Rubber floor coverings are sensitive to strong alkalines such as soft soap and basic cleaners. Colour change: material damage! Rubber floor coverings are sensitive to certain solvents such as ketone and ester. Fat-soluble colorants such as shoe polish or asphalt can penetrate into rubber floor coverings: diffusion Mould-release agents from production (silicone or paraffin-based) must be completely removed before basic treatment. Paraffin-like antioxidants can migrate to the surface over time and form white clouds. These can be polished out. The leakage resistance of antistatic floor coverings must be measured and recorded before and after basic cleaning. It is recommended to check the leakage resistance approximately one week after maintenance cleaning. Rubber floor coverings are a blend of synthetic and natural rubber, sulphur (vulcanising agent), fillers and colour pigments. Distinguishing feature: fire assay with a glowing hot needle in an inconspicuous place: the needle penetrates only slightly, typical rubber smell, no crater formation. Remove loose dirt before every cleaning, damp mop smooth floors and vacuum structured floors. Cleaning agents and surface treatments may alter the appearance and properties of a floor's surface.
