They can be used in gardens, nurseries or on farms. 25 THERMOFLAMM BIO WEED CONTROL WITHOUT CHEMICALS Thermal weed control offers an alternative to chemical herbicides when tackling annoying rank growth around the house, because using aggressive chemicals is not allowed on paved areas such as driveways or pavements (see information box). THIS IS HOW IT WORKS The device is passed slowly over the weeds at approximately 3 cm. The escaping heat penetrates deeply into the roots and causes the fluid in the plant cells to coagulate. The expansion of the cell fluid bursts the cell walls. Directly after the treatment the plant may still look unharmed, but it will dry up within a few days. This does not only have a short-term effect, it ensures that weeds are removed on a long-term basis. Therefore, even persistent plants can be treated effectively. DID YOU KNOW? There are strict legal regulations on the use of pesticides. On the one hand, they may only be applied if they are approved by law. On the other hand, they may not be used on paved outdoor areas. This means that the use of chemical or biological agents which are not approved such as vinegar and salt is prohibited. Infringements are punishable by fines. The reason is that the applied agents cannot seep away through the earth on sealed surfaces. The next rain washes the chemical residue from the surface and carries it unfiltered into the sewage system, where it eventually causes considerable problems for the waterworks when it comes to treating the water. THERMOFLAMM BIO NATURAL WEED CONTROL The Thermoflamm bio range consists of four different weed burners and comfortably and effectively removes weeds. The devices are suitable for many applications, especially in hardto-reach areas such as outdoor staircases or on terraces. The models Classic and Comfort come with an automatic ignition mechanism for a safe handling.
