CAYMAN ISLANDS TRIATHLON NOVEMBER For almost 20 years the Cayman Islands Triathlon Association has promoted local sports and competition in the Cayman Islands. From swimmers and cyclists to runners, from first timers to fierce contenders and from fun to competitive types. Athletes have a choice of 2 race distances: The Sprint Triathlon: 750m swim, 12.4 mile bike and 3.1 mile run. The Olympic Distance: 1500m swim, 24.8 mile bike and 6.2 mile run. 53 PIRATES WEEK FESTIVAL NOVEMBER This year s 40th celebration comes with a big change, moving from an eleven-day to a five-day festival combining the annual district Heritage Days. With all five of Grand Cayman s district representatives in one place, guests will have the chance to explore the Cayman Islands all in one day during the largest Heritage Day event in the islands history.
